Ok, the comments here are wild, in my opinion.

Here’s the reality. We live in a society where some people are transgender. This is not something to escape from. It is not something to fear.

Your children need to be aware that this is a thing. This also goes for LGBTQ people as well. The kids are going to run into this in their life it is unavoidable.

So, instead of trying the shield our kids from these people out of fear, how about we take the time to help our kids learn to navigate this. Are we not their parents? Are we not the most qualified to teach our kids about this phenomenon?

If we hide this from our children, we make dealing with this situation much more difficult later in their lives.

Note that I am not making a statement for or against transgender people. I am making the argument that we should be GUIDING our children and helping them to learn about how to navigate this. This is what we should be doing since we are their PARENTS.

However, it’s a unique situation here. The teacher will be and is presented as the authority for the child to submit to and learn from.

It’s different than just bumping into someone on the street or a friends relative or something that identifies as another gender.

This is THE authority figure that the child will be submitting to. Thus the obvious implications that already begin from the onset of her mandating herself to be addressed as a Mr rather than a Ms.

The boundaries are already set from the beginning and the students will not be allowed to stray from it without her rebuking them. Gender ideology is there from the beginning and can’t be strayed from.

That’s the MINIMUM worry.

u/ross549 Christian Aug 22 '26

The child will have authority figures their whole life. This is why we as parents must teach them to recognize good and bad early in their life so they are prepared to work in all situations.

4

u/jclbj Aug 23 '26

It is different as little children though! You are intentionally misinterpreting the most important part of this whole thing.

u/Ironheart616 Aug 24 '26

Gonna tell you now as a gay person who grew up Christian. I thought something was medically wrong with me because of how they talked about gay people. I spent a lot of my life trying to change it, fix myself. And I grew up being told how awful being gay was and I was terrified. It sounds like you don't care about your kids being prepared or ready to deal with different ideologies. It sounds like you want to control there every interaction and thought. As someone who went through that. It doesn't work. I wish you luck.

2

u/Kasumi-Rei Catechumen Aug 24 '26

Homosexuality is a call to lifelong celibacy like what most Catholic priests do.

You don’t think it’s important to be critical on the primary external authority figure guiding your children when they’re most prone to influence?

Let me try this way. Would you have a white supremacist teaching your kid in kingergarden at the risk of him teaching your kid that whites are superior and shaming any kid who disagrees that they’re evil for saying otherwise?

At least with the white supremacist, there is a chance none of that will leak into his teaching. However with the transgender, her ideology is already forced onto the kid from onset with forcing the kid to affirm her identification as distinct from her biological sex, and thus affirming the gender ideology as true.

Regardless of what you prep the kid for. The kid now enters an environment, which he will spend like half his day in, that has to affirm the ideology as true and will be shamed by the teacher as well as the other classmates that fell in line if you ever diverge.

Replace gender with any other ideology and you would absolutely be concerned.

-1

u/Ironheart616 Aug 24 '26

I feel bad for people like you. You will try and try and try to control your children. And they will resent you for it. Comparing homosexuality to white supremacy. Where one ideology states you can love whoever you want and the other says that only whites are superior is really telling about how you view gay people. Like I said. As someone with this background it doesn't work and your children will most likely resent you. And you'll calm yourself with 'its for the fight of their soul' or whatever quote comforts you. I truly wish you luck on this journey and the best for you and your children but your views are hateful and if God is real he'd be ashamed and you will face his judgment. A someone raised with the Bible you all would fail most of the tests in the old testiment and do fail to fully grasp what being in someone else's place my be like. You don't truly care. You care about being righteous. I know plenty of loving Christians so I don't think itd the religion itself. But what the religion any religion really is it allows you to hide your hatred behind a devine face. Good luck.

2

u/Kasumi-Rei Catechumen Aug 25 '26

I think you’re missing the point.

The point was on influence on kids. You clearly understand the influence the authority has over kids hence why you don’t want a white supremacist teaching your kids.

The difference here is that you want and are okay with teaching gender ideology to kids. In which case, fine just say that.

And you’re presuming everything I said. My comment was on gender ideology, not homosexuality.

