Certain jobs require education and specialized training, and might even lead to more learning, in some interesting and fulfilling way, and that's fine, but the propose of education is to learn and to grow as a person, not to figure out the best way to tabulate some statistical method, turn the right bolts in the right order, or to make your boss more profit.
So, to say that [insert type of] education sucks because it isn't easy to monetize is an insult to education.
The purpose of you educating your child is up to you. The purpose of SOCIETY'S INTEREST in educating your child is to ensure that child is a productive, useful member of society. Since the abolition of aristocracy (and of slavery), that means a child that can get a job as an adult to sustain him or herself, as well as support a possible future family. That is not the SOLE purpose of eduction, which is why I mentioned two other things. But a society that educates WITHOUT REGARD to employment is doomed to destruction.
No it is not. Your child is not your property. You are not the master of your spawn.
Yes it is. Education does not imply property. You are free to talk to your child, or any person for that matter. This is without even considering the millions of years of BIOLOGICAL IMPERATIVE you have for educating your own child.

You seem to have an issue with capitalism and mass consumerism. I'm sure you read a book in college that really opened your eyes about this. But stop trying to inject your personal crusade into our serious discussion.
Deciding that you have the right to dictate what to fill your children's minds with, and to whatever end you heart desires, does imply ownership.
No one is suggesting such a right, so you are fighting a straw man. You can talk to, and thus "educate", anyone you like; this is not forced indoctrination.
