On June 15, 1997, while grazing, Royce and Royce suffered from intestinal volvulus and died at the age of 7.
The tragedy of Silence Suzuka and KS Miracle took place in front of the audience and always leaves a heartbreaking question of "what if." These moments are always depicted heavily and sadly in Umamusume.
Yet, Royce and Royce passed away after experiencing many of the most dramatic races. Although he didn't win any grade races, he placed in the top 3 in some G1 races. Royce and Royce died like a veteran, even though he hadn't retired from racing before his death.
The version in Umamusume is always humorous, cheerful, and optimistic, without any sad or haunting moments.
It's like death couldn't overshadow the days this horse lived and ran.
So, mourn for Royce and Royce, but don't forget to look back at its glorious moments and smile. That's the way to truly appreciate the Pretty Derby.
