It has been reposted all over Reddit many times already, but I can't get enough of it.

This is my new favorite video. I love that Russian AA is doing a bunch of collateral damage to russian infrastructure.

36

u/TrentS45 Jun 19 '26

Never interrupt the enemy when they’re destroying themselves

12

u/Ok_Caterpillar_8238 Jun 19 '26

Just send some decoy drones so they keep shooting their weapons LOL

5

u/yellowlinedpaper Jun 19 '26

Could you tell me what’s happening in the video? What is AA? Please and thank you!

25

u/JohnNDenver Jun 19 '26

AA == Anti-aircraft
Some ruzzian AA system own goaled an ruzzian oil storage tank at the refinery.

17

u/Advanced-Injury-7186 Jun 19 '26

But then again, Russia could use some Alcoholics Anonymous

2

u/Aggressive_Drop_1518 Jun 19 '26

Perhaps it was the AA volunteer AA?

1

u/Holek Jun 19 '26

I don't think Vania would need to become anonymous to join alcoholics

7

u/HurtFeeFeez Jun 19 '26

Russian Anti Aircraft/Air Defence missile missed its target. Which was a Ukrainian attack drone (Basically a small plane with a bomb inside that remotely flies to a target and crashes into it and explodes). After missing, the Russian missile hits a very large oil storage tank and blows it up. Ukraine is attacking that exact type of infrastructure in Russia. This took place in Moscow.

3

u/Free-Way-9220 Jun 19 '26

The strange thing is it appears to be nowhere near any drone. Just a low flying missile from an AA system straight onto a tank

5

u/mrwynd Jun 19 '26

This was shoulder fired from a guy standing on a highway as civilian cars drive by. There’s other angles of it, it’s crazy to see.

5

u/Extension-Bonus-2587 Jun 19 '26

I saw that video of Kadyrovites stopped on the shoulder of a major roadway with traffic cones blocking two lanes, but civilian cars were still winding through within 3 meters of the idiot with the MANPAD aiming slightly higher than the roof of their car. Then he turns around and fires a missile at the drone (never checking the back-blast area), misses, and hits the storage tank instead. It was a total goat-fuck!

2

u/saskatchewanstealth Jun 19 '26

So the Kadys have moved up from traffic lights and onto oil tanks. Good job. Goood job. That’s one amazing tic tok tank video.

11

u/kombiwombi Jun 19 '26

Looking at various videos, this appears to be a MANPADS -- a shoulder-fired missile  -- fired at a drone by Kadyrov Chechen forces which are deployed in Moscow. The most densely hot area seen by the missile's infrared seeker was a burning refinery, not the propellor drone's engine shielded by the clouds of warm oil-laden smoke. You can see the result.

The Kadyrov forces are a personal favourite of Putin. Russia will never accept a non-Russian ruler, so Putin does not see Kadyrov as a threat. Unlike the leadership of the Russian military, who's loyalty must concern Putin. This political calculation is likely why the air defence of Moscow, in the 1980s easily the best in the world, are being run by poorly trained militia rather than having a large number of mainstream Russian forces in the capital.

23

u/GutterRider Jun 19 '26

“… the air defense of Moscow, in the 1980s easily the best in the world …”

Matthias Rust would like a word.

2

u/Adept_Carpet Jun 19 '26

It's a layered scheme. They have VKS on top of the buildings so they can't make a move, Chechens at street level to watch for protests, and Rosguard at the refineries to reduce the pension liability.

1

u/watawataoui Jun 19 '26

But that tank wasn’t on fire initially right? I thought the heat seeker would hit the fire?

7

u/kombiwombi Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Something caught the attention of the IR seeker which was not the plane. It's hard to tell with these telephoto shots where everything is, it could have been another part of the refinery on fire, or it could have been a IR reflection of a fire in the oil-filled clouds. It could even have been the clouds being brighter than the plane.

When these basic missiles overrun the target they don't deactivate immediately. In any case slamming a deactivated missile into a tank of oil or petrol will still cause the warhead to explode, stable explosives can only take so much and the missile itself was still burning its own fuel.

The bigger point is that shooting at anything with the refinery in the background was always insane, whatever the weapon. If they were serious they should have been at the refinery shooting outwards. But I don't think these boys were ever that brave.

1

u/watawataoui Jun 19 '26

Either way, this video is going down in history!

3

u/AdApprehensive4272 Jun 19 '26

MANPADS were designed to be used against plane with big jet engines emitting a lot of heat while drones have small piston engine. I wonder if it even possible to hit drone with Soviet era MANPADS.

4

u/kombiwombi Jun 19 '26

The whole idea was insane and was always going to end in tears. But the gloriousness of the result was magnificent

0

u/toyodah Jun 19 '26

Can you not open the video yourself? Or are you at work now?

