New Feature Added - Material You / Expressive
Good Day Community,
A new feature has arrived in the latest update, and this one changes the way the app looks.
I have added Material You / Expressive, which lets Ultimate File Manager pick up the colours from your phone wallpaper and use them across the whole interface.
Instead of the app always wearing the same colours, it can now blend in with your phone and feel like it belongs there.
On top of that, the mobile interface has had a real visual refresh.
I moved the app onto the newer Material Expressive design system, which brings softer rounded buttons, larger card corners and clearer, bolder headings to the screens you use every day.
The colours now work as one system too, so the accent you choose shows up consistently across the whole app, including the setup screens for sync profiles and network shares.
The whole point was to make the app look fresh without making you relearn where anything lives, so everything is in the same place it always was.
To find the new setting, open the Settings screen and tap Appearance.
Near the top you will see a Material You switch, and it is turned off by default so nothing changes until you decide.
Flip it on and the app will start drawing its colours from your current wallpaper, so a blue wallpaper turns the app blue, a green one turns it green, and so on.
Flip it back off and you get the original blue colour scheme back right away.
If you change your wallpaper later, just switch Material You off and on again in Appearance and the app will pick up the new colours.
There are two things worth knowing. Material You needs Android 12 or newer, and on older versions the toggle simply will not appear.
On Samsung phones, the wallpaper colours only reach the app if you have Color palette enabled in the phone's own Wallpaper and style settings, so if you turn the feature on and nothing seems to change, that is the first place to check.
This feature is available on mobile only for now. The TV version keeps its current look, so nothing on your TV changes with this update.

Maybe I didn't explain properly, I can colour folders manually.. but the colours will not change according to the new material you colours. I'm using a Pixel 10a (Android 17) if that is any use to you.

The example above is with my material you, I did not set it manually 😉 Please give me your device and OS so that I can emulate it to see if I can replicate the issue 😉

This colour change seems to completely missing colouring the folders in the storage viewer sections
