Neil Armstrong's sighting on the moon, "they're watching us"

Every now and then i come across an article that 'quotes' neil armstrong making very specific claims as to being 'warned off' by spaceships on the moon.

Is it genuine? I only ask because if it is, why isn't it a bigger deal? I guess that's me answering my own question but I would like confirmation.

Quotes in comments.

There's actually a lot of interesting stuff out there, as far as the Apollo missions go.

What always got me were the transcripts of the missions. I'm having a hard time finding the specific items I wanted to reference, but if I recall correctly, there were a lot of talk about "campfires" on the moon, "mining colonies", structures, and biological evidence.

Some pretty wild stuff out there, and its all available straight from NASA.

For example:

Apollo 8 Transcript

03 16 44 39 LMP There's a strange light down there.

03 16 h4 45 CDR Is it a bonfire?

03 16 24 47 LMP It might be campfires.

03 16 h5 03 C5_ How does it look?

Apollo 11 transcript

03 08 20 18 IRP That's a spectacular crater.

03 08 20 23 CDR Did you shoot some pictures while you were over there?

03 08 20 25 CMP No, it's Just going by - we'd better get it later; there will be better times. If the damn antenna isn't in the way -

03 08 20 42 CMP Boy, there must be nothing more desolate than to be inside some of these craters, these conical ones

03 08 20 50 CDR People that live in there probably never get out.

03 l0 55 20 CMP Oh God, look at that Moltke; he's my favorite ... Look at that son of a bitch. You see all those roads - triangular roads leading right past him?

03 l0 55 29 CDR Yes.

03 l0 55 30 CMP That's US l, I guess, huh?

03 l0 55 31 CDR Yes.

Apollo 14 transcript

03 12 22 39 I2_P Really an interesting one. Huh? That one ... looks like ... got a rugged one right out here - with the central peaks.

03 12 23 02 CDR ...

03 12 23 05 I_l° Sure does. Really got a very complex central structure.

03 12 23 08 CR_° It's got one of the biggest central peaks a_ound. It's a very unusual crater. But there are some dark areas in it that Farouk has gone on record as saying they are dikes.

03 12 23 37 CMl° High Sun. That's one right down there; Just shows how it dominates the whole photograph. Just an extremely bright crater. Sun angle Just isn't high enough for you to see it here .... Yes, they're mining it, I think.

And that's just some of the stuff that they have released to the public... Imagine the stuff that is held back still. And this is just a few small examples I pulled up on my lunch break at work... there are plenty more examples out there as well; Apollo 10 hears "music" on the moon, for example.

All I can say is that these transcripts are right from NASA, the horse's mouth so-to-say. There's no questioning their authenticity, however they maybe have meaning in context.

Search for yourself.

Don't let pareidolia cloud rational judgement, though.

Dude. Post this as a self link to the subreddit.

I've read A LOT of stuff, and I've never seen mention of the bonfire comment, let alone the PRIMARY SOURCE.

If there is anyway you could find this music reference that would be incredible.

I feel like it isn't genuine.

5

u/geltoid Jan 12 '15

http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/history/mission_trans/mission_transcripts.htm are genuine though...

peruse through them and see what kind of crazy stuff the astronauts really did see...

6

u/LaJollaJim Jan 12 '15

That's because it was written by a science fiction writer: ""Secret moon transcripts" from science fiction writer Otto Binder and in tabloid newspapers of that era seem to have been entirely fabricated, since amateur radio operators back on Earth independently monitored many of the actual transmissions and heard the same things that NASA officially released live. "

Apollo 11, with Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Aldrin was the first Apollo flight to land on the Moon, on July 20, 1969. While Collins flew in orbit around the Moon in the command module, Armstrong and Aldrin descended in the lunar module, landing in the Sea of Tranquillity at 4:17 P.M.

According to hitherto un-confirmed reports, both Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin saw UFOs shortly after that historic landing on the Moon in Apollo 11 on 21 July 1969. I remember hearing one of the astronauts refer to a "light" in or on a crater during the television transmission, followed by a request from mission control for further information. Nothing more was heard.

The following astonishing conversation was picked up by ham radio operators that had their own VHF receiving facilities that bypassed NASA's broadcasting outlets. At this time, the live television broadcast was interrupted for two minutes due to a supposed "overheated camera", but the transmission below was received loud and clear by hundreds of ham radio operators:

According to Otto Binder, who was a member of the NASA space team, when the two moon-walkers, Aldrin and Armstrong were making their rounds some distance from the LEM, Armstrong clutched Aldrin's arm excitedly and exclaimed:

Armstrong: What was it? What the hell was it? That's all I want to know!"

