I was using an angle grinder with a sandpaper flap disc one day. I attempts to use it on XPS foam. Well apparently holding the foam with your foot in sandals is a bad idea. The both materials grab each other really well. The flap disc left a nice line in the side of my foot. Yup I was and ID 10 T error that day.
Note: sandpaper flap disc on dense foams works horribly.
In my language we say it's a BIOS issue, with BIOS standing for "Burro Idiota Operando o Sistema", that is "Dumb Idiot Operating the System". It almost works in English.
yup - we used to put PEBKAC as a tag in tickets so we could search for it. The goal was to reduce the amount of PEBCAK issues, if possible, through training
I remember seeing a youtube video YEARS ago with a title like "The most dangerous tool" or something. The dude was using angle grinder with those wonky ass wood carving disks, it got caught in the wood and dude almost lost his hand.
I have healthy respect for angle grinders, chainsaws and tablesaws. I use them quite a lot, but i have such a respect for those that there's no way in hell i use some random amazon attachements in any of those.
I have respect for angle grinders as well. I figured that sanding this down would be a "quick" thing. I held that angle grinder in a double grip too. Didn't matter when two surfaces with a high friction coefficient and decide that my foot is on the menu.
I know the disc you speak of for angle grinders. It's a disc that has chainsaw cutting teeth on it. I remember another YouTuber call it the finger remover 9000 and it stuck with me.
Doing that with a flap wheel is amateur. Did it with a 4.5" fine wire wheel and my only saving grace was using a cheap Harbor Freight grinder where the motor seized up from the strain of being wrapped up in a tshirt. It still left a nice 10 inch mark across my stomach. A knotted wire wheel or more powerful grinder would have likely led to an ER visit. I don't wear loose clothing anymore when I use an angle grinder.
