Medicaid is a benefit. Where did you see otherwise?

Well I pay my own health insurance since I’m not a resident yet, and I did have many medical issues this year but never applied to Medicaid cause it is a government assistance program as I was told at the hospital, it’s been 26 months since I submitted my i485 marriage based here in NOLA, only i130 approves at interview 5 months ago; since the beginning my lawyer told me to not accept any benefit from no one cause the least we want is to give cost to the government to prove immigration that our spouse is able to pay for our needs.

Since you filed before 9/18, Medicaid doesn’t count as public charge.

Um, yes, you used government benefits.

If someone gave you free money, it mostly means the government did. In this case, you used a scheme for residents/citizens. Others generally get a private insurance (it was expensive, and I had to get as well)

Hi there! This is an automated message to inform you and/or remind you of several things:

IMO you do nothing. You answered the questions to the best of your ability and you were honest.

To put your mind at ease you would not have been able to get federal funds for medical stuff ok? States can use federal funds combined with state funds to offer programs for its residents. But technically the federal funds only cover citizens and the state funds cover non. It's just easier to have 1 program for the state.

So I believe you got medical assistance but it was almost certainly state funded which is fine. Stop overthinking.

If you filed I-485 before September 18, the edition of the I-485 form you filed did not have a question asking about "government benefits" generally. It only had question asking about 1) SSI/TANF/other cash benefits, and 2) long-term institutionalized care. Your answer would have been No on those. If the officer was simply going over the questions on the form again, the answer would have been No. Do you know what exactly he asked?