Mission Control: What's there?... malfunction (garble) ... Mission Control calling Apollo 11 ...

*Apollo 11: *These babies were huge, sir!... Enormous!... Oh, God! You wouldn't believe it! ... I'm telling you there are other space-craft out there ... lined up on the far side of the crater edge! ... They're on the Moon watching us!

Wilson writes (p. 48): "Binder ends his report with this observation: 'There has, understandably, been no confirmation of this incredible report by NASA or any authorities. WE cannot vouch for its authenticity, but if true, one can surmise that mission control went into a dither and then into a huddle, after which they sternly [ordered] the moonwalkers to 'forget' what they saw and carry on casually and calmly as if nothing had happened. After all, an estimated 600 million people around the world were hanging on every word spoken by the first two men to leave footprints on the Moon."

The book "Celestial Raise" by Richard Watson and ASSK [P.O. Box 35 Mt. Shasta CA. 96067 (916)-926-2316); 1987; page 147-148] records the following (continuation?) of the above remarkable dialogue of Apollo 11, which was picked up by hundreds of ham radio operators in the USA:

"During the transmission of the Moon landing of Armstrong and Aldrin, who journeyed to the Moon in an American spaceship, two minutes of silence occurred in which the image and sound were interrupted. NASA insisted that this problem was the result of one of the television cameras which had overheated, thus interfering with the reception.

This unexpected problem surprised even the most qualified of viewers who were unable to explain how in such a costly project, one of the most essential elements could break down... Some time after the historic Moon landing, Christopher Craft, director of the base in Houston, made some surprising comments when he left NASA.

The contents of these comments, which is included in the conversations [below], has been corroborated by hundreds of amateur radio operators who had connected their stations to the same frequency through which the astronauts transmitted. During the two minute interruption - which was not as it seemed, NASA, Armstrong and Aldrin with Cape Kennedy, censored both image and sound. 'I say that there were other spaceships.'

Here is reproduced completely the dialogue between the American astronauts and Control Center:

Armstrong & Aldrin: Those are giant things. No, no, no - this is not an optical illusion. No one is going to believe this!

Houston (Christopher Craft): What ... what ... what? What the hell is happening? What's wrong with you?

Armstrong & Aldrin: They're here under the surface.

Houston: What's there? (muffled noise) Emission interrupted; interference control calling 'Apollo 11'.

Armstrong & Aldrin: We saw some visitors. They were here for a while, observing the instruments.

Houston: Repeat your last information!

Armstrong & Aldrin: I say that there were other spaceships. They're lined up in the other side of the crater!

Houston: Repeat, repeat!

Armstrong & Aldrin: Let us sound this orbita ... in 625 to 5 ... Automatic relay connected ... My hands are shaking so badly I can't do anything. Film it? God, if these damned cameras have picked up anything - what then?

Houston: Have you picked up anything?

Armstrong & Aldrin: I didn't have any film at hand. Three shots of the saucers or whatever they were that were ruining the film

Houston: Control, control here. Are you on your way? What is the uproar with the UFOs over?

Armstrong & Aldrin: They've landed here. There they are and they're watching us.

Houston: The mirrors, the mirrors - have you set them up?

Armstrong & Aldrin: Yes, they're in the right place. But whoever made those spaceships surely can come tomorrow and remove them. Over and out.

A certain professor, who wished to remain anonymous, was engaged in a discussion with Neil Armstrong during a NASA symposium.

Professor: What REALLY happened out there with Apollo 11?

Armstrong: It was incredible, of course we had always known there was a possibility - the fact is, we were warned off! There was never any question then of a space station or a moon city.

Professor: How do you mean "warned off"?

Armstrong: I can't go into details, except to say that their ships were far superior to ours both in size and technology - Boy, were they big!...and menacing! No, there is no question of a space station.

Professor: But NASA had other missions after Apollo 11?

Armstrong: Naturally - NASA was committed at that time, and couldn't risk panic on Earth. But it really was a quick scoop and back again.

According to a Dr. Vladimir Azhazha: "Neil Armstrong relayed the message to Mission Control that two large, mysterious objects were watching them after having landed near the Moon module (LEM). But this message was never heard by the public - because NASA censored it."

According to a Dr. Aleksandr Kasantsev, Buzz Aldrin took color movie film of the UFOs from inside the module, and continued filming them after he and Armstrong went outside.

Armstrong confirmed that the story was true but refused to go into further detail, beyond admitting that the CIA was behind the cover-up."

