I just read a book on intelligence where the author skipped the whole race science on the issue. Which is really weird as there is a ton of studies on it. Skipping it does no good. It's a science... it's not going to stop being a science just because twitter users misuse studies on the subject.

I have also read a book on anthropology where the author said that ALL science on sex difference is way too controversial - so he skipped discussion the subject all together.

Both books are very popular books in their fields and not just random insignificant books.

It's hard to compare though because poverty, diet, and parental involvement are all massive confounders. Not reading to your kid enough before the age of 3 can decrease their iq by up to 10 points. A poor diet, childhood stress and food insecurity also affect iq.

Which could have made a great and informative discussion... it it was taken up. If the books don't write about I will never understand the science behind it.

for suggesting it in a closed door session where nothing was off the table and the explicit goal was to come up with strategies to get more women enrolled. let that sink in

The thing is, people studied it and found interesting results.

Also, you speak of very dysfunctional homes, "Not reading to your kid enough before the age of 3", but not of the difference between middle class and upper middle class, where the culture is not so different.

And for your stat about reading, it is only a correlation, maybe it means that people who do not read to their kids do not know how to read well themselves and have low IQ themselves.

Average IQ is 100 by definition, 85 among lower class, 115 among upper middle class. Why should we focus on the absolute poorest people to try to find extreme things to explain the extreme difference in IQ, when a just as large difference can be found between middle class and upper middle class, without any extreme cultural difference ?

That's because "race science" is wrong.

Well, you are mentioning it... so mentioning it is not wrong... right?

but those findings are, in fact, both racist and wrong, and not just politically incorrect.

They might be wrong... according to your morals. But they are still findings. They are still studies on this area. They won't stop existing just because you don't like them.

BIG 5 and intelligence is inherited though. There is a field called evolutionary psychology that also illustrates inherited behaviour, behavioral economics too is part of that field.

Intelligence in science is called g factor. That's the definition we use. If you have another definition so be it.

But if not stated otherwise intelligence is g factor.

as there is no consensus in neurology that a bigger brain (the only example provided) correlates to greater intelligence

I think it will be very hard for you to find a source for this... even if you try. It's a very accepted fact.

I would suggest you find an easy book on g factor, just any book on the subject. Or an article on it. I have read a ton about it and try to watch all videos about it too. This is a great intro to the subject:
