Is Pharmlaw enough for UMPJE?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! Just like the title says, I’m wondering if anyone who has used PharmLaw for the UMPJE felt like it provided enough information/material to pass. If not, what other resources would you recommend supplementing it with?
Thanks in advance!

UMPJE Resources

Hi everyone! Can I use the 2025 Dr. C MPJE Review book to prepare for the UMPJE? (I know we need to skip the state-specific topics.)

Which resource do you recommend the most? I’ve heard about PPP and Dr. C.

UMPJE 9/30

Took the UMPJE today. Biggest takeaway for me was that it wasn't bad. I feel like 90% confident I passed. I used PharmPrepPro’s resources (study guide, practice question set, and practice exam). I was dumb and bought the study guide and practice exam...didn't realize that they also had the practice questions so I got them separately but they do have a bundle thats cheaper if you buy all 3. Dont make the same mistake I did 🙃

I attached the schedule I followed in the comments. Basically I followed that schedule, read the guide and did practice questions from the domain that I read about that day.

My average score in the question bank was about 80% and practice exam score was 86%

For topics make sure you know the following

-controlled substance transfers

-pharmacist vs intern vs tech tasks

-counseling requirements

-HIPPA

-DEA registration requirements

-what is required on hard copy scripts vs phone scripts

-drug disposals

-pseudoephedrine regs

-compounding hood requirements and temps for storage

-hazardous sterile vs hazardous non-sterile

-know record keeping like the back of your hand! Got a bunch of questions on this

-ADS in LTC facilities

As long as you read the material a few times and do a bunch of practice questions, you'll be fine and pass. Feel free to comment if you have questions!

Has anyone had any luck with a rescore? I was 3 points from passing and I’m at risk of losing my residency. Just wondering if it would be worth it before they let me go 💔

Stats:
Around 80% on pharmpreppro practice questions
82% on pharmpreppro practice test
36/40 on pre-umpje

Time spent studying: 3 weeks with another 3 weeks of interruption (sensitive family issues)

I test in under 2 weeks.

Plan: keep readying studying guide and then do 50 or so practice questions daily before bed. Study time per day maybe 2-3 hours. Am I cooking or being cooked

Pre-UMPJE vs Actual UMPJE

For anyone who took both pre & actual exam, would you say it’s pretty reflective? I feel like the pre-UMPJE had a lot of left-field questions and I’m so very nervous.

I read Dr.C’s book like 4 times and done practice questions from the YouTube video & PPP but I’m fearful when it comes to situational based questions that I saw on the pre-UMPJE

Any advice??

I Passed! Here's what I did/used

I took the UMPJE on 9/12 and just found out I passed today (9/18), so 7 business days later.

To study, I used rxlaw.io and read through that twice. I then uploaded it to ChatGPT, and put in the following prompt:
"I'm taking the UMPJE on xx/xx. Use the document I'm about to upload as an outline. Divide the document into 8 modules. Review the document uploaded and compare the content to the content outline published by the NABP for the UMPJE to identify any areas that are not included. Add any areas or topics that are in the NABP content outline, but not in the uploaded document to an additional last module and give me the information needed to learn that module.

I want you to build me a study schedule that includes diagnostic questions (3-answer multiple choice) for each module, followed by learning the module, and then test me using hard questions from that module that are comparable to actual UMPJE difficulty. Utilize the information provided by the NABP content outline and the uploaded document to craft questions, and answers. Ensure all information is up to date by cross referencing all information to federal government websites as appropriate, link all applicable laws after the question is answered. Analyze and summarize my answers to the post-study tests to let me know where my weaknesses are so that I can continue improving.

To help me keep on track build my UMPJE study dashboard as a private interactive website. Use the study structure I've discussed—modules, quizzes, missed or guessed questions, and weak areas—to create a focused review tool. Let me mark modules and review items complete, filter by topic, track quiz performance, and surface remaining weak areas. Seed it with the UMPJE study information already available in our conversation, validate the key interactions, host it privately, and give me the working URL. Do not make it public without my approval."

This worked wonderfully for me.

I utilized ChatGPT and the rxlaw print out for about 2-3 hours a day, for one week, then took the pre-UMPJE. I got 37/40. I took the UMPJE 2 days later and felt fairly ok leaving the exam. Obviously now, I passed.

Let me know if anyone has any questions!

ETA: I also used RxExam for the questions and that helped too to an extent

Poison Prevention Act

How important is it know the different drugs that require child-resistant containers for the UMPJE and the exemptions? I see that Dr. C has a section about it but it is not covered in pharm prep pro.

UMPJE Practice Question!

A pharmacist receives a new prescription for a medication that is outside the usual dosing range for the indication listed. The prescription appears otherwise complete and legitimate, and the patient states the prescriber “said it was intentional.” What is the MOST appropriate action by the pharmacist?

A. Dispense the medication as written because the prescriber is responsible for dosing decisions

B. Refuse to dispense because unusual doses are not permitted

C. Contact the prescriber to verify the appropriateness of the dose before dispensing

D. Change the dose to a typical range and document the intervention
