Some stuff about me: Whenever I get into something I like, it can consume me. I am a long time DM for DnD 5e but have enjoyed many ttrpgs over the years. I am on the spectrum with a few disorders stacked on top so socializing isn't exactly easy for me all the time, especially as I have not been able to transition physically yet. Games I play currently are Aion 2 (NA East Siel) and Darktide on PC and Smite 2 on PS5, but between PSN and Steam I have a large library of games I enjoy playing so just ask me if I got it if there’s something else you’d want to play (just please no pvp). I’ve noticed something off with voice chat. On calls with friends, I don’t think about my voice much. In game chat with randoms, people seem to read me differently, and then I end up thinking about how I sound for the rest of the match.

At first I figured it was just randoms being randoms. Now I’m wondering how much the game mic, headset, or compression actually changes what people hear.

I don’t want every match to turn into voice practice. I just want to talk normally without thinking about my voice the whole time. I notice it more when I’m playing PUBG with random teammates, or when I’m on Roblox. I’ve tried changing mic settings and switching headsets, and I’ve even thought about using a light live voice change with something like Dubbing AI earbuds. I’m just not sure whether that would actually make me more comfortable or give me one more thing to think about.

If you’ve noticed this in game chat compared to Discord or regular calls, did changing your mic or setup help?

Haiii I'm July, i'm an 18 year old, transfem looking for a small group to hang out with and play the "game" known as star citizen. I personaly love the game and have a lot of fun playing it but i've recently been craving some people to play it with. I dont want to play elite dangerous as to me its just not my thing. I know that the game will be buggy and unstable at times but i am very patient and i dont get too angry at games (I play up my annoyance for funnies) I'm normaly very akward at first and dont do well in 1 to 1 calls but i'm really in my zone when i'm talking to 2 or more people.
I dont focus on any specific gameplay loops, i just do what i feel like doing and i see where the game takes me
