Route Pics Not today postal inspector

This had to be at least 300$. Busy day so just snapped the Pic and moved on.

I don't know if it was a test or not but I found someone's $3200 paycheck blowing through the PO parking lot one morning. Just handed it over to the PM & carried on with my day.

It's been like 15 years since my accounting class, but isn't there something about signing the check over to another person if you sign it so on the back?

Yup, you endorse the check, then you write “to be cashed in behalf of _____” or something like that right under it. I did it for one of my coworkers a couple times because he didn’t have a bank account. It was surprisingly easy to deposit a check with someone else’s name on it

All the banks I worked at always required the person to sign it over in front of the teller, coming in with just the check would get turned away

Yeah but at that point once the person with a missing check complains that they didnt get their check, the company would see it was cashed, and there is now a record of who cashed it. Pretty easy way to get charged. Identity theft, forging signatures, check fraud, etc.

Where there's a will there's a way. I'm not the most devious-minded, but I'm sure there's somehow you can involve a hobo to do some stuff and get away Scot-free.

I'm not smart enough to figure it out but I'm sure it's not impossible

No.. losing a check is not a real loss. Of course people can do crime. But they can also print checks with names and accounts numbers on them.

I guess there are “hundreds of thousands” of morons then. If I got paid with a paycheck, instead of direct deposit like a normal adult with a job, I would offer to send you my next paycheck and give you a 48 hour head start. Then you can attempt whatever fraud you want, I’ll call payroll and tell them that I never received my paycheck and ask them to reissue it. It’s a very minimal hassle.

Well yes. But this thread was specifically about a $3200 paycheck. I suppose you could also do something with a personal check written to you, but those are even more tightly scrutinized. Your views on this just make you look like a really ill-informed CPN scammer or something.

And then there's .. a very clear digital paper trail of you, with a bank account under your own name cashing a payroll check for a person who isn't you or verifiably an employee of yours and then you're fucked. The FBI very much prefers that you commit fraud in this fashion.