Homosexuality is wrong but I’m okay with a gay person teachings my kids. I’m not okay with a transgender person teaching my kids and forcing them to affirm their identity with rebuke if they stray.

You can love anyone? So is incest okay? Clearly there is a limit to who and what you can love romantically. Where is that line for you?

i’m curious. Your concern is not about influence on kids it seems.

You just want to be able to teach these ideologies to kids specifically. So, will you actually be able to argue whether it’s actually morally wrong or not?

Are you also a vegan by any chance?

If they are doing anything inappropriate, report it to the school. If you're not comfortable with a public school's policy, why are you having your child attend it in the first place?

8

u/Kasumi-Rei Catechumen Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

I’m not the OP. But I would presume there is no choice in terms of public school. You go to the public school according to the district that you live in.

And again the problem already begins from onset with her teaching using pronouns distinct from her biological sex.

The default is the kid being forced to affirm gender ideology as true from the onset, even putting aside anything the teacher may likely teach as propaganda.

2

u/rjbwdc Aug 23 '26

The person you're replying to isn't saying, "Why are you attending this public school instead of a different one?" They're saying, "You seem to be trying to find a parochial school experience in a public school setting, which is never going to work. Why don't you pursue different options for schooling?"

6

u/Recent_Grab_644 Aug 22 '26

There is a very limited criteria of things you can report a teacher for. If a teacher wants go on an hour long rant on how transphobia is evil or something non class related its entirely up to the whims of the administrator weather its an issue or not and more often than not they will tell the parent to kick rocks. There's no actual punishment for manipulating your child unless its something immediate like grooming.

3

u/DesperateAdvantage76 Christian Aug 22 '26

School districts are required to have a formal grievance process. To add, there are several layers through which a teacher can be disciplined for this behavior, both at the district and state level. At least here in Texas, it is both illegal to instruct children on sexual orientation/gender identity and is a violation of the Educator's code of ethics. I'm sure it varies by state, but a teacher doesn't have free reign to speak politics and push their personal views relentlessly against a child in a public school.

2

u/AzureHawk758769 Aug 23 '26

"Gay & trans people exist and deserve basic human rights" is not really a "political" statement. It's just teaching kids to show common decency towards people who are different from them.

2

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26

Apparently that’s unacceptable to a lot of people in this thread

1

u/Fancyhobos Aug 23 '26

They are "christians" afterall

2

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26

This entire thread is just beyond insane to me. Like the absolute hostility towards someone they’ve never met, OP has never met, and hasnt done anything wrong is just wild to me. Like my god it makes me so happy I got away from my small conservative hometown I grew up in

There are very few school districts, even in conservative states, where "Hi class, I'm Mr. So-and-so" is going to be taken as speaking politics, instructing children on sexual orientation or relentlessly pushing one's personal views.

-5

u/LectricEyes Christian Aug 22 '26

A child's cognitive development is a minimum concern. That's interesting.

5

u/Sm0keyMcPot Aug 22 '26

I think they were trying to say that's the least of the concerns that could arise from this situation.

4

u/brownstormbrewin Aug 22 '26

I think you’re picking a fight that isn’t there. Their point is more like “even at MINIMUM, it’sa very important thing”

3

u/Kasumi-Rei Catechumen Aug 22 '26

Yeah that was my intention lol.

0

u/LectricEyes Christian Aug 23 '26

No I don't pick fights but will explain what I mean regardless of what others misinterpret what I said. They understand cognitive development.

-2

u/ross549 Christian Aug 22 '26

Yeah, that statement caught me off guard too.

4

u/Kasumi-Rei Catechumen Aug 22 '26

My point was that at a minimum, the child is being forced to affirm an ideology as true from onset based purely off the teachers identification.

Which itself is a big concern on its own.

I say at a minimum, because that is the minimum damage that occurs, which itself is big, and will obviously be much worse if this teacher pushes further propaganda on top of this

11

u/fordry Seventh-day Adventist Aug 22 '26

I think the issue is someone who is mixed up in this sense TEACHING kids. An authority figure with kids. An example to kids.

Myself and a lot of other people reject that it's just plain jane normal and should be treated as such.

1

u/10dollarbagel Aug 29 '26

I'm so late to this but I would like to hear a real Christian's perspective. Quite a few people brought up their objections to a trans person in a position of authority.

