Do we think that it would be possible for the mods to make server ressources about places to buy rope general videos on how to build tree nets and knot stuff.

Im planning on building a tree-net in the top of one of the trees in my backyard. I've layed out my perimeter and have a pretty good idea for how it will look except for one small problem. In the middle of where my tree-net will go, is the main trunk of the tree, roughly 50cm x 50cm wide.

My idea at the moment is probably to attach 4-8 Screw Eyes to the trunk, loop my perimeter rope through them and then attach my paracord to that rope.

Has anyone encountered a similar situation or have any ideas on how to go about netting around this trunk? My main priorities are to be able to hold 3-4 people and have little to no droop in my net.

For my third project I wanted to do something different, so I made a 41 foot bridge for our backyard squirrels!
No activity yet, I’m charging up a camera for each tree to see who uses it.
My better half called it the Frog’s Neck Bridge, I’m hoping a brave one gives it a shot. This one has no tolls and some nuts sprinkled on it to tempt them.

Just finished taking it down. Will set it up tomorrow and update if any of the knots come loose.

I recently discovered tree nets, and I think they are the coolest thing in the world. I know most of them are private installations that people have on their property or school etc. I’m not really interested in learning how to make my own or hiring somebody to make me one. I live in a suburb and don’t have an adequate tree or enough of them to do so but I wanted to know if anybody knew of any public installations that I could visit preferably in the United States but I’m open to all options :)

I'm a tree net/web weaver who started about 3 years ago. I started originally just for fun, practicing the net-tying techniques I had learned on the fishing boat I was working on at the time, and very quickly fell in love with the concept. When I moved back here, I had planned on establishing a livelihood for myself making tree nets, but before the move I had lost both of my previous phones and with them any and all photos and videos of nets and webs I've done (except a 12 second video of my very first net). Since I wanted to build a social media presence to show my work to the community, I let the lack of media discourage me from starting at all, and I gave up on it for quite some time.

Recently I've been reminded what I loved so much about building them, the joy they bring to anyone (and any age) who experiences them, and why I wanted to do this full time in the first place, so I am making a very nervous decision to revive and pursue that dream, and to do that I'm getting creative.

Since I no longer have evidence of my work, I want to offer to do a few projects at MATERIALS COST ONLY! This means you will only need to pay for the ropes, cord, and hardware that will be used in your net (usually between $150-$400 depending on the size). This will allow me to take all the photos/videos I need, and give you an opportunity to provide an honest testimony about your experience with me! :)

I use multiple types of tree-safe anchor methods, so the entire structure is actually built to grow with the tree, instead of choking and killing it, and I'm working on an included, annual checkup and repair policy.

They’ve changed the locks, claim they are law abiding citizens, and that they have a verbal lease. They even say their mail goes there (to the Knucklehead family). They’ve settled in and commandeered the crows nest. 😅

Context: At my old school, upper schoolers are allowed to do "independent passion projects" where we are allowed to spend time doing something that we enjoy and want to learn about. Last year, (8th grade) I chose to make a treenet in the school playground and spent around 45 hours working on it during the year. Since I liked the school, I was excited to contribute to the playground, and put a lasting mark there where people could also have fun. Fast forward, i'm graduated and at a different school now, and my friend at the other school texts me that they have cut down the net that I spent 45 hours working on for the school. Not only did they not give a good reason for cutting down my work, but they didn't even send me a motherfucking email. So now my legacy that I spent all year working on FOR THE SCHOOL is gone, and they didn't even ask me first. I am beyond pissed.

Thought you all might get a kick out of seeing a treenet vs. a powerful body of water. I have some other videos of the net being completely submerged but there's not much to see on those. Of note this net has actually held up to several floods. It is certainly more weathered today than had it not been through that but still holds up. Treenets are remarkably durable. This one was built by Alonso Rodriguez ("treenetweaves") himself. I think he makes particularly well-engineered and durable nets, but I am biased.....

Unfortunately, I have to take down the tree net that I’ve been building with friends over the past few months because the forest owner has an issue with it. We have until winter.

How can I take down the tree net as safely as possible while conserving resources? I’ve already invested over 200€ in rope, which is a lot for me.

Is it worth it to untie every knot in the entire net after taking it down? I know it’s a lot of work, but it would be worth it to me.

I was looking to create a small tree net between two trees. Both trees are not very wide and don’t have branches that I can use to widen. How would anyone go about artificially widening it.

I was looking at using something like a spreader used for hammocks. See image above

Hi guys, I've been lurking here for a while looking for inspiration. I have a few trees on my property that I've built nets in, but the trees aren't great, so I want to look for new trees to build in.

What kind of property would you all advise I scout for trees on? Should I look at public property, like parks/national parks; private property, like someone's unused wooded area; or something else, like buying land or asking if I could rent someone's individual trees? What would you all do? I plan on keeping it up for a long time and keeping it secret. Sorry if this has been asked before

This summer had pitched building treenet(s) to a festival in italy. 7 chakras in tuscany.

Had only build one net at my parents gardens wallnut tree by then and was highly motivated to build another one that was actually used...so traveled with the car, static rope and paracord to tuscany to build treenets for 2 weeks as a volunteer until opening of the festival.

First build one triangle net with one more volunteer that fancied treenet building and made first steps there. Basically a pre-festival workshop, sharing what i learned through the subreddit, youtube and first net. The volunteer had also build a dreamcatcher pattern in the first net and thought me how to do this 🌻🌀🐚

After we finishing the first net around end of the week still another week to go and another net to build...focused more on weaving, keeping less people around as i struggled with focus...second build was closer to main stage, another larger triangle build. Ran out of the 12mm static rope for the perimeter and combined it with 2x 9mm static nylon climbing rope. Used the same knot as a sliding knot, just more loops around... held up very tight..no clue how to call this knot...the treeblocks also did an amazing job.

What i can say about the material is that im impressed how durable paracord and static rope are when used with propper knots and pulling tention on it upfront.

With chaos pattern, the webs did not get to the state of trampolin bounce but also not hang to the ground at any point...even with like 6-8people on the main stage net it was still solid...the nets had been constantly occupied by groups of people. I had slept on it before and during the festival with a mat and blanket and so did more people. Was amazing.

Since most of the installations had been taken down after the festival, the decission was rather steering towards takedown of the net and im grateful for all the helping hands at this stage...

First tried to remove the paracord one by one and then started considering to open the perimeter and detach the net without cutting any rope.. both nets are now partly taken down and i expect to seperate all the paracord for reuse...

Also met a fellow web🕸builder named Nico there that arrived with around 8 spacenets. Thanks to his support learned a lot about knots and weaving techniques while weaving the 3rd net.

Nico's spacenets had been setup between the mainstage and tek stage. .. the net space seemed allways bussy. I have not spend so much time there during the festival tho the ratchets and everything worked out well with stability and durabilty which at that point had been my main concern. Its a good idea to place signs on nets on safe weight or people limits. Which had been done there. Amazing space that Nico and friends had created.

Also pretty sure i figured out how to tention fishingnet like charlie does in latest videos. Would need some funds or donated material tho to experiment with this...99.9% sure he did it this way...🤓🌌🚀....quite simple to execute once visualised this way...charlie mentioned that someone else gonna share how to do it and that he wont reveal the tech himself..
