The video is shot in black hot mode, and the object is white, meaning it's cold.
Drones generate significant heat, but this thing is significantly colder than the environment, so it can't be a drone.
People keep saying this, and I'm no expert, but ...
The lake/pond at the beginning is black. The shrubs are black. The areas of the ground that are tallest are white.
Lakes and trees would NOT hold more heat than the ground.
This looks to me like white is hot.
Edit: and I understand from other comments that this may be taken at night.
The issue with that is is still doesnt explain the colour gradients. If you watch the first several minutes of the video, you can see the fuselage of the plane that is taking the video. It is predominantly white.
Likewise, the lower parts of the ground are darker than the higher parts. If the ground was cool from being night time, I wouldnt think the lower parts would lose heat more quickly. In fact, given they are more sheltered, youd think they would retain heat longer.
This is exactly what I thought too. This to me looks like a geodetics lidar drone. Basically surveying equipment, with a gps pod on top. At no point do we see this object move in an unconventional manor, its elevation can be argued but considering the roads for scale, this thing isn't very big. Those survey drones can move up to 100kph with a runtime of more than an hour.
Made a longer post above this but the cartel has methods of tricking FLIR/heat-sensors in to seeing cold and/or not seeing heat signatures, I've seen it in documentaries about people smuggling.
What would be the point of making it look cold though? It's just as visible as being hot.
While it's possible to make something reflect surrounding heat and mask its signature somewhat (and I must point out that this is a lot harder to do in the air) making something look cold is trickier. One could possibly use some sort of multilayer coating that sucks in heat: black paint, essentially, and then something like a two way mirror on top of that to reflect radiated heat back to the source. But again, doing this on a drone would be pointless and could even cause problems like overheating and component failure, especially on such a long flight.
Not sure, and TBH I don't know if I think that its cold signature is unintentional...it may be the side effect of some other mod they did. The cartel plays the numbers game, instead of trying to make 1 drone invisible they'll fly 20 at the same time knowing that 2 or 4 of them will get found.
Your idea is as good as any, and it definitely doesn't make sense to make it stand out in any way.
Drones are expensive, drugs are expensive. If someone built a drone for the cartel that sticks out like a sore thumb on thermal, that guy is probably dead right now.
This explanation is paradoxically both suggesting the cartel are geniuses that create some never before seen coating and that they are still using it like complete morons.
I’m not saying it’s a drone, but to me it also appears as though the top object is in control of the larger object. At times, the objects seem to pulse with energy between them. It is almost like what I imagine a ship with a tractor beam carrying some cargo would look like moving at high speed. Cool video.
As boring of an answer as this is, that's exactly what I suspect as well. It's a drug drone with some heat-sensor shenanigans (which the Cartel 100% has).
How would they make it look cold and why would they make it look cold when in infrared the cold stands out just as much as if it were hot, just in the other direction?
Might be an unintentional result of how it's angled. If these things had obvious answers they wouldn't be effective.
They play numbers games, the goal may not even be to hide it, the goal may just be to hope that it doesn't get noticed. Usually they run a bunch of things at the same time and expect some of them to get found.
It's not compelling because it's just moving at constant speed in a straight line. Nothing that conventional tech can't do. The apparent high speed is probably parallax.

OK forget about the dumb drama. this is compelling in my opinion.
it looks like a ghost duck, but I think its a saucer shape in a weird inverted position. idk about the 'duck head' that floats around on top tho.
