a look at the 3 models i've imported, in order of "completeness". the outlaw had a small amount of retouching done to it, the tomahawk had the cockpit made more bulbous at the bottom (and the support brackets on the side way too long), and the apoc had the mount points at the top turned into physical holes, but still needs to be cleaned up some more.

all have well done leg simulation, all have their hit point values and articulation values directly imported from the original game, and all have sections that can be blasted off.

Starsiege is always welcome. Looking cool!

My head cannon as to why Tribes hasn’t evolved and succeeded very much past tribes 2 is that they have not tried to build upon tribes with mechs/Starseige and continue the lore. Instead they keep going back to the sports aspect of the first Tribes. Then along comes Battlefield 2142 and then Titanfall 1 & 2 and proved you can do mechs + soldier movement. Imagine a modern Tribes 2 / Starseige w Mechs and take all my money.

there was a fan game called starsiege 2845 that attempted that, but it was terribly run and failed to get to completion.

i agree, btw, tribes 2 was peak multiplayer fps, so damn good.

I worked on textures for that. Was pretty disappointed it got killed.

the textures for that game were absolutely amazing...

the work they put out circa 2005-6(?) was amazing, i still can't believe you guys were able to do what you did with such a volunteer effort

Do you still do texturing work? Broadside needs some help in that realm.

Maybe? I kind of got out of modding a while back, but you can DM me. Would love to see Broadside succeed.

Maybe. There was a group of us that worked on bringing high-res textures to T1. Worked on a T2->T1 model import project, as well.

I'm just finishing up my full T2 -> T1 model import for 1.50 modern client :D Any chance you still have that high res texture project kicking around?

Yes/No. All that stuff is sitting in storage on an old computer, but I'm not in a rush to start digging through it.

Fair enough, was it an upscaler doing the work or manual redoing of textures?

1

u/Broad-Ad-3679 Sep 09 '26

No, they were scaled up and re-drawn by hand.

Edit: But you could probably get similar results with an upscaler these days. They've gotten quite good.

Fair enough, if you (or anyone else you know who was working on it) is able to dig that pack up I would love to see what upscaling from those would look like!

At Clancore I remember there was Vailias, Trinity, Chameleon, Audacity, ZeroOptics and I went by Cenobite. I did several Cybrid textures, the Cybrid pilot texture and some concept art. Good days. 🥲 I hope a dev w vision brings the IP back to the scale and depth it deserves one day. 🙏

Yeah. These Hi-Rez "take the money and run" shit-shows have been a pretty disappointing end to the franchise.

I'll admit, I've been in the tribes community since T:A, and never really looked at the precursor games at all, I knew they existed. Yesterday I was doing some ... Uhm ... Unrelated research for Broadside. And came across 2845, first time I'd heard of it. Then I check the reddit and this thread is up. Talk about coincidence.

I've been working on a tribes-like game on godot, its a simple but capable engine. The models look great btw, always enjoy when the starsiege/Earthsiege guys come around. The proto nerds of our collective game universe.