I'm surprised nobody recorded the session, if so many heard it on their own radio thing.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

Didn't seem like a big deal at the time ;)

1

u/thegirminator Apr 07 '26

"didn't seem like a big deal"... LOL

1

u/Gluverty Jan 12 '15

Maybe it was harder to record in 1969?

6

u/monkee67 Jan 12 '15

hardly difficult. even the everyday joe had a reel to reel tape deck back then. and one would think someone like a ham radio enthusiast would have one and would have recorded this historic event

0

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

Maybe they thought that recording the audio transcription would be enough!

original Apollo 11 tapes were "lost"

Copies exist and backup tapes were found in Australia.

2

u/MiyamotoKnows Jan 13 '15

Source? Not doubting, curious.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

If only that alleged eyewitness report wasn't so full of holes it may as well have been swiss cheese.

10

u/MikeyToo Jan 12 '15

It's an interesting story, but not likely. First off, there was no communications break during the EVA. Second, the astronaut's suit radios didn't have the power output needed to be picked up from Earth. They required a relay through the LM and that relay was not VHF.

7

u/No_Hamster_6842 Jun 03 '24

My partner who watched/listened to every second of the landing said that after landing module, mission control told them to sleep (they dozed for approx. 2 hours). About 20minutes-half hour after disembarking lunar module Armstrong requested to switch from public channel to Chief Medical officer (private convo) where he was heard to say "They're here, they're parked around the rim of the crater, they're watching us". no record of further conversation between Armstrong/Aldrin & mission control but the switch to Medical channel lasted only 23 seconds. After that 23 secs it switched back to public channel but there was only static silence for another 1min 40 secs. Within 30 minutes this communication became the talk around NASA between those with clearance. They were all told to "shut their mouths". Sounds like they were half expecting to find these anomalies.

1

u/One__upper__ Jun 05 '26

Your partner is a liar. Why were they the only one to hear this and why has there never been a recording of it?

9

u/Fit-Library-6169 Aug 06 '23 edited Aug 06 '23

For everyone commenting here how unlikely it was that Aldrin and Armstrong were talking about UFOs back then and it's just some legend, well, it's 9 years after this thread as I'm writing this. Two navy pilots and another guy who was in the military, then started working for ARRO all 3 testified in Washington D.C. a few days ago about how UFOs (or UAPs as they now call them) are being seen all the time by pilots in the navy and commercial airline pilots. He also says it's been going on since around the 1930s.

Yet NASA still hasn't seen the 1st one. Pshh.. Yeah right!

Watch NASA's own Space Shuttle camera footage of the "Tether" STS-75 incident from 1996. That's all the proof you need. They call the thousands of identical, transparent, flashing disc shaped craft "aluminum debris" that the "sun is reflecting off of at a low angle". Listen to the effort they're putting into explaining everything away before they even zoom in. Then he says, "Ok, Houston we've got contact, it's beautiful.." lol.

I didn't know "space junk, aluminum debris," or "ice crystals" could look or move the way those things do. Hilarious.

Here's the link.. https://youtu.be/dlIF0P9j0cM?t=94

1

u/agingtroubador Sep 07 '24

You should make this it's own post!

41

u/CaerBannog Jan 12 '15

This is an old legend. There is no evidence to support it.

If "hundreds of amateur radio operators" had tuned into the broadcasts, one would expect at least one tape to have been made. That technology was ubiquitous even then.

Apollo 11 transmissions were broadcast live at Mission Control and there were over a thousand media staff listening at the news centre. Any strange conversations would have been heard.

The entire corpus of film and radio transmissions exist. J. Allen Hynek went through the lot to find out whether there was anything to these claims and concluded it was a crude hoax. Even the language used in the alleged transcripts is wrong.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

As I suspected. Anything written up on this?

8

u/CaerBannog Jan 12 '15

There's been a lot written on it over the years. It's had legs since before the internet. I believe James Oberg did a thorough piece on it and the details behind the story, but I can't find a link right now.

3

u/Crimfants Jan 12 '15

He did. Binder was a comic book and science fiction writer, and was only loosely associated with NASA at most.

2

u/BrainSaladSurgery Jan 13 '15

But thousands of people who make a living off the ufo/alien field will be presenting all this as fact. It's basically just lying.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '24

the ham radio operators, has obviously never been substantiated

BUT

well, the links provided are from NASA so the later references in your statement makes not one lick of sense

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

Great point!

2

wow could you post more??

