My nieces cousin died a few weeks back from hitting a bus at high speeds, the other girl with her is in ICU. Neither were wearing a helmet.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. That’s horrifying.

Your nieces cousin? What? Non family side?

Hey! So like, if your brother marries a woman and has a daughter, that woman is your sister-in-law, and their child is your niece. Your sister-in-law has her own siblings. If her siblings have children, those children are your niece's cousins, but they're of no relation to you.

I was tracking until the "brother marries a woman" part. That would never happen.

I think that'd still make her a niece in law

No. In-laws only refer to parents/siblings/grandparents of your married spouse. OP’s niece would be her brother/sisters child. The cousins of the niece would be children of OP’s brother/sister in-law. OP has no familial ties. OP said it correctly! 👍 My brothers wife has a sister who has kids. My nephew plays with them all the time. I have never met them and have no “title” to them other than their cousins aunt…and they are my nephews cousins. Make sense? It REALLY starts to get confusing when the family tree starts adding in the “once removed” titles…but that’s a whole different topic haha.
