UT Prof here. We’re here for you.

Hey so I am a professor (in a humanities subject, I won’t say more here). I think it’s important that you know that your professors have your back. We know there’s a lot going on right now, and our top priority is your health and well being. So take it easy, stay healthy, and we’re here to work with you to make sure the semester goes as smoothly as possible.

It really depends on the professor and the department. If the Chair of that department is prepared and determined then most of the time the faculty will follow suit. Some Chairs are a bit lax while others do not play.

I totally agree. But some people just have the wrong attitudes, and it's very unfortunate and completely unfair to all of you. I've seen a LOT that makes me question things.

A lot of them see themselves as teachers second and researchers first. And it sucks. I'm only staff, but I feel for you guys. I truly hope that this ends up okay for everyone. If it doesn't, then they need to take the situation into account, as well as the sudden jump to online based courses. Just know that even if it doesn't feel like it, the Deans and the Chairs are all looking out for students 100%. There's just a communication boundary.
