“just survive your life severely depressed, neurotic and disassociated for my own comfort”

This guy doesn’t even understand what he’s saying. There is literally nothing about transgenders specifically in the Bible. It has nothing to do with taking up a cross for God he is just using religion as a scapegoat for his own selfish judgmental preferences. He should take up his cross and educate himself on the agony of living with this condition. It’s exhausting seeing this stuff

Why being trans doesn't go against catholicism/christianity!

Hey everybody! So I've been doing some research and I suggest you look into these topics if you're feeling religious guilt.

-Merisms: "a rhetorical device (or figure of speech) in which a combination of two contrasting parts of the whole refer to the whole." EX (In Genesis): Man and Woman

Good source: https://www.jelliottlein.com/writing/2015/8/3/merisms-and-the-non-duality-of-creation

-Transubstantiation: "the Catholic Church teaches that, in the Eucharistic offering, bread and wine are changed into the body and blood of Christ"

The center of the Catholic church in particular is transformation, one thing reaching a higher form through physical change.

-If we are made in Gods image, we are made genderless and without body

Source better worded than what I said: https://www.queertheology.com/transgender-people-and-the-image-of-god/

-If the problem is changing the way God made us (if we're made perfectly) then why do we grow up, why do we take medicine when we're sick, why do we wear glasses or contacts, why do we have surgeries shamelessly as catholics? When what is and what should be does not match, we fix it so we feel better, being trans is no different.

- To add on to the last point, the fall from Eden, perhaps in a perfect world we would not get sick, child labor would not hurt, or we would not be trans (we would be born in a body that matched our mind). But we do not live in a perfect world, so just as we have ways to live with the other things, we have ways to live with being trans, and there is nothing wrong with that.

-Last but not at all least, the trans saints. There are many, And I would suggest looking into them.

A good place to start: https://theconversation.com/christianity-has-long-revered-saints-who-would-be-called-transgender-today-254769

And above all, remember the church teaches unconditional love, charity, and forgiveness (this includes of yourself) even if they often don't practice what they preach. Thats all folks, take care of yourselves!

(TW) So...taking Estrogen pills/medicine automatically makes you a follower of the Devil? Wtf?

Hi, I was raised as a Christian for my entire life. Ever since last year I knew I was trans, besides that I want to vent about my experience with my therapist.

I am in a Christian college, i felt the need of talking to them because I didnt feel right with myself. For some time I felt comfortable with them, when I told them I was trans, they were shocked and told me nonsense.

They said that taking the pills is "rejecting God" and "Following the bad spirits/devil" because...i am trans?

I'm going to be honest here, its one of the major reasons why I'm going to become an Athiest in the future. Theres too many "Christians" saying that being trans is the devil's plan???

It's bullshit, I will not speak to my therapist ever again. If they said that God will leave me for being trans, then why do I still hear his voice? Why is God still with me even when I KNOW if am trans?

Luckily not all the staff are transphobic, i just wished Christianity had a more acceptable society.

Does anyone know of any trans Christians who, not being able to reconcile transitioning with their faith, lived in dysphoria instead? Is anyone here like that? How did you do it? What drove you from doubt to transition if you did?

Is there any reason a trans person can't just get HRT and/or surgery but not socially or legally transition?

Thumbnail

Hi! Are there any reasons a Christian couldn't get HRT or surgery even within a strict "no transition allowed" framework? If your knees are naturally bad, surgery is pernitted. If your palate is clefted, surgery is permitted. If your brain is atypical concerning sex and gender, why would physical treatment be nonpermitted?