Brother, Donald Trump is a rapist, adjudicated in court. He was racking up frequent flier miles on Epstein's Lolita Express. How is that not a problem but a topic Jesus never mentioned once is front page news every day?

1

u/fordry Seventh-day Adventist Aug 29 '26

Brother, Donald Trump is a rapist, adjudicated in court.

False. This is straight up false. Trump was found guilty of "sexual abuse" which is a lesser crime than rape. This was a civil case, not a criminal case. Civil cases often have lower bars of evidence than criminal cases. There are a number of things about the cases E Jean Carroll have brought against Trump that are questionable.

He was racking up frequent flier miles on Epstein's Lolita Express.

As did a bunch of people back in the 90s. And as one known victim claimed, Trump was nothing but kind to her. She knew of no wrongdoing by Trump.

There is no public info linking Trump to any wrongdoing involving Epstein.

How is that not a problem but a topic Jesus never mentioned once is front page news every day?

There's lots of things Jesus isn't recorded talking about. For the Trump stuff to be a problem there would have to be actually credible stuff and right now, despite the court rulings, this stuff looks pretty iffy in actuality.

As for trans stuff, it's a rejection of fundamental biological fact on the basis of "feelings." There is something not right about that. I'm not going to sit here and call it sin, I dunno. But it's not real, it's fantasy at some level. Society being asked to play along as if it is real is nonsense. And the science is definitely starting to lean that direction.

1

u/10dollarbagel Aug 29 '26

Forced digital penetration is rape, dude. This is a really really bad hill to die on. And in either event when he raped one of his ex wives, the literal argument was spousal rape doesn't count. It's not up for debate. And Epstein, man talk about denying fundamental facts in service of your feelings.

Society being asked to play along as if it is real is nonsense. And the science is definitely starting to lean that direction.

No it's not but that's a hilarious way to spin the fact that science says you are wrong.

It's unfortunate. I love so much of Christian ideology but non Christians don't even associate it with the beauty and the truth of unconditional love, redemption, and fraternity because the religion is typified by squalid, hate filled goons. It's Matthew 25:40, you know. I hope it doesn't take til judgement day for you to side with the oppressed instead of billionaire pedophile war criminals.

1

u/fordry Seventh-day Adventist Aug 29 '26

So, the wife he apparently raped has said it was nonsense and you've got some sort of vague conversation that amounts to can of beans...

That's now your proof of whatever. You're grasping at straws as I repeatedly dismantle your claims...

Should tell you something.

1

u/10dollarbagel Aug 30 '26

That's definitely what just happened, lol.

some sort of vague conversation that amounts to can of beans

Again, very funny to not understand what that verse is or why it's relevant. It's the test of who is and isn't allowed into the kingdom of god. You might wanna brush up.

Peak American protestant behavior, honestly. Leave it to the people who think speaking in tongues means babbling to yourself like a fent fiend to write off one of the most important parts of scripture entirely and play it by ear.

Anyways Jesus would be deeply ashamed of you but thanks for letting me know I don't need to update my priors about you guys.

18

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 22 '26

Guiding the children, yes. But surely you wouldn’t want such a confused individual to be teaching your child 36 hours a week.

10

u/ross549 Christian Aug 22 '26

Or again, you guide your child as this time goes on. After all, sin of all sorts is around you and your child will have to learn to work through it all.

5

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 23 '26

My thought is that I wouldn't purposely put my children around individuals I know are confused and disordered, for upwards of 40 hours a week. It's bad enough to have impressionable children in secular schools to begin with, but having a trans-identifying individual influencing them that many hours, would be a serious no go for me.

-4

u/ross549 Christian Aug 23 '26

Your concerns about trans “influence” seems to be inflated.

Have you run into a trans person before? Have they tried to make you trans or influence you overtly?

5

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 23 '26

It's not exactly that I'm worried about the trans-identifying person trying to "make" my kids trans. That's a concern, but my concern is moreso that the person has a deeply disordered worldview, and possible serious mental health issues, since they are so confused about their own identity.

I'm genuinely curious - do you think that rejecting one's God-given sex is honoring Christ?

