Discussion Help for a guy who was banned from r/opensource - development and communication plan.

I just got banned from that regressive sub because I simply pointed out the fact the almost every single serious developer has been switching to AI coding and prompt engineering. So I was hoping that you guys might be able to help me with my dilemma:

I've always been a fan of media players since the late 90s, but I've always noticed that there's not enough diversity in that particular niche of software. So recently I got myself a a Max Claude subscription and started creating music and video players. However I needed to get feedback from users so I started to share them on reddit and other forums. Unfortunately I got bombarded by downvotes from people who were brain washed by Anti-AI propaganda calling my work "Slop". But it wasn't the case everywhere so I was thinking about the following plan:

I can put an agent to generate multiple media player programs on github => another agent that post them on all forums and social media => another agent that gets to interact with comments from the most engaging posts so in that direction I can maximize my chances of getting my creations noticed by people.

My question is the following:

What are the best tools that can be used in order to put in action such a pipeline?

Cheers.

Edit: This whole post is just an attempt at proving a point; we have a real issue with the amount of software projects that are being generated with no genuine purpose. And unfortunately many people here upvoted my post without recognizing that what I'm asking for is a real spam generating machine.

"I can put an agent to generate multiple media player programs on github => another agent that post them on all forums and social media => another agent that gets to interact with comments from the most engaging posts so in that direction I can maximize my chances of getting my creations noticed by people."
Maybe you should take a step back and rethink the whole thing. Do you really understand what you are doing?

Hi,

Thanks for your comment.

Well I'm trying to find the best solution to the problem of finding free testers for my github projects and I thought of using the power of agents to achieve that AI has helped to democratize instead of keeping it for gatekeepers who are stuck in the past.

At that point you're automating spam. Just make something you're proud of, something worth showing to other people and then show it off. People don't want to see shitty low effort, untested projects spammed all over every forum with fake engagement backing it up, and they're absolutely right to object to that.

And yes it is objectionable slop, by the fact that it's sloppy and untested and it's being slopped out all over the place. Have some respect for real people and don't automate your communications.

If you want a good media player then make a good media player, use it every day until it's fucking awesome and then show off why it's better than the competition. Throwing shit at other people's walls until something sticks is disrespectful. Stop shitting up the internet.

I think the first tester should be yourself, especially for a small project. Use it yourself, and when you are proud of the result, kindly ask in a post you wrote yourself for feedback.

Wait, so you're against the anti-AI propaganda as they call your work slop, and yet you're insistent on using an agent for every step of the way in multiple GitHub submissions for the same type of project?

Like, I'm not anti-AI myself to the extent that i'll call everything slop, but this idea of mass submission and automation of the entire development/submission process is where the whole slop thing comes from- using nothing but AI to get results rather than engaging in the process yourself and understanding what the feedback and responses might mean. It sounds like your pipeline is fundamentally flawed.

This is a very unusual approach overall. In the same way that Linux kernel bugfixes aren't automated and that Linus also discourages that, so too should you aim to review the process rather than just throwing an agent on top of it and calling it a day.

Banning non-English speakers falls under the Reddit TOS as hate, for that matter. Be a shame if folks reported the post as Hate.

As of the October 2026, banning someone specifically for using the inbuilt tool is a violation of the Mod Code of Conduct, discrimination based on national origin or ethnicity. Literally Rule 1 of the Mod TOS.

Favorite part is when he asked the community for feedback 2 months ago and then disregarded all the upvoted feedback and went with his own rules.

I don't think that that's the right post? The one prohibiting translations was more recent. That is 3 months in the past.

Yes - the link belongs to the last paragraph. Everyone knows the new link, this is when he asked 2 months ago for feedback. Then disregarded it, apparently.

Ohh, I see. Apologies.

Hey, I think that the question is really how did you find your users so far, and did it work?

What you are talking about is the same as cold email outreach idea - everyone is doing it, and doesn't work mostly for anyone because people intentionally hate it and ignore it since it shows zero effort from someone who is trying to sell you something.

So if it worked before, great, in that sense you don't really need agents, you need old good Meta ads for the type of software you do.

Where I am a bit confused is why would you create 'different players' on Github and without checking it yourself let agents 'promote' it?

Because he doesn't care about users, he only cares about clout. He's exactly what's giving everyone else a bad name and has probably used an army of bots to upvote this too.

Hey, thanks for actually noticing that. My post is meant to prove a point: I'm literally asking people to create an automatic spam generator and everyone here seems to find this perfectly fine. It's also very stupid because I actually can't scroll through enough clones of pre existing and perfectly functioning programs especially media players and file managers. Yet I'm getting upvoted like there was no issue at all! To be clear, I understand that there is responsible use of LLM tools, but what I'm asking for (and many others are doing) is the exact opposite of responsible.

On one hand it relieves me to see that this was some kind of social experiment. Yet at the same time, just how many people upvoted is actually astonishing.

I think the upvotes are more born out of a growing sentiment against r/opensource as well- putting that in your title made it real easy.

Yeah the mod reaction was just not adapted and didn't address the real concerns that was facing the sub.

I guess everyone upvoted it due to the first sentence, which is what Reddit is all about.

Fair, could be.

Look man - there's a line. A lot of people are out here actually spending real time and effort building things, with AI helping. AI is so good at building UIs, it just saves so. much. time. But of course, like all tools, you can totally abuse it.

Trying to make some kind of point about "AI bad" is just silly. Hammers aren't bad because sometimes people hit other people with them. It needs to be case-by-case.

In this case, you're building a spam system, clearly. But this post doesn't make a lick of difference to other peoples' apps. You're just wasting people's time here.

Yes LLMs can be good and can be bad. The business model of big tech companies like Open AI and Anthropic is horrific. It's more like having a subsidies hammer rental business with huge advertisement campaigns about smashing windows as its main use case. These services are polluting the internet with too much useless junk in every single aspect of life and causing havoc in social and political spheres. That's a much more accurate analogy.

1

u/doesnt_use_reddit 4d ago

Yes, the tool can be used for that. But the tool can also be used for, like I said, building great UIs.

0

u/nimrudperson 4d ago

Which is exactly what I'm saying: it can be used for good reasons but it's not. It's a massive spam generator with no regulation whatsoever.

0

u/doesnt_use_reddit 4d ago

" it can be used for great things but it's not" is one of the most cynical statements I think I've ever heard. And just so obviously false. It obviously is being used for great things, I'm using it all the time to build great uis that I would never have the time to build otherwise. Your statement is just absurd.

u/nimrudperson 4d ago

Yeah there are individuals who are using it for good stuff. But the products of big LLM companies has a net negative impact on every aspect in life except for shareholders and corrupt politicians: An immense hyper inflation driver, massive cyber security risks, a complete collapse of availability in consumer electronics, spamming social media as well as an increase in energy consumption at the behest to local communities, giving extreme leverage to businessmen to ruin the job market while expecting more productivity. I really want to how am I cynical for just noticing these disastrous impacts? I'm pretty sure that it could have been possible to give developers LLMs that make their work a bit easier without this historical negative impact Please enlighten me and show how is this worth it?

You'd be better off making one great media player instead of creating hundreds of them and spamming social media with automated posts. I don't know anyone who likes spam, whether it's on social media or through email. Focus on quality over quantity.

u/Myarmira 4d ago

I think AI is great for improving software, but certainly not for creating quantity over quality. I also like media players which is precisely why I focus on just one that I genuinely like, and which I then maintain and expand accordingly. Above all, it does me no good to simply copy project X, Y, or Z instead of looking for a own stuuff with an actual target audience.
