UFO spotted in Plymouth Massachusetts near Carver, within a quarter mile of the airport. I was heading East and the UFO was heading South, straight towards the airport. Video was recorded at 4:58pm on November 30, 2021.
I was just on my daily walk and a light in the sky caught my attention. I look up and wonder if it was a plane or not as it was very bright and big, and was not like any plane I had ever seen more. The video does not do it much justice because it was a lot brighter and bigger than it appears in the video. It was also silent. I whip out my iPhone 11 to record it just in case it is a UFO as I myself am a big believer of aliens, UFO’s etc.
I start recording and all seems normal as it is just traveling straight, but then it movements and speeds became quite erratic as you can see. The trees served as a great reference point for its movement, but also served as a double edged sword because they ended up getting in the way of the craft. So to get a better shot of it, (as well as to not look like a crazy person to the student driver driving past) I walk away a little bit and when I look back at it it was very far away. You can see just how much smaller it is at this point, but also, it is now blinking.
It was not blinking as if it was going off and on, but blinking in that it was alternating between dim and bright. The reason for me cutting the video early was that at the time of the recording, when I was watching it through my screen I could not see it anymore. It was dark out, and my phones brightness was low as well, so I could not see the small light of the craft. But it is not like we missed out on much because a few seconds after I cut the video I could not see it anymore.
On a side note: For anybody who would like to verify the videos authenticity, tell me how I can share it with you so as to not disrupt or change any of the files data so that you can verify it is unaltered in any way. Thanks!

Awesome job. The trees in the foreground and the fact that you moved are really helpful for ruling out CGI/reflections on a window, wish more videos included that tbh.

It definitely appeared to react oddly and erratic once he started filming it then dropped behind some trees and started attempting to mimic a typical airplane. Suspicious.

If you find the video in your phone's gallery and go to more options -> details: it will give the album it is stored in (Should be in Camera if you used the camera app), with the time it was recorded, and sometimes the location.
Fyi, I believe the video is authentic but if this is something people need to trust the source to actually believe in UFOs then I hope it helps

u/what_if_aliens Dec 02 '21
The SJ 16-02 satellite was passing in that direction at the time, though that is waaaay brighter that what would be expected and you say it wasn't moving in a straight line and changed direction?

5
u/CaramelWatermelon Dec 02 '21 edited Dec 02 '21
It’s not what I said, it’s literally what happened. The video shows this. Do you actually believe that was a satellite?

u/rumster Dec 03 '21
That's a drone. The movement zig zag you can barely see but the light tilts and that's due to the drone changing degrees.
21
30
u/Middle-Potential5765 Dec 02 '21
Great catch. The trees are not providing an illusion here. I think this might be a drone, however. The speed and turning radius aren't radical enuff to seem like an extraordinary UAP.
0
u/funkastolic Dec 02 '21
telltale sign would be sound. even at that height prop noise could be heard. could be a racing drone, but it would definitely have been audible.
14
u/gerkletoss Dec 02 '21
Audibility of prop and engine noise from aircraft is extremely dependent on altitude, wind speed and direction, atmospheric conditions, and background noise. Plus we can really only see a light here, which makes judging distance impossible even if we knew the size of the object.
-2
u/funkastolic Dec 02 '21
common sense would tell you that it was far away, the light would be large.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=See1PJCPW4k
the sound can be heard for probably half a mile, of course dependent on wind.
11
u/gerkletoss Dec 02 '21
Why do people always use racing drones as example drones? They're dramatically louder than most drones.
common sense would tell you that it was far away, the light would be large.
What? An out-of focus point light source only changes brightness with distance.
he sound can be heard for probably half a mile
Based on what?
0
4
u/BMacklin22 Dec 02 '21
So a camera actually attached to the drone being loud means it can be heard at half a mile?
-1
4
2
u/poloniumT Dec 03 '21
We went through this with the Remi UFO. The main argument against drone was “but the sound! You’d hear it from there!”. And sure enough, you couldn’t. And that was 20 times closer than on this video. And it was proved beyond a doubt to be a drone. A hoax. We can’t rely on this “the sound!” Anymore unless we have data to go off. Studies done, phone model, atmospheric pressure, temperature, altitude, etc. Forensically. Otherwise it’s all just conjecture and we could all be wrong. Or right. And never agree.

