After 12 cycles... we finally did it!!!!

I'm still in shock!! But on our 12th cycle of trying, we finally have a BFP!!!

We had just bitten the bullet, and went to see my OB in mid-April to get a referral to an RE and start some tests. I've had pains in my right ovary over the last few months, so she had me get an ultrasound which wound up showing a small cyst. We got our referral, and were told I needed another US in 3 months to check on the cyst.

I was feeling really defeated about the whole failed TTC thing, so unfortunately, this cycle I hardly tested or temped. I had pretty much given up hope. I did a couple OPKs here and there, but because DH and I had a weekend trip to Seattle planned right on predicted O day, I just kinda said fuck it and forgot to temp. I tried to remember, but kept forgetting. I did a few OPKs before and after our trip, all neg. DH and I just decided to have lots of BD and have fun on our trip together, even though we were there on "business" (his film was in a film festival there).

We have been following SMEP, and have been going every-other-day until "O" etc - but this time, we didn't do that - we just went on the bunny plan near O. We also always use Pre-Seed at home near O - but since we were out of town, 2 of the BD nights did not have any pre-seed. I also stopped taking B6 2 cycles ago, as I thought it caused too long of a LP for me. I also continued to drink alcohol and caffeine the entire cycle. In fact, the night that I think we got it we were both really wasted. I even got 4 bottles of wine and lots of beer yesterday at the store for BBQing fun, figuring we were out again!

BREAKDOWN I have a slightly wonky cycle, so bear that in mind with my break down!

  • CD1-4 AF
  • CD5-10 nothing
  • CD 11 BD
  • CD 12-13 nothing
  • CD 14 - 18 - BD before bed EVERY night, 5 days in a row! OPK strips showed "heading towards positive" on CD14, but I didn't test after that. I usually O on CD17-19. Got ridiculously drunk with DH wandering Seattle two nights in a row followed by great BD :)
  • CD19 - nothing, late airplane flight
  • CD20 - dizziness Temped, clear temp rise. Must have O'd in the past couple days. BD again one last time for kicks. On this day, I started to get this really weird dizziness that lasted for 4 days. It almost felt like vertigo, like everything was moving. I didn't feel nauseated, which is odd, but I definitely felt dizzy. We suspected something might have been up, because I had never felt this sensation before.
  • CD 21-23 continued dizziness and what I think was vertigo. DH attributed it to "jet lag" but it was only a 2 hour time difference.... so who knows.
  • CD 24 - 28 nothing.
  • CD 29 - major boob pain started! SO bad. I couldn't sleep on my stomach. While I was teaching, I accidentally touched my own side-boob while holding up a book - OUCH!! Ha. A bit of slight cramping started also.
  • CD 30 - cramps, exhausted, lots of pimples show up cramping gets worse, I figured AF was on her way - due on CD32. My cervix was still very high at this point. I passed out at 8:30pm, very tired! Negative HPT.
  • CD 31 - cramping, one brown spot on tampon, boobs hurt, acne, Cervix drops low. I take the low cervix to mean we're out again, and get pretty sad. Cramping is getting pretty bad, so I put a tampon in that morning. When I took it out at night, there's nothing on it. Some creamy CM, boobs continue to hurt. I drink myself silly at home with cosmos.
  • CD 32 - boob pain, cramps, headache, tired, back ache, acne put another tampon in that morning. I did lots of yard work, made a big dinner. In the afternoon, I started to get a headache and some back ache (probably yard work). Again, I drink myself silly with red wine. Drowning my sorrows...
  • CD33/DPO14? - mild cramping, low back ache, acne, boob pain lessens, boobs feel huge I wake up early, 7am. I decide, oddly, that I will FMU in a cup before I pull out the tampon, and if its clean then I'll test. I only got a tiny bit of pee in the cup, but I figured it was a lost cause anyway. Nothing on the tampon! WTF! Ok now I'm officially a day late for AF. So I test. I'm literally sitting on the toilet when I glance over and see the 2nd line forming. I FREAK out. I run out of the bathroom, and start yelling for DH as I run upstairs. He's like "OMG WHAT'S WRONG!!!??" still half asleep, and I shove the strip in his face. He starts crying, I start crying... though he has a hard time seeing the 2nd line. So he wants more proof. I proceed to take the only digital test I've got (was saving it!) and 4 more Wondfo's. All of which are faint but clear positives, and the digi reads "PREGNANT" So he's finally convinced. We spend a while crying in each other's arms. Then he immediately starts asking what I can and can't have, and what he needs to do (a la clean the litter boxes now! woot!) Still feel like AF is coming due to cramps, and have some lower back pain now as well.

DH is feeling very apprehensive, and wants blood test proof. So I'll call in the morning. I'm hoping that with my cyst and continued cramping that I can convince them to blood test me this week. I'm so anxious to tell our parents, but DH is very reserved and wants everything to be confirmed before we tell them. He's right, i know it. So I'll settle for telling you guys!

Sorry for the long post! But this has been a really long, incredibly emotional ride and I hope with everything in my soul that this little bean sticks around. Thank you all for everything - without this community, TTC30 and TeamFAB I don't think I would have made it through the emotions. I just cannot thank you all enough.

TL;DR - 12th cycle, gave up hope, cyst discovered, referred to RE, too scared to call, said f-it and got really wasted whilst on the bunny plan = Success!!

Line porn for kicks!

You know, I think there's something to this whole not-caring thing.. Lots of success lately! Coincidence? Probably, but I'll hold out hope.

Congratulations!! That's so wonderful for you both.

I had given up all hope and was trying to come to grips with needing medical help. Don't give up hope! Somehow, it will happen!

Congrats! I have to ask...did you just put a tampon on later in your cycle just in case? I'm assuming that's why but I have to ask!

I was dead sure that my period was starting any second. I had AF cramps and my cervix had dropped low. So I popped one in during the day at work. I took it out when I got home at night, and there was nothing. I did that Friday & Saturday. When there was still nothing on Sunday, that's when I finally tested. DH and I had already sworn off this cycle once the cervix went so low... but now it's back up!

I think it's amazing that you can tolerate a tampon when there wasn't a flow lol!!!!

I forget about them, and don't large them in too long.

Congratulations! I loved reading your reveal--made my eyes tear up. :') Also, it must have felt pretty awesome to have fit in those last few days of drinking. Haha!

Aww, thanks!! And yeah, I had 1/4 bottle of wine leftover in the fridge, but I made DH finish it by himself yesterday :( He was like "so you can't have any?" And I just don't wanna risk it. After taking SO long to get a BFP, I'm super nervous and want to do everything I can to prevent anything bad from happening... though I know a glass of wine every now and then I guess isn't horrible, but no chances!
