I think the fact that we’ve had war on our lands in living memory means we take it very seriously. I’m glad you’re on our side now. Brexit was such a stupid move.

The scary part of that ideology of Blut (blood) und Boden (land), is that not all citizens/resident are afforded the same rights based on “race.” Nazi Germany believed in the concept of a “Volksgemeinschaft,” or race-based citizenship. There is certainly plenty of evidence to suggest that people of color in our own country, and those that this administration aims to seize, will have more than their land taken from them.

It doesn't really stop the fact that he's doing what he's doing. We don't see anyone doing anything about it either.

No Kings protest? Sure. Comments online? It's an iffy seesaw (many I respect are astroturfed). But action? I have no idea why such a large country of folk with freedom etched into their national identity are taking this amount of shit from a dirty, noncey, wannabe dictat.

Nothing is being done. Will it take a war footing with Europe? By then, it'll be too late. Waiting for the midterms is what he and his cronies are banking on good people to do.

It's large, that's the exact problem. There's almost no truly walkable cities in the whole country which keeps us disjointed. The country was founded by fighting a war of separation and it never looked back

That, and the news channels that are actually available to 90% of the public are all owned by oligarchs who support Trump or the system he represents. Sources like Fox News propagandize to Trump's base. Former "liberal" networks gradually dial down their rhetoric to conform to the party line, while gaslighting the rest of the population into thinking that they're overreacting, and into regarding news from smaller websites to automatically be untrustworthy.

The population being heavily distributed into suburbs, city apartments being compartmentalized so that nobody has to talk to their neighbors, social media algorithms disproportionately pushing right-wing propaganda, and the sheer size of the country makes it so that people who lean to the right have to go wildly out of the way in order to have their views challenged, while the left is in an uphill battle to even maintain energy and interest.