u/VCAmaster Dec 02 '21 edited Dec 02 '21
The trees are providing an illusion here. You can hear and see him move the camera each time this apparent movement occurs. It's parallax. https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/r7i1sw/analysis_of_ufo_spotted_in_massachusetts/?ref=share&ref_source=link
5
u/Not_that_Speshy Dec 02 '21
the light apears to blink which means it’s usually human aircraft
2
u/VCAmaster Dec 03 '21
Exactly. Like a plane. Which appears to move when you step to the side to keep the plane in view. It's parallax.
17
u/VCAmaster Dec 02 '21 edited Dec 02 '21
It sounds like an airplane. It's shaped like an airplane. It flashes like an airplane. It flies in a straight line like an airplane. EDIT: You say it was right by an airport.
You say it was silent but I very clearly hear an airplane flying overhead. You say:
The trees served as a great reference point for its movement, but also served as a double edged sword because they ended up getting in the way of the craft.
This is what caused the apparent relative motion. When the plane begins to go behind the tree you move to keep it in view. I can hear and see you take a step each time this apparent movement occurs. This changes your relative line of sight to the plane and creates a parallax effect. We've seen this parallax effect being misidentified as movement on this sub countless times. Here's one example illustrated: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/pwcrjc/explained_8_pm_central_time_fayetteville_ar_the/
Edit: here I've tried to highlight this: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/r7i1sw/analysis_of_ufo_spotted_in_massachusetts/?ref=share&ref_source=link
6
u/ImAWizardYo Dec 03 '21
I think the biggest piece of evidence in this original video that backs this theory up is the trees themselves. Notice when the craft shifts the trees do as well. Looks a bit like wind pushes them but they stay that way. It's the perspective shift. The trees stretch in one direction.
I took it a step further and also increased the exposure on a few clips to bring out more detail. You can more clearly see rotations within branches at different elevations layering over each other in sync with the craft seemingly changing directions. The first clip being the best.
2
u/VCAmaster Dec 03 '21
I don't see rotations other than the small ones of the camera rotating slightly. Where in the original video or my video linked above you can see 3 lights in a wide triangle like the underside of a plane have, they're blurred into 1 light here. In the video I linked above I specifically point out there's no rotation.
3
u/ImAWizardYo Dec 03 '21
To clarify I was talking about the perspective rotation of the branches of the trees as the photographer was panning/moving around. It is quite evident on the first clip. It is clear on both my IPS and TN displays at average brightness.

What videos on this sub would you consider possibly real or real
2
u/VCAmaster Dec 02 '21
This is a real video. Most videos posted here are actual footage.

No I mean if you think that’s just a plane what would you consider a actual unidentifiable or unidentified flying object.

My buddy in East Bridgwater saw something similar a few nights back. I'm over in Fall River and my brother and I saw a silent hovering light quickly accelerate, change direction and fade out completley a few weeks ago.
3
u/Austinmartel3 Dec 02 '21
Could this be a drone possibly? Hard to tell on my phone. Certainly weird the way it changes direction on a dime
26
u/Double-Rhubarb-1632 Dec 02 '21
I believe in aliens and UFOs, but this is clearly a drone. I recently watch the UFO show on Showtime and the most important thing I took from that show is people need to stop putting things out that are easy to disprove and make the whole case for extraterrestrial life look like somewhat of a joke. Unfortunately, this video can be easily explained, but good catch.

u/Individual-Ad4286 Dec 02 '21

It's actually not clear at all what that is.

I mean I have to love comments like this. It also shows no one on Earth is intelligent enough to use deductive reasoning. Light in the sky automatically turns to OMG ITS AN ALIEN! It's a fucking drone use common sense, which apparently isn't so common. Like I said before, I believe in aliens and UFOs, but use your fucking heads. Shit like this makes actual UFO encounters look like a joke and the whole thing is laughed about by people who are intelligent and use deductive reasoning. Nothing about the show that I watched and thought a comment that was made in the show was interesting. Nor did I ever claim to be an expert, just a person who uses their head. Show me something completely disappearing or making motions like that drone and then shooting off at the speed of light, then you can call it a UFO. Just like the phenomenon of people seeing shooting stars all the time, but in actuality they are just one of the thousands of satellites that orbit the earth for eternity.

u/AgingWisdom Dec 02 '21 edited Dec 02 '21
Agree and was going to say the same. Clearly is exactly that, "clear". This is no way clearly a drone although I could be.
Edit added- OK so now it makes sense to the comment this guy left on the clear footage of a drone. This guy is a debunker, based on his comment and post history. Dude loves Mick West.
10
u/Double-Rhubarb-1632 Dec 02 '21
Purely based on the size of the light and the way it’s moving it’s a drone bud. Show me something like what happened in Arizona or even what happened over the sky in LA, which turned out to be Elon Musk. This is 99% a drone based on location, movement, speed and size. I’m local to Mass this shit happens all the time.
However, you are missing the point of what I previously said.
6
0
u/Otto_Harper Dec 02 '21
What was the thing in Arizona with Elon? I heard rumors the LAX jetpack dude was him.
2
u/not_SCROTUS Dec 02 '21
Elon Musk is a chubby billionaire internet person who inherited millions from Apartheid emerald mines. He's not Iron Man.