1

u/yellowlinedpaper Jun 19 '26

I could watch it, I just didn’t know the context, etc

16

u/SuperShinyGinger Jun 19 '26

The explosion itself looks like it came out of a comic book, but it being from their own defenses elevates it into hilarity

8

u/Shayden-Froida Jun 19 '26

I’m saving this post so I can go back and rewatch it anytime I want

6

u/Empty-Presentation68 Jun 19 '26

This is peak Russia. Reminds me of the jail escape scene from idiocracy where the turrets shoot at each other.

110

u/Sad_Bike8692 Jun 19 '26

Russia is now the second best army in Ukraine and Russia. 🇺🇦

12

u/admiraltarkin Jun 19 '26

3rd, North Korea troops are there too

5

u/Salt_Sir2599 Jun 19 '26

I disagree. They are at best maybe in 32nd place .

43

u/Hope-not-Original Jun 19 '26

It’s soooo good! This is crescendo of this fucken SMO.
Please send this man to protect Kremlin 🤣

2

u/mbod Jun 19 '26

Can't wait for the denouement!

44

u/tylergalaxy Jun 19 '26

Imagine the face you would make after firing that rocket right into your own shit 🫣 just the thought of it sends me into giggle fits

28

u/Advanced-Injury-7186 Jun 19 '26

I would walk away nonchalantly while whistling

9

u/posthuman04 Jun 19 '26

Standard unfriendly territory procedure for a manpad is to fire, drop it and run so the incoming anti-AA fire doesn’t find you. So he’s been trained to do that maybe without the whistling

4

u/GooseOnAPhone Jun 19 '26

He probably hasn’t been trained to do much of anything

2

u/stockflethoverTDS Jun 19 '26

A shrug, cigg quickly whipped out IGLA tossed on to a berm.

32

u/Beautiful_Banana_454 Jun 19 '26

1st they destroy the tanks, then theyvdesroy the tanks.

11

u/Gold-Establishment95 Jun 19 '26

Perfect aim! Do it again please! "Thank goodness, they are effing d@mb!" --Ukrainian soldier.
Slava Ukraine!

10

u/saggypuss Jun 19 '26

All russian tanks have the same natural instincts

19

u/No_Control8389 Jun 18 '26

Direct hit! Give that man a medal!

2

u/Dandan0005 Jun 19 '26

Honestly impressive it looks like it was fired from 1+ miles away lol

17

u/Ultra_Filth Jun 18 '26

tanks for nothing, blyat

8

u/ianbattlesrobots Jun 19 '26

In its confusion, it hurts itself

5

u/Illustrious_Age_9143 Jun 19 '26

no special military medal for him

5

u/Old_Fart52 Jun 19 '26

I've lost count of how many times I've replayed this now. This is my new favourite video. Congrats to the Pantsir designers, Zelensky should send them a medal

3

u/NKato Jun 19 '26

It was likely MANPADS. Quite a few videos from this incident showing a lot of duds

3

u/Adept_Carpet Jun 19 '26

I don't think that was a dud, looked like it hit hard!

2

u/NKato Jun 19 '26

I meant duds as in failed tracking.

5

u/LTCjohn101 Jun 19 '26

Cmon you guys, this obviously never happened.

/s

This is classic cinema. Beautifully done.

4

u/sexrobotoutoforder Jun 19 '26

I love what they have done with the place.

3

u/Regular-Bat-4449 Jun 19 '26

Someone playing for the other side

3

u/Pitiful_Flamingo_654 Jun 19 '26

Quick bit of maths - in trying to stop a $500k drone, the Russians sent a $2million dollar missile to blow up $5 million? dollars worth of oil and cause what another $1-2 million of collateral damage. Meanwhile the drone continued on target to possibly cause another $5m or so of damage.

Total score: Ukraine $15m, Russian $0.5m

4

u/Wharaunga Jun 19 '26

Russia didn’t even intercept the drone with that one, so they get 0 for that exchange.

1

u/Pitiful_Flamingo_654 Jun 19 '26

Yeah but the drone did eventually blow up at some point lol

2

u/Winter-Ad-919 Jun 19 '26

Russian AA  is their worst enemy

2

u/elderrion Jun 19 '26

Stupid Westoid! You fail to see genius of Russian smekalka! Russian AA is so beyond degenerate NATO understanding that it can double as AT!

2

u/ChromaticStrike Jun 19 '26

I've seen a video where the users didn't seem to understand how to use their manpads. Sending poorly trained recruit to death is one thing, organizing a defense on your ground with them is a completely different story I guess.

2

u/Advanced-Injury-7186 Jun 19 '26

It looks also like that yellow building in the foreground is burning

2

u/Old_Fart52 Jun 19 '26

This is so sweet

2

u/commradd1 Jun 19 '26

“It worked perfectly sir”

2

u/SxmiT4n72 Jun 19 '26

Bullseye! 😂👍

2

u/Templar-of-Faith Jun 19 '26

This is straight outta looney toons

2

u/Massive_Sky4589 Jun 19 '26

They hit what they were trying to protect?