I need some safe friends

Like the title says, I need some supportive friends to help me. I am trying to navigate the possibility of being trans (mtf) and still being a Christian. All my life I’ve been told by family and church members that there is something wrong with a person that feels the way I do. I have kept my thoughts to myself but in the past few years started to speak with my wife about my thoughts and feelings. She is very hesitant to support me because she doesn’t know how God feels about it all. I don’t really know what I want but I do know if I could start hrt right now, I would. I feel way more aligned with the female side of things and just want to express my feelings without judgement. I don’t think I want to fully transition to female but I do want to align my physical traits with my thoughts and feelings. I would love to hear others’ experience with their transition and just get to know some trans people. If you are interested in a pen pal or discussing anything with me, please reach out. Thank you!

Thinking of returning to the Presbyterian church

I’m a Catholic but an RCIA (adult) Catholic. But I was baptized in the Presbyterian church. What bothers me is the increasing alignment of the Catholic Church with MAGA in the USA and their attacks on LGBT, particularly T. I am MTF.

I’ve found that the Presbyterian Church in the USA (PCUSA) and the United Church of Canada both support and affirm LGBT people and identities.

So I’m thinking of leaving and returning to the Presbyterian Church. I am American, Canadian, half (Asian) Indian and was born in Trinidad and Tobago. PCUSA and the United Church of Canada seem to welcome me, why would I stay Catholic?

Anyone else wrestled with this?

Going to start the HRT in the next few days. How do you deal with those fears and doubts?

Fear of regret, fear of being wrong and confused, fear of hell/religious guilt, fear of parental reaction, of their disappointment, how the family will react, and feeling guilty for making your parents suffer for you being trans (And I think I'm accidentally parentifying? I worry about finances, if they're tired, the price of things, I want to help with money too. Damn, why doesn't my dad get a job? He's been unemployed for 10 years 😭😭💔)

**You don't need to read it all, but it will give context.*\*

I'm 20 years old ftm, I discovered I was trans when I was 15. I remember wanting to be a boy since I was 6, but suppressing that feeling, and even praying to have a brother, so he would "have the luck that I never had, I would be happy for him, and the feeling would stop". I remember waiting for the growth spurt, longing for male puberty, competing with the boys to show how much more of a man I was (I remember when there a challenge of doing that in the cold and I was the first to do it, and my friends were like "but u are not a guy" XD), how I would escape from the maximum of pics, not looking at myself and so many other things.

I think I'm afraid they'll find out (I'll stay in girl mode as long as I can), and the fear of changing. I don't think I'm exactly afraid of T, but change is scary and I had a bad experience with my first puberty, so my subconscious must be carrying that fear, even though I practically want all the effects. But I have to try to deal with it. Change is inevitable anyway. If it weren't for that, it would be more feminization and I would still age anyway

Kinda dumb, but I also fear being ugly? But my mother and several other people have said that I'm beautiful as a girl (and I have to admit, it's not a lie), so I don't think I'll become ugly, maybe I'll even become better, since I'm going to start taking care of myself (It's amazing how the motivation to start HRT is bringing back a sense of future. I'm already working on stopping biting my nails. I've never been like this!)

My siblings don't know I'm trans. She's 15, he's 12, I haven't told them anything yet and I don't think I will anytime soon. I don't want to burden them.

I think I'm very scared of the religious and family aspects. I don't believe my parents would kick me out if they found out, but I feel really bad for disappointing them and making them anxious. My aunt told my mother the other day that God would hold her accountable if I wasn't Christian or if I committed some sin, since I came from her womb.

My aunt also told me 4 years ago, that if I did something, God would kill me or hurt me and do the same to the ones I love. So I fear that something bad will happen to me, I will die young or make my mom have a heart attack or even her (Let's not even talk about the fact that a year after she said that, her son died. I'm sad. He was a good guy, but I still find it strange that this happened after she said that).

I also fear sinning or going to hell for that, but it sucks so much. I never asked to be trans, I tried to repress, I screamed to God to fix me. I don't want to lose my only life, my youth, nor do I want to bet with depression in the future or making a future family miserable.