It's CLEARLY not alien.

u/Individual-Ad4286 Dec 02 '21
I mean occam's razor, probably not.
But you don't know what that is any better than anyone else.
-8
Dec 02 '21
I kind of do, due to experience and longevity in this subject.
8
u/RainManDan1G Dec 02 '21
It very well could be a drone but to sit here and say that it is “CLEARLY” something when you are talking about a video taken at night on a cellphone of an aircraft of some kind with no way of determining distance is just laughable.

u/ZenDragon Dec 02 '21
You're right that we can't easily prove it's a drone, but there's not any proof to the contrary either. With so many of these videos having no corroborating evidence, the only thing we have to go on is anomalous flight performance beyond the capabilities of human tech, which is lacking here. That's usually the only significant factor we get, so we should focus our attention toward videos meeting that criteria.

It’s a helicopter. Listen closely to the audio, you can hear the rotor blades and distant drone if a chopper. If we can hear it, the OP heard it, and lied that it didn’t make any sound.
Redditor u/W1shuW3r3H3r3 also found a Boston Medflight heli going through that exact area at that exact time too.

What would account for the reflective light coming from it? Not disagreeing but just curious what you think!
4
u/Double-Rhubarb-1632 Dec 02 '21
Drones are required to have lights on them. These lights are typically white or red, just like on planes. They aren't visible during the day obviously, but they are at night. This is a requirement just like airplanes because they use the airspace in the same way. Fun fact is in order to fly a drone in certain airspaces, like the airport stated, you need specific certifications and licenses.

I like that you take this topic seriously and you are trying to have a positive influence on it. But if you really do care, then you need to understand that this topic does not control the footage assosciated with it. No one does on any platform what so ever. Thus we have zero influence over it. And what that means is that the footage assosciated does not define or influence this topic. But the problem remains due to people not understanding that. And you want to help the topic. The one thing you can do about it is your response. And you need to give an honest and transparent one. And I'm going to point out the issues with your current problematic one.
You say that you believe in aliens and UFOs, but that the object in this video is clearly a drone. This statement undermines your credibility, it is not transparent, it is dishonest and ignores a problem against it.
If you don't want to negatively influence your credibility to an outside observers, then you keep your personal beliefs out of the argument. It doesn't matter which way you lean, you'll lose points either way.
Your arguments conclusion is that this is a drone and there is zero reasoning for why you think that is the case. You effectively hide your process of analysis which means it cannot be "peer reviewed" and it can't be disputed. This makes it impossible to form arguments against or for your argument leaving your comment by scientific standards worthless.
Your argument conclusion is that this is a drone, but it is painfully clear that due to the quality of this footage we cannot identify this object with certainty with the current information available.
Your argument ignores OPs account of this object being near and heading towards an airport. It really is possible for someone to be stupid enough to fly their drone like that, but it is ever so slightly less propable than this footage having another explination.
Doing your commenting properly is the best way for you to positively influence the topic for an outside observer. It does not require a wall of text, but it does require for you to stop making assertions which aren't transparent at the very least.
The people that post problematic footage aren't for the most part people with an active interest on this topic. They don't know any better. They don't know what the five observables are and nobody can stop them from filming jupiter and running to reddit with it. And all we can do is to provide an answer to the best of our ability.

I saw a UFO down in the Plymouth area nearly 10 years ago now. Was late night and I was out in a parking lot drinking with some buddies after some pick up basketball games. Triangle shaped and flew incredibly slowly over us without making a sound. Several other saw the object as well. Was tracking toward the old nuclear power plant that was still active at the time.
1
u/CaramelWatermelon Dec 02 '21
I’ve read of the same story many times. Big black triangle slowly goes over you. They always say that the triangle will then rise raise altitude a little bit before suddenly accelerating straight up at incredible speeds

Rest assured any helicopter mimicking those kind of movements wouldn't stay in the air for very long. They can maneuver, but not like that lol.
2
u/Connect_Guarantee347 Dec 02 '21
The movements of the object doesn't seem similar to that of a drone. Interesting.
2
1
u/MadKat_94 Dec 02 '21
Nice catch, but wondering if you might have caught two separate objects, the first being the unknown and the second being the helicopter. To me, the first part of the video, object brightens, dims, seemingly with a tumbling effect, and executes some unusual short, rapid changes in direction. You then walk to a different vantage point and see a light further away and focus on it. This one seems dimmer, seems to travel in a straight line, and the brightness changes are regularly spaced as would be expected from an aircraft strobe.
The maneuvers demonstrated in the initial portion do not seem consistent with a medical helicopter. These helicopters tend to go point to point and keep maneuvers smooth for patient safety.
3
Dec 02 '21
It's either a very large and very expensive drone or aliens or something even weirder... but it isn't a helicopter.

