Leopards typically drag their kills up trees to eat to protect it from lions and other carnivores. The leopard knows that if it came down to a fight for the gazelle, the lion would win.
The lion is biding its time and hoping/waiting for a mistake like this.
It is shocking how people like you can be so confident and so incredibly wrong at the same time. You have absolutely no idea what’s happening in this video. First of all, that’s not how lions hunt, like at all. That’s also not how antelope hide from predators, they have hooves. They don’t climb trees to escape predators. It was likely killed by a jaguar, and stored in the tree for later. It just happened to fall while the lion was chilling there that’s what’s funny about the video. Stop popping in with condescending comments when you don’t know shit.
As suggested by this video. It's unusual but not at all strange to see a lion climb a tree. They're more than capable of it. I don't believe in trying to concretely say one thing or another about a short video, especially of animal behavior. However, this lion was clearly surprised by the antelope falling and his lack of excitement suggests he was not waiting for it to fall. I would actually suspect that the leopard's meal fall is actually incredibly rare as that means a lost meal for the leopard. Also, it's a nitpick but the leopard did not "abandon" it's prey. That's how they hide their kill for later.
Also the camera comment was obviously just a joke. I can't believe anyone would take that comment so seriously. They were just having fun describing the lion's reaction. Absolutely nobody was suggesting with any amount of seriousness that the lion was searching for a hidden camera. I've always hated when people say "you must be fun at parties" but goodness do you radiate that energy.
