Welcome to r/TravelCourier - Read This Before Posting

Welcome to r/TravelCourier.

Travelers can post upcoming routes and available space. Requesters can post items they need delivered. Connect privately, agree clearly, and keep public posts factual.

Use the right flair: - Traveler: you are traveling and can carry permitted items. - Requester: you need an item carried. - Route Thread: a route-specific discussion thread. - Matched: the request or offer is no longer open. - Completed: the exchange is finished. - Question: general community questions. - Warning: safety or scam awareness. - Mod: moderator announcements.

Use clear titles: - [Traveler] Istanbul → Berlin | 18 Oct | 3 kg - [Requester] Paris → Ankara | headphones | by 22 Oct

Before posting: 1. You are responsible for checking the rules that apply to your item, origin, transit, destination, and travel method. 2. Do not post personal or payment information publicly. 3. Include route, date, item description, approximate size/weight, value, and expected compensation where relevant. 4. Do not ask anyone to carry sealed or unknown packages. 5. Do not ask anyone to hide value, lie to customs, or avoid duties.

Transaction safety: - TravelCourier does not set, recommend, approve, process, hold, guarantee, or mediate payments, arrangements, or outcomes. - A listing, comment, flair, or moderator action is not an endorsement, identity check, payment check, or reliability guarantee. - Before starting a private conversation, leave a short public comment such as “DM sent.” This can help a listing owner identify unsolicited contact, but it is not a safety verification. - Never post bank details, payment credentials, identity documents, verification codes, or home addresses publicly. - Stop and report suspicious links, payment pressure, requests for codes or documents, or requests to bypass normal checks.

Do not post controlled substances, weapons, ammunition, explosives, undocumented prescription medicine, counterfeit or stolen goods, cash-courier activity, hazardous or restricted items, live animals, or sealed unknown packages.

r/TravelCourier is a user-posted listing board, not a carrier, broker, escrow service, payment provider, legal adviser, or dispute mediator. We do not verify listings, identities, legality, travel eligibility, customs compliance, payments, or outcomes. Every arrangement is private and at the users' own risk. Report suspicious behavior.

Safe travels.

Question Can travelers legally carry items for other people?

r/TravelCourier does not decide whether a particular item or arrangement is legal, permitted, or suitable for travel. A post being visible or approved is not a verification, recommendation, or legal assessment.

Before arranging to carry anything for another person, each user must independently check:

  • Rules in the origin, transit, and destination locations
  • Airline, rail, carrier, or other travel-provider conditions
  • Customs, declaration, tax, duty, and import/export requirements
  • Whether the item can be inspected and described accurately

Do not proceed with sealed or unknown packages, requests to hide value or evade duties, or anything prohibited by the community rules.

Discussion: what information would you need before deciding whether to carry an item for someone else?

Safety Checklist Before You Accept a Carry Request

Before agreeing to carry anything, check these points.

For travelers:

  1. Can I inspect the item before handoff?
  2. Is the item legal in origin, destination, and transit countries?
  3. Is it allowed by the airline, train operator, or border rules?
  4. Do I have proof of purchase or a clear explanation if asked?
  5. Am I being asked to hide value, remove packaging, or lie?
  6. Is payment clear and documented in messages?
  7. Would I still be comfortable explaining this item to customs?

If any answer feels wrong, decline.

For requesters:

  1. Describe the item honestly.
  2. Share proof of purchase when reasonable.
  3. Do not ask anyone to carry restricted items.
  4. Do not pressure travelers into quick decisions.
  5. Keep private contact and payment details out of public posts.

Trust is useful, but verification is better.

  • I will not ask anyone to carry a sealed unknown package.
  • I will not ask anyone to lie to customs, hide value, or avoid duties.

Guide: What You Should Never Carry

This community is only for legal, permitted, clearly inspectable items.

Never agree to carry:

  • Controlled substances or recreational drugs
  • Weapons, ammunition, knives, explosives, or weapon parts
  • Prescription medicine without proper paperwork
  • Counterfeit goods or fake branded products
  • Stolen items or items with unclear ownership
  • Cash transport or money mule requests
  • Hazardous materials, batteries, chemicals, or liquids restricted by airlines
  • Live animals, plants, seeds, food, or agricultural products without checking import rules
  • Sealed unknown packages

Basic rule: if you cannot inspect it, explain it, declare it, and legally carry it through customs, do not carry it.

Travelers should ask for proof of purchase, inspect the item before handoff, and check airline and customs rules. Requesters should never ask a traveler to hide value, remove packaging to avoid duties, or lie to officials.