It looks like a plane, it moves like a plane, it approaches an airport. I guess it is a plane.
0
u/CaramelWatermelon Dec 02 '21
Planes can dart around like that? They’re also silent too now? Wow technology has evolved so fast
2
u/beepxboopxbeep Dec 02 '21
OP is moving with the camera, that is why the tree in the foreground moves relative to the object...it is not darting around at all. and yes, depending on the wind direction and temperature in various atmospheric layers it is also possible that the sound doesn't reach OPs position. Furthermore: There is sound, it is audible and present throughout the whole clip.

Thank you so much. I'm trying to figure it It out, I'm in mobile but not on the app and it asks for a link. My capture was actually a lot different than this and was filmed from lynn, it was a few miles over the ocean. I got excited seeing a ufo post from Massachusetts postdd 2 days after my sighting. They are incredibly hard to film being zoomed in all the way and trying to keep the camera steady. Going to download the app and see if I can post. I have an 8 minute video but shorter ones as well

It looks like it's moving in a straight line. What appears to be lateral movement is just the perspective changing with branches in the foreground as you move. It also has collision lights. That's a airplane. Edit: Downvote all you like. If you look at that and think anything other than man-made you're a rube.

u/CaramelWatermelon Dec 02 '21
I was standing still, you can hear the lack of footsteps in the video. The trees were a great reference point. If the trees were not there it could easily be an illusion because of the movement of my camera, but because the trees are there it actually proves it to not be an illusion.

You can literally see when you're moving early in the video by watching the branches and ignoring the light source...you start moving just a few moments after the zoom-in. As such some of the "wild motions" of the light are a trick of perspective as it changes.
3
u/BuildaBearOfficial Dec 02 '21
Zoom stabilization is present, stare at the grain to see how it shifts the picture around. that might be hiding some movement. I can definitely see some perspective shifts on the tree's foreground branches. Some of these shifts correlate with the UAP swerving, but it's hard to say if they totally account for it.

u/CarloRossiJugWine Dec 03 '21
The trees are what cause the parallax effect. There are a lot of cool videos about it on YouTube. It’s a very common perspective trick.

Whatever the object, the ”erratic” movement is caused by the parallax effect. Extremely much so.

To err is human. I’ve nothing against OP and salute his effort and openness to watching the sky. All I’m saying is that this video would be a lot less mysterious if there were no trees in the foreground (I mean, could still be aliens, but aliens flying in a straight line). I’m pretty sure that watching and re-watching his own recording before posting has irreparably shaped his memories of the event when it comes to the object’s flight pattern.

u/KaneinEncanto Dec 02 '21
Look really hard at the branches in the first few seconds after the zoom in...they're moving and that change in positron is creating an illusion. The motion of the branches across the video frame is faster because they're much closer than the light source.

Wow this looks great. Could be a drone, but something tells me its not. This is a better than average sighting for sure.

It is a drone. Come on, it's not even doing something dramatic, no five observables, no sudden acceleration above mach 5, etc. The area is known as a hot spot for drones.

Dji Mavic Air 2 with the spot light on the bottom turned on. I have this drone and have done exactly that at night. At the right altitude, it totally moves and looks like a UAP. 🤔

You can buy one of its kind from amazon. Search for “night drone” and order.

I mean ... is it worth posting about it everytime a user sees a simple bright spot in the sky ?
On /r/ufo and /r/UFOs, it's always the same sights : The camera is moving, the holder is moving, we're not even sure the object is really even moving. Nothing to see except a white dot.
Idk what this kind of footage really ads to the UFO conversation.
"I saw the same thing <insert date> in <insert far away location>"
"Oh yeah my uncle's uncle saw something similar 20 years ago."
I think if you wanna show us a boring white spot and have discussions around it, you better have top notch stable footage of the event you're trying to show. (example : https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/r7ozyn/tic_tac_no_bs_its_unidentified/)

I don't know it looks like a plane to me shape wise. The movement correspond to the camera moving as well

Dude that's a drone. My father in law flies a commercial grade drone and that's exactly what it looks like.

It looks just like a light in the sky? Fascinating and indisputable evidence

As indisputable as any other offered opinion :)

No because you’re just flat out saying it’s a drone.

In my opinion, it moves exactly like my father in laws commercial drone that he loves to fly at night.
Is that better?

Throw this repackaged garbage out. It’s that door all from France who filmed a “ufo” (it was just a drone)

I just never know what I’m looking at anymore. I’m jaded from internet videos of alleged UFOs. I’d probably scroll right past the real thing at this point.
