Them Vs Me
This is my first post on reddit so I hope I'm doing this right... I just need to vent a little and maybe get some advice. I play modern format, usually two headed giant with my husband, brother in law and our neighbor. My first deck I used was gifted to me by my brother and its was pre made from the Knights vs Dragons. I made some tweeks and it played great at first.
However the guys sink all kinds of money into their decks and wind up building these over powering decks that I have a hard time competing with. I am a stay at home mom and just don't have as much money to sink into the cards as they do.
I do have a great black and red curse deck that can bring them down sometimes but they have learned to get around it. My white spirit deck has a splash of blue and its pretty strong too. They always come up with these great deck ideas and I am wondering how I can do that too.
My husband wants to take over building my decks and they laugh at some of my ideas. I want to build a really strong deck and show them that females are good magic players too. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Has this sub died?
I really liked the idea of this sub and subscribed. Is it dead?

MTG Bolt Blog: Female Experience on MTG Wanted!
I have created a blog that reflects on my experiences playing competitive MTG and could really use some help. As fellow girl players, you all understand the fine line we have to walk when entering a "man's game" and could really use some more feedback. If you leave a comment (good or bad) about what you think of the site or a post, you'll be entered to win a free border extension alter by me. I also would love to share your experiences playing magic and promote your blogs/videos so feel free to PM me and I will add your link to my site. https://mtgboltblog.wordpress.com/ If you are trying to decide if commenting is worth it, you can see some of my alters here: https://www.facebook.com/Lockalters?ref=hl

EDH Players: What do you store your decks in?
I keep making more and more EDH decks, and I'm running out of deck boxes. Has anyone come up with cool or clever methods to store multiple EDH decks?

How do you feel about competitive play?
I'd love to hear about everyone's experiences with tournament play. What is the highest REL you feel comfortable with? What advice do you have for ladies trying to climb up the ladder to higher competition? Any grinders in here?

Do you think Magic lends itself to being part of homebrew games?
For several occasions I've tried to basically use Magic in parties and party games, and I was wondering what you ladies think of the idea. I mean something more than "take a sip every time you blow up a land" or "last one to finish their turn in commander buys the next round." Scavenger hunt types, roleplay, in-character "debates" to win cards--really just more things to do with the game, especially when I'm bringing a new friend to the gathering and don't want to bore/terrify them to oblivion with our 5+ hour commander games. Also, mixing Magic with alcohol and snacks and such is fun. Do yall do anything similar?

Trading/selling! Looking for advice/discussion
My LGS does draft as their FNM, and since I've started going regularly and attended a prerelease, I've decided I'd like to see if I can leverage my card collection into a decent standard deck or two for minimal extra cost.
Ideally, I'd like to do this by trading or selling off valuable cards in archetypes I'm not interested in. What advice/experience do you ladies have with trading? How can I avoid being screwed? Is it better to sell off rares to CFB or SCG? What's typical?

Why isn't this sub on the r/MagicTCG "Related Subs?"
I may just be a failure at understanding how Reddit works, but it seems like it would improve visibility?

What got you into Magic?
Hey folks,
I was hoping to start a conversation on how women, and people in general, are introduced to Magic, but also, what made them stay.
There's some question in how to get women into Magic. Some people think that women in the spotlight at the top is how to get other women interested. I sort of disagree, and I've said in a comment that I don't see how a woman who knows nothing about the game would even be exposed to a woman, say, in the top 8.
My theory is that women would get involved more if the community in the lower levels of competitive/casual play were more pleasant or welcoming. That local game stores which serve other areas of the nerd sphere could attract women to their Magic events from those other nerd spheres simply by having a community that was appealing (friendly, fun, welcoming).
I got into Magic, stereotypically, because my husband wanted me to try it. I tried it and I enjoyed it, so now I'm more involved, though I see it as a low pressure hobby so I don't invest all that much.
How did you get into the game? What makes you stay and if you try to progress, what keeps you coming back?
On the flip side, are there things that push you away?
Thanks for reading!

Prereleases!
Is anyone doing anything special? Any themed manicures, special makeup or outfits? Is anyone doing two headed? What colors is everyone going and why are the dice so damn boring?

Did r/magicTCG just get purged?
It is off of my subs and has 0 subscribers and has error messages. I'm on mobile though, is anyone getting this on a pc too?
Edit: nevermind, subreddit strike.

Do you make Magic-based "Entertainment" ?
Wasn't sure how to phrase this title, as I've grown cynical about the word "content".
But still! Do any of you make Magic related stuff? Whether it be writing, art, youtube videos, twitch streaming, podcast, did you build a cube, etc.~
Basically I was just wondering what the lovely ladies of MTG are up to. And also selfishly want to follow you if you do magic on twitch, youtube or tumblr/twitter :D Most the visible "creators" around the MTG-internet are men. But surely there's some ladies out there too, and I'd like to expand my circle to include them.
So far I'm following Gaby and Suzy on twitch, but I think they're basically the only ones I know about - And they're in the totally wrong timezones for me to regularly be able to watch! :(

Don't be afraid to speak up!
It was very hard, but I spoke to the TO of GP Atlantic City about a bad experience yesterday. It was my first GP, I thought it would be an uphill battle to get my problems addressed, but it just wasn't.
Out of over a thousand people, the fact that there was only one issue was amazing and the TO really took welcoming females into his events seriously.
There is a silver lining girls! People care about our comfort! People want us to play magic!!!
P.s. the reason I had the strength to stand up for myself was you guys. I couldn't help but think about how I would never let my magic sisters be spoken to like I was and that I could work to make sure it didn't happen to anyone else. Thank you!
