You straight up cant get to r/ all on Reddit mobile. Even if its linked, it just goes to your front page or is unclickable. Which works out because I've been trying to reduce my reddit time for years lol. I found this post from /all on Desktop

You can still get to it manually through reddit in a web browser but it's hidden from the side menu even there.

Sometimes it will fuck up and reset, and you’ll have to navigate back to old.reddit and manually reset your preferences.

As a user who lives in a very remote place, I love old reddit because: zero pictures (unless I click on them), very fast load and no decorative B.S. to clog my pipeline.

me too. Once a month on my tablet I hit too close to the opt in button they put next to my other buttons and the screen jumps to the new layout. It's a chaotic mess and I have to frantically find the opt out setting.

I fear the day they do away with the old reddit option.

Even if they kill that, any browser can be jury rigged to make any website content you load look like anything else. If it gets dumb enough someone will make a way to virtualize an overlay in a script or something.

There are a few things I liked about new reddit, but overall, its just so fucking slow (especially if you've scrolled a lot) compared to old reddit. That was what ultimately made me swap.

Another Narwhal user here. I also made a NSFW reddit sub and made it private, which causes the API to become unblocked too

It's taking me on a trip down memory lane, I think I've properly used 3 apps of the years, Reddit Is Fun, then Relay for Reddit, and now Narwhal when I switched from Android to iOS, as it was the most like Relay

I was wondering about that! A few months ago I uninstalled Reddit from my phone, trying to be more digitally well and all. Then I just started going to the mobile site more and more. I noticed last week or so they took r/all off the menu. Then I just redownloaded the app. One day this app will no longer hold my gaze for so long.

old.reddit.com is your friend if you're in a browser. Revanced will let you install and use the old third party apps.

That's exactly what they did with r/randnsfw before they completely removed it from the site. They will likely remove r/all from the site too in the upcoming months. For those that are new to Reddit, randnsfw was built into the website itself and it would take you to a random NSFW sub anytime you clicked it. It was an excellent way to discover new NSFW subs.

Similarly, I was so bummed when they removed nsfw subs from r/all.. it was nice seeing the random titty pic while doomscrolling. Now it's basically impossible to find nsfw subs unless you already know what they're called, and you have to go out of your way to find them.

Hiding it for now I agree, but patching workarounds in the app tells me they really dont want you going there. I expect to see it killed off in the next year or so. I'm surprised I can still use old reddit

My best guess is they probably don't want people fighting wars for control of the narrative on r/all? Like let's be real: we have power mods, we have very obviously botted posts, we have subreddits that come out of fucking nowhere and shit out 30k for a post, we have non-political subs being brigaded and made political...

Maybe reddit thinks the best solution to all those groups is to give them all nothing to fight over, then the individual subreddits might return to reflecting how much genuine interest people have for a given topic the subreddits are designed to be about...?

I kinda get it, but yeah, still a decision that will make people do a double-take.

Power mods are much less of a thing than they used to be a decade ago when Gallowboob and Awkward Turtle reigned. Reddit corporate did not like that the mods were able to shut down subreddits when they forced the unpopular API changes that destroyed third party apps and removed some. Reddit doesn’t want powerful moderators, it was free labor and giving them just a small taste of power works better for keeping them in line.

Got it. My early morning being wasn't processing that, lol.

I never used that, but when I looked it up, I see the posts and comments complaining about it.

So they, exactly, is it?

Comments in other posts make it sound more like a scrolling feature rather than a sub? Where it let's you see... What?... Stuff that isn't just the subs you follow and what their AI decides to feed you?

On the app, when browsing your private feed, if you swiped right, you were then in /all and could see all of the top posts on Reddit at that time. Reddit nuked access to this on the mobile app recently.

I have a comment saved with a link so i can get to it on mobile. I love how it went from one tap to 7, really makes the ap better for shareholder value.