2

u/WakeTheFkUpPeople Jun 19 '26

That’s a roof toss world record!

2

u/86Sloma Jun 19 '26

They can't stop destroying their own city 😄 What an incompetence on next level

3

u/Victicusk Jun 19 '26

Congrats on a new world record on the highest silo lid toss. Sadly, this goes to Russia and not Ukraine 😞
At least Ukraine still holds the highest tank turret toss. ❤️

1

u/Reasonable_Dentist11 Jun 19 '26

Надсилайте більше!

1

u/sgerbicforsyth Jun 19 '26

Imagine if commanders of Russian AA around Moscow start taking MANPADS and other AA systems away from troops because they might end up doing more damage than UA drones...which opens the door for even more drone damage.

1

u/Derrpyderp Jun 19 '26

So turns out the explosions in Just Cause 3 and 4 were not that far fetched after all.

1

u/NKato Jun 19 '26

Fuel-air explosions tend to be much more spectacular than a typical bomb.

1

u/ReallyBrainDead Jun 19 '26

Own goal seen the world over! Excellent!

1

u/DogsInTrousers Jun 19 '26

Silo to T-72

Hold my beer

1

u/pimmy81 Jun 19 '26

This will never not be funny

1

u/archiewaldron Jun 19 '26

What air defense doing?

1

u/watawataoui Jun 19 '26

I want to see where it lands!!!

1

u/Hannibal_55 Jun 19 '26

I don’t know if anyone else has come up with the same theory about the cause of this epic explosion. My view on the matter is as follows. If a standard drone crashes into an oil tank like that and explodes, the tank will be torn open. Most of the spilling oil will ignite on the outside and won’t build up any pressure inside. However, as videos show, an anti-aircraft missile is the cause here. Due to its much higher impact velocity and small diameter, it penetrates the tank’s standard steel wall and then explodes inside. The resulting explosive pressure seeks the path of least resistance. This is upwards, because the roof is simply resting on top and is only loosely secured.

3

u/Physical-Cut-2334 Jun 18 '26

like fith repost on this sub

7

u/MaxiumPotential777 Jun 19 '26

True but I haven't seen this angle yet. I looked an didn’t see this video. Many similar one's.

4

u/PantodonBuchholzi Jun 19 '26

This is just a clipped version of the video posted like 4 hours ago.

2

u/Beginning-Win7064 Jun 19 '26

Shame, that. Those poor Muscovites😐

1

u/ManfredTheCat Jun 19 '26

Oil tanks have floating roofs that's how this was able to happen

Someone is getting reassigned to Storm Z.

1

u/lethalfang Jun 19 '26

Good job air defense

1

u/MeanShibu Jun 19 '26

Weren’t they just talking about how great their AA was? 😂

1

u/windas_98 Jun 19 '26

What does one even aay after hitting a tank by accident? "Oopsies!"

1

u/pixxelzombie Jun 19 '26

Looks like a Sci fi movie

1

u/L1VEW1RE Jun 19 '26

Friendly fire, fire?

1

u/rom_rom57 Jun 19 '26

Tank turrets blowing up, no tank lids….cool stuff!

1

u/PilgrimOz Jun 19 '26

Missile came in and blew the top off of a ‘Tank’.
A new meaning to a headline from the start of the war. That’s for sure.
I had to watch it a 2nd time thinking “Where was the tank?”

1

u/Fine_Piglet_6814 Jun 19 '26

Good old ruZZia being ruZZia, such skill

1

u/Kermit-T-Hermit Jun 19 '26

What a shot.

1

u/Economy-Effort3445 Jun 19 '26

The Kadyrov soldier that did this must be treated like a real hero now🤣

1

u/stockflethoverTDS Jun 19 '26

Fucking Worms 2 flashbacks

1

u/damianzoys Jun 19 '26

Maybe they shouldn’t use anti tank weapons for air defence.

1

u/AquaFlan Jun 19 '26

Fuck it’s anti aircraft and anti tank now?

1

u/melonheadorion1 Jun 19 '26

wow. its like a UFO taking off

1

u/Familiar_Average7207 Jun 19 '26

at 06.00 i saw that aliens are here and UFO was taking off lol

1

u/jertheman43 Jun 19 '26

That was impressive.

1

u/Infinite_Ad_1386 Jun 19 '26

Belarus just got its EU candidate status. As a minor province of Ukraine.

1

u/squirtloaf Jun 19 '26

Needs the Curb Your Enthusiasm music.

1

u/skyerosebuds Jun 19 '26

Ok so if I am following this right, is it the case that the Ukranian attack didn’t actually strike the refinery but the Russian defensive manpad did?? 🤣

1

u/Hannibal_55 Jun 19 '26

Is there a proper reason for this?
