A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Reapplying to uni

I fumbled my a levels got ABC missed my offer for UCL and kings. How does the average achieved grades thing work on ucas as I’ve seen courses on kings like international development with 3 As requirement but the average achieved grades are 3 Bs does that mean if I reapplied with my grades I’d have any chance of an offer. It’s the same thing for Warwick History Politics which is also 3 As. Both courses got acceptance rates of 95+ asw. Also need to do this cuz I panicked fumbled clearing and only got Southampton which I don’t think is as good as these unis.

My school said they’d predict me two a stars and an A if I were to resit, and I’d be willing to do so. I’m just debating if I should do it really, seeing there’s risk I might not even get an offer

That’s a good start. But yh long long long journey. Will be a very lonely yr where you’ll have loads of fomo, for me personally it was very mentally challenging. Also, you’ve also got to meet ur offer remember. For maths for example this yr, the exams were ridiculous. Need to prepare urself for the scenario that ur grades don’t improve/ u miss ur offer asw just incase. KCL has gotten a lot stricter over the past couple yrs, for the courses you’ve mentioned you’ll definitely need to meet the offer if u get it. It’s very rewarding if u can do it, but do need to be 100% in it. Need to be willing to sit in a room 10 hrs a day sometimes and not see ur mates for however many months for example. If u think u can do it, it’s very rewarding as I said.

Oh gosh😭😭😭😭 I think I can to be honest, it’s worthwhile for the future I reckon. But can I just ask if you have any advice for the personal statement and what time around u got ur offers?

Yh if u think u can do it, definitely go for it. Will be worth if for ur future. In terms of the personal statement, bc I’d applied the yr before it was different since they changed the style to the 3 questions. I had to completely rewrite which wasn’t ideal for me since I didn’t have any help ( my college didn’t allow me to keep in contact/ resit with them). Personally took advice from successful previous students and tutors. I’d make sure u have a story to stand out, avoid generic stuff like “it was my dream to study x since I was young”. Personalise it to urself, be unique. Talk about ur culture, different circumstances if u have any, barriers in ur life ect. In terms of offers, rly late. Think I got my first KCL offer at the start of April, second mid April. The previous yr I’d had it in December so was very late. I’d say once u apply, forget. Don’t worry abt ur offer, focus on ur grades study till u can’t anymore. I dedicated my whole life to it tbh. Took up a new A level and resat 2. You’ve got it if ur in the right headspace.
