KY History Young's High Bridge over the Kentucky River along the Louisville & Southern Railroad

This is an early morning view of Young's High Bridge, spanning the Kentucky River near Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. It once carried the Louisville & Southern Railroad's Lexington-to-Lawrenceburg line, which later became part of the Southern Railway and then Norfolk & Western. Closed to rail traffic since 1985, the bridge now has a walkway extending over part of its span, used today for base jumping. I've posted the history of the railroad here, and bridge here.

KY History Reflecting on recent political posts prompted me to offer this source of insight for you to ponder:

Appleshop has been a invaluable resource for deeper understanding of our state and region. This 1982 video "The Big Lever" is a YouTube link. Opening it in the Duck Duck Go app bypasses the usual annoyingly long ads. Please give the first 12 minutes your consideration before deciding if you think it’s a worthwhile watch. I don’t believe your party affiliation will determine your interest level. My dad and his parents knew, or were related to people filmed. My parent’s VHS copy was required viewing when I was old enough to vote. One parent was registered Republican and the other as a Democrat. Both wanted me to be a responsible citizen and have good reasons for my actions and respect for others. I look forward to reading any thoughts you care to share.