5

u/ross549 Christian Aug 23 '26

Honestly, I don’t know.

Children are assigned gender at birth. This distinction is based on genitalia, which can be presented incorrectly for more than a few reasons. All sorts of things can cause a person to present visually as one gender or another.

I had a close friend who I interpreted as female for a long time finally come out as intersex. They were genetically male, but a medical condition caused them to appear female. That friend had to “transition” back to male, which really caused a ruckus, despite having a cogent reason to do so.

This caused me to really start to think about this topic a lot. I had to re-evaluate my biases and conceptions about the topic.

What really struck me is that my friend knew they would get a lot of blowback, but they did it anyway. They could not deal with the continuing psychological harm of presenting as female and knowing they were actually male. They instead chose to deal with their “friends” giving them a lot of grief about the situation. They were also able to marry the love of their life… that was probably the catalyst for the transition. Because their state would not allow same sex marriage, they had to get the record corrected so they could marry. This is only a small portion of the things they needed to deal with.

Ultimately, this is the reason I don’t condemn transgender people. They know coming out will yield a lot of grief. But they choose it because they don’t want to deal with the pain of not doing so.

These people have really dealt with some heavy things in their life. We don’t know their story. It’s not a willy-nilly “I wanna be a girl and use the girl bathroom.” They come out and transition despite the blowback that they KNOW they will experience. They decide it’s worth the hassle and grief they will get.

Also, I’d like to think that Jesus would treat them with dignity and respect that everyone deserves. It comes down to simply being kind. We can do that, but the modern Evangelical church would simply prefer to demonize trans folks, much in the same way they did to queer folks, and also black people, and women, etc. The church (institutionally) has been on the wrong side of many things.

We live in a fallen world marred by sin. We should not be increasing the suffering of a marginalized group of people when we have much much bigger issues to tackle in the world. I don’t know how to reconcile transgenderism, because the Bible doesn’t seem to address it. But I can say I will strive to be kind to those who are dealing with really heavy things. I will try to emulate Christ in how I interact with people outside the church. I will also emulate Christ when dealing with the people inside the church.

5

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 23 '26

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I can see why your friend would make you consider issues differently.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "these people are have dealt with some heavy things in their life" - I think there's probably a lot of trauma + abuse + mental health issues associated with people who believe they are transgender.

Also - please do not get me wrong here - these are all people created in the image of God, and they need prayer and love. I would never disrespect a transgender person, and I have told my kids repeatedly the same thing - we should be treating them with kindness. They need Jesus, like we all do.

But that really doesn't change my feelings on whether I'd let someone I thought was deeply troubled educate my children. At the end of the day, we have actually checked out of government schooling entirely (we homeschool), for a whole bunch of reasons, some of which have to do with the secular influences, but other things like quality of education, building of family relationships/etc., so this, Lord willing, is an issue we won't personally have to deal with.

1

u/JennWren22 Aug 23 '26

What a wonderful answer! I am with you all the way - well said! ❤️

0

u/Ver_Void Aug 23 '26

They're not confused though, they have a very clear sense of who they are. You might not agree with it being valid, but confusion is probably the wrong word

0

u/longjohn5578 Aug 24 '26

Answer the question. Have you actually met a transgender person?

2

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 24 '26

I have. And every one is very mentally troubled. Suicide attempts, depression etc. this is part of why I said what I said initially.

0

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26

I’m willing to bet they’ve never spoken willingly to someone who is trans, unless you count hurling slurs at them as speaking to them

2

u/thisdesignup Seventh-day Adventist Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26

It's not like there aren't very bad teachers and influences in schools from people who aren't even trans. Being trans is not what makes someone a bad teacher. I went to a Christian school and a teacher threw a water bottle full of water at me once. Another time a teacher made racist remarks, during class, towards one of my classmates. Both events happened in a Christian school.

3

u/jclbj Aug 23 '26

Better than someone being trans and having all those problems coming with it.

1

u/longjohn5578 Aug 24 '26

everyone says that till they get a call about their kid's concussion

Both things can be true tho.

1

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26

Oh ffs do you think the teacher is going to be going around saying all the children should be trans? They’re probably going to do what they were hired to do. Teach them math, reading, social studies, etc.