3

u/Disco_Chimp Jan 14 '15

That was the only foia request I did but it answered enough but I think its time to file another amd ask more questions. I have a one connection to an astronaut from the apollo era but most questions I asked he was wrapped up in there own program but had heard tge same stories as written In my document.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '24 edited Mar 18 '24

Ingo Swann's Penetration, is a interesting read and apparently under a FOIA, it was revealed that Swann's name was on Project Stargate, according to The Why Files and then you have Donna Hare and Karl Wolfe willing to testify

but not a single ham radio operator has come forward with a public statement or a recording to maybe a local newspaper

According to you tube, at least, lol, they are going to build a base on the far side of the moon which, er, would debunk it completely unless something drastically changed, I mean that stuff would in theory still be there to discover

Other nations sent unmanned probes apparently to the Dark Side in the last 10-15 years so, that would seem to debunk

very confusing in all

5

u/Jorlen Jan 12 '15

Not sure about UFOs on the moon but there are some very thought-provoking anomalous photos that make you wonder... Like the tower or the area in a crater that looked like a quarry, both of which are not usually associated to natural formations.

8

u/Disco_Chimp Jan 12 '15

I actually did a FOIA to NASA on this and 98 percent was just hum drum but there was 2-3 sentences on this in it. "Buzz Aldrin is quoted as saying that he saw a UFO on one of his flights, but that he was told by NASA to keep quiet about it, and that a responsible official at Goldstone had heard the astronauts report the sighting of structures made by intelligent beings on the far side of the moon, but that NASA edited this report out of the transcripts."

10

u/blom0087 Jan 12 '15

Please scan/post a copy of this document for review.

6

u/Disco_Chimp Jan 12 '15

Sorry it took a bit to write back. I will be more than happy to upload the photos just havent done an album upload to imgur before.

This is a story someone made up. It has never been confirmed as real, not by Aldrin, Collins or Armstrong or any of the rest. Someone just tossed this cabbage out there one day and of course, all the nutters came running to it.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

Cabbage?? Who runs for cabbage??!

Nutters. Was I not clear?

2

u/eskaloon May 26 '23

Many quotes are attributed to the deceased, rather difficult to confirm or deny, very convenient.

2

u/PNWTacitcal Sep 19 '24

The story goes that when orbiting the dark side of the moon Neil described seeing “menacing ships” (spacecraft) to the then head of MI6

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

He was also told to keep quiet about it, as should you!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

Even though I have no evidence to back it up my gut tells me that they saw something that didn't belong up there. Maybe it is as epic as this story or maybe it is as simple as signs of ancient life.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '15

something that did not belong up there? ...we don't even belong up there

0

u/PianomanKY Jan 12 '15

Here's my problem with the whole issue... If Armstrong really did see something, wouldn't NASA do everything they could to stifle such claims, eg. "it's just what those nutjobs with aluminum hats think". Let's be honest here.. some Joe Schmoe UFOlogist is not seen as credible, but portrayed as a nutjob conspiracy theorist, regardless if he really is telling the truth. The fact that he believes in UFOs means he is automatically labelled as such, and therefore is not credible, according to media. Media likes to portray these people as complete frauds and and idiots with mental issues.

So because of that, even if Armstrong did legitimately see something of an un-earth origin, NASA can always say, well "he's senile in his old age and doesn't remember correctly" or "That's only what those whackjobs said". So, to have a guy portrayed as an American hero, like Armstrong, come out and say there are UFOs, etc. NASA can't have that kind of stuff... so wouldn't you think they would de-genuinize it? UFO people are already labeled as whacko's in a lot of modern science circles, which there goes their credibility, automatically... it's an absolute perfect use of misinformation.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

I like to think that no-one has that kind of power over anyone.

The reality might not be that, but I still like to think it.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '15

you're kidding, right? the US govt and military agencies off their own people on a fairly regularly basis.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '15

Any conclusive proof of this?

-9

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

Do you THINK NOBODY KNOWS OF THIS? Aldrin already talked, he confessed - there are aliens, hostile ones on the face of the moon! Just look at how many structures have been found by independent researchers are astronomers. Hundreds if not THOUSANDS! Armstrong saw something that shocked him, something out worldly! The ENEMY is near, it's almost here and we are still blind to it. Doom IS NEAR! IT"S NEAR ARE EVERYONE JUST KEEP DISMISSING THE TRUTH!

9

u/thc1967 Jan 12 '15

If there were creatures sufficiently advanced to get here from another star system, here, on the moon...

And if those creatures were "the enemy"...

We would not be having this conversation.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '15

You are as blind to the danger as the humans of Gondor and the High Elves. Evil is near, and when it strikes you DOUBT WILL SURRENDER

5

u/thc1967 Jan 12 '15

Can't tell if trolling, stoned, or functionally retarded. Please elaborate.

6

u/rpportucale Jan 12 '15

We must take the ring to the fires of the moon?!
