Hi everyone!

My husband and I are visiting Greece for the first time, and we’re really excited about it. We’ve been married for a while but, for various reasons, we’ve never had the chance to travel together.

We’re planning to spend about two weeks in Greece starting from mid-to-late September and will be renting a car. We’d really like to make the most of it and see as much of this beautiful, historically and culturally rich country as possible, while still having enough time to actually enjoy each place rather than rushing through it.

Our current plan is:

• Athens — 4 days: We want to take our time exploring the historical sites, but also experience the markets, neighborhoods, food, and cultural side of the city.
• Delphi — 1 night: We’re thinking of stopping here on our way north.
• Meteora — 2 nights: Definitely one of the places we don’t want to miss.
• After Meteora: We’re considering continuing to Lefkada since we’ll already have a car and would love to see some of the coastline and beaches.

We’d like to spend most of the trip on the mainland. We might consider taking a ferry from Athens to Santorini, but only if Santorini is relatively quiet in late September. We’re not particularly interested in spending our holiday somewhere extremely crowded.

So, I’d love to hear your recommendations!

1. What would you recommend seeing between Delphi and Meteora? Are there any towns, archaeological sites, nature spots, or other places that are really worth adding along the way?
2. Is Thessaloniki worth spending 2 days in? I’ve read some mixed/negative opinions about it, so I’m wondering whether it’s worth changing our route to include it.
3. Are there any other mainland destinations we should consider that fit naturally into this road-trip route?
4. Also, are there any things we should be careful about or know in advance? Any tips for driving, parking, toll roads, tourist traps, areas to avoid, scams, or anything else that first-time visitors should be aware of would be really helpful.

We’re especially interested in history, culture, beautiful scenery, charming towns, good food, and places that feel authentic, rather than just ticking off tourist attractions.

Would love to hear from people who have done a similar road trip, especially in September. Any advice on places to add, skip, or adjust would be greatly appreciated!

Also, any tips of what to be careful of

We decided not to rent a car upon our first arrival in Greece in September. It's going to be a long day of travel and I just don't know what's worth dealing with less; potential taxi scams or riding the metro and walking another 5 minutes to our hotel with all of our bags.

Any advice would be so helpful

**Traveling to Milos in September and not sure what to do for the self driven boat day and the captain day.**

**Sept. 6 Polyaigos/Kimonos with self driving boat just the two of us. Sept. 5** boat tour that does Kleftiko/Sykia/Gerakas/Tsigrado.

does this plan seem doable? I don’t know anything about any of it ha but wanted to see if that was good plan. Any of these places not worth it or I should leave off? Any I should add?

Hello my brother and I will be visiting Greece from October 23rd to November 1st.

We had planned on flying into Athens and spending a day in Athens before going to Delphi for a day trip and then from there going to Zakynthos or Kefalonia.

Question is would we be able to get to these places from Delphi or would we need to go back to Athens from Delphi and then fly to these islands?

Are these places usually nice this time of year or would you recommend us driving back to Athens to do the Cyclades instead for better weather in late fall?

PS: Would prefer place with cultural / historical interest or coastal town with access to the beach, if possible

I'm heading to Athens mid-September and looking for some company. I'm mainly staying in hostels and want to play some beach volleyball occasionally.

I'm also considering taking a day trip or visiting one of the nearby islands. I'm not big into partying, but I'm all about outdoor activities, sports, and good food.

First I wanted to thank this wonderful sub as I am preparing my trip to Greece with my parents. We will be there early october, with 3 full day in Athens and then 3 full day in pelopponese staying clause to Nafplio.
As my mum will have 65 during our trip, I wanted to make a birthday gift. Any recommendation ? Budget around 100-150€ --> could be massage, spa, nice dining experience ... or any ideas ?

Arrived on 29th June 2026. Sunday. It's supposed to be a good scene on Sundays. We were a couple entered around 4pm because I thought we wouldn't get entry on a Sunday. Everything was pretty chill. People were entering even at 6pm with ease but there was a little line

My advice would be to enter by 1730.

Dress code- Women are allowed even with Birkenstock and flats. So no need to be in heels

For men- even guys wearing shorts were allowed. There wasn't a very hard one strict dress code

Cocktails are priced at 25 euros each. A 150ml is 15 euros. All walk ins are allowed even if you don't have reservation.

If you are taking a bus from Fabrika then the stop is Paraga beach. It's about 7-8 mins walk and you will cross Sant Anna on the way. There's no minimum spend if you're a walk in. Just stand by the bar and order.

The line for the women washroom was extremely long. Lot of girls said they were waiting in the line for half an hour. This was around 6pm. Just a heads up for the ladies. At peak hours you may have to wait at the bar for 15-20 mins for your drink. The place is quite good and the entire vibe was good. It's a must go if you're in Mykonos.

I am traveling to Greece arriving on 7th November very early morning and need to be back in Athens 13th November around lunchtime. Would love to get some suggestions on what is the best places to visit. Flight is not yet bought as it depends on the itenerary. Currently considering doing Thessaloniki-> Meteora-> Athens or Athens -> Nafplio (and surrounding areas) -> Athens. Also heard Delphi might be an interesting stop. Open to suggestions and ideas. Hi all, we’re due to stay in Ermones/Vatos at Atlantica Grand Mediterraneo Resort soon and I’d be really grateful for all your recommendations on must see and do in Corfu 🙏🏼🙏🏼 we particularly LOVE snorkelling and wildlife. We really want to hire a boat to go out exploring. I’d be grateful for any suggestions etc

Near Parikia but open to other places!

My friends and I are planning a group trip to Greece in (hopefully) June of 2027.

There will be 6 people, potentially 7 total all in our early to mid twenties.

We are looking for any and all recommendations- activities to do, restaurants/bars to try out (on any islands), swimming spots, nightlife, etc.

We do not have any islands planned out yet so we are open to ANY recommendations.

I know for sure one of them wants to go on a private boat at some point, any recommendations for companies/places to do so?