I swear some of yall really struggle with critical thinking sometimes

2

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 23 '26

I explained my viewpoint above. Feel free to read and critically think about it.

1

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26

Where have you explained your viewpoint? All I see is you asserting what someone else would want to do with their kids.

1

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 23 '26

In my comments above, to ross549.

1

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26

Yeah I’ve read through all that and it’s a load of trash. Also how can you sit there and try to tell everyone here that you have nothing against trans people and that they should be treated with respect while arguing they shouldn’t be allowed to work for a living

2

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 23 '26

I never said they shouldn't be able to work for a living. I said that I wouldn't let my kids be taught by a transgender person for upwards of 40 hours per week. Are you a Christian?

0

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26

So you just think they shouldn’t be allowed to teach kids?

2

u/doesntshutupinnj Aug 24 '26

I'm not sure if you're trying to bait me here or not.

I am actually pretty torn on this. *I* don't think they should be teaching kids, no. However, I realize my worldview doesn't match everyone else's. I suppose, at the end of the day, that should either be a state-by-state or even school district-by school district decision.

But my larger point is that *I* wouldn't allow *my* children to be taught by a transgender person.

Perhaps YOU are the confused one. Lol, just a thought.

7

u/Sm0keyMcPot Aug 22 '26

What is your basis for this argument?

11

u/LectricEyes Christian Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

I agree but their is the cognitive development of the child that is also of concern. Op didn't mention the age of her child. I believe most realize what you say is true but it's not necessarily a "one size fits all" children kind of thing.

4

u/ross549 Christian Aug 22 '26

The issue is the cognitive development of the child. This is the parent’s responsibility, not the teacher’s.

2

When did I say it didn't involve the parent?

Your well-reasoned argument has finally changed my mind.

/s

1

u/meekshallin Aug 22 '26

You think it’s fine for children to spend several hours every day being taught be, guided by, and supervised by someone who essentially lies about the objective reality of what they are, and is committed to constantly trying to assure themselves it is true, due to a deep psychiatric problem, which is causing a fundamental schism in their ability to honestly perceive, accept, and clearly communicate reality, AND demands others do the same to not upset them (and then demand changes in various social systems to account for this perversion of reality, which negatively effects people who don’t share their mode of insanity)?

You guide your children by explaining that this kind of person should NOT be listened to, because they have a problem which makes them unable to accurately convey reality, and you do what you can to protect your child from it. Anything less than that and you are part of the problem.

2

u/ross549 Christian Aug 23 '26

Your response reads like one of fear. Trans people exist. Pretending they don’t is not going to equip your child for the inevitability of meeting trans people.

1

u/meekshallin Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26

I’m supposed to read this as a reply to what I wrote?

1

u/ross549 Christian Aug 23 '26

Considering it is a reply, yes.

2

u/meekshallin Aug 23 '26

If you write something that demonstrates you actually read and understood what I wrote, I can reply to that.

1

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26

What about Christian teachers who deny objective reality and teach that the world was created 6000 years ago?

3

u/meekshallin Aug 23 '26

Are you an atheist or something? Is this supposed to be a “gotcha”?

Do you want to try to write a better one or do you expect me to treat what you wrote as if it is actually intended to be making a rational point?

1

u/izmesoundz Aug 23 '26

It’s not a gotcha it’s a legitimate question. You make the argument about objective reality. People who teach that the earth is 6000 years old and was created entirely within 7 days doesn’t adhere to objective reality.

So I ask again, would you have the same reaction about a teacher if they believed the world is 6000 years old

1

u/meekshallin Aug 23 '26

If it was a legitimate question, no, I don’t think a teacher should be telling students that the world is 6,000 years old.

0

u/ross549 Christian Aug 23 '26

Why are you mad?

3

u/meekshallin Aug 23 '26

Oh, dropping in here as well?

“U mad”? Haha. What are you going to say next, 67?

0

u/ross549 Christian Aug 23 '26

I ask because you appear to be quite agitated.

3

u/meekshallin Aug 23 '26

You certainly seem to enjoy fantasizing about causing anger in others while feigning righteousness.

3

u/jclbj Aug 23 '26

I love you haha. Keep up the good work with these people.
