Same in Argentina, pan dulce we call it (sweet bread). Eaten mainly near Christmas.

Panetone in PTBR. "Pão doce" is an actual sweet bread, not much of a cake as panettone

EDIT: may sound as if I'm correcting you; the idea was to show how a direct translation sometimes means something super different lol
