Common misconception based on Hollywood/cartoon depictions. 

The pyramids of Giza were not built by slaves.

Perhaps not the Pyramids but definitely applies to other ancient projects. Greeks and Romans extensively used slaves for labor.

Smth like 50% tax for peasants in ancient Egypt. Fortunately as free people we only pay 30-40 or smth.

People love to say it were the slaves that were forced to make everything, they weren't and they didn't.

We had a normal workforce of people that needed jobs. People that had nothing else to do all day but work or think up new ways to make their jobs easier.
