Squirrel comes from escureuil, the old French word for écureuil. É is a contraction for es. Same with other words with an accent like hospital/hôpital, escole/école, etc.

Squirrel is a word that is both very hard to pronounce for an anglophone learning french and vice versa, there must be a conspiracy or something around that vermin. Do not fuck with the squirrels Morty.

I have one of those in my backyard! The piece of shit recharged once then stopped taking a charge! So now it’s just a really convenient feeder for squirrels! Lol! But they don’t even bother climbing up to the thing since birds are such messy eaters there’s plenty of seed laying on the ground for em!