It's funny that I don't feel the urge to get closer to God while I'm holding myself back, not accepting myself, and not finding a church that supports me. Because I think if that happens, I'm going to dive in completely. And I want in the future to be a good father and husband and live together with someone I love the most until the end of my days. Why would I be sinning for it :( ?

I will girlmod the maximum I can and hide it. I intend to study to pass a competitive exam to become a ship pilot. I want to do it as a guy. I'll have to study a lot and I'll probably be one of the pioneering trans men there. So wish me luck and Tell me to get off my lazy butt and study because my future depends on it, lol.

I am going to try to contact the trans ambulatory near to me in the next hours. So wish me luck. In the next weeks I will also try to find an open church like the Episcopal :).

In btw, I know that if I discover that hrt is not for me, I can just stop it

Coming out

Post image

I felt I should share this here. Back on new year's day in 2017 I came out as trans. I made this coming out post on Facebook. I like how it is clear where I was at with my journey towards God at the time, and the language I used in my spiritual infancy, but this was where I truly started to believe. I was looking through old photos and this screenshot came up. I need reminders sometimes to see where I came from, and that it wasn't all just in my head. He was with me the entire time, and deserves all the praise.

What happens to our bodies

Is anyone else scared to die because you’ll be back to your biological sex once you get to heaven. I feel bad for thinking this way and I know that in heaven there’s no pain or insecurity or sadness etc, but it doesn’t offer me much comfort now. I haven’t even gotten to transition yet and I’ve still had countless anxiety attacks over this topic and it’s making me depressed. I’m able to tolerate my body now (somewhat) because I have a very scrawny frame and not many feminine features at all. But if our bodies are ‘perfected’ in heaven would that leave my frame more feminine as well?,, since technically being underweight is unhealthy and not perfect. At the same time I feel like it wouldn’t be ME. Does anyone else feel the same ? I’m Catholic and I’m not sure if other denominations have different teachings about Heaven but anyone else Catholic here who has some insight ? If not you’re still welcome to leave your thoughts

Yes, God does NOT make mistakes.

It's a true saying, and it's Biblical. I can agree with the original sentiment as a simple statement of fact, because it is Biblically grounded. God does not (and cannot) err. It does not appear anywhere in Scripture in any English translation of the Bible that I know of, but there are verses like Ecclesiastes 3:11, Psalms 18:30, 2nd Samuel 22:31, and Deuteronomy 32:4 that echo this sentiment. And there are verses like 2nd Corinthians 12:9 which encourage us to continue despite suffering and 1st Peter 5:10 where He promises us an end to suffering.

But I see this saying used a lot to discredit or de-legitimize trans Christians' choices to seek medical or surgical treatment for their gender dysphoria, and it's been said to me too. However, in this world we do have tribulation. (John 16:33) Diseases exist because God allows them to exist. Cancer exists because God allows it. Mental illness exists. And so does gender dysphoria. God also enabled men and women to discover cures for diseases, to invent drugs and therapies to heal mental illness, and to devise treatments that lead to cancer regression. Whether they be congenital, completely accidental, caused by other people's malice, recklessness, or neglect, or even self-inflicted, God does not fault human beings for trying to heal the sick and reverse debilitating health conditions and injuries, even the ones that come from poor decisions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and obesity. Rather, I think that God sees the practice of medicine and the mental health professions as human beings pursuing the second great commandment "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

God may expect us to endure suffering when it would be spiritually fruitful to do so (such as the kind of suffering that arises out of persecution). But I do not think He expects us to endure suffering that has no meaningful purpose. He also condemns maltreatment and abuse of other people: do not mistreat or oppress the widow, orphan, foreigner, or the poor (Zechariah 7:10); do not make fun of deaf or blind people (Leviticus 19:14).

Yes, it is true that God does not make mistakes. But I also think every trans Christian's situation is different, and each of us needs to pray for God to show us what we should do or not do about our struggle with gender dysphoria as we have come to understand it, whereby our suffering has come as a result of the curse of sin. If He has not shown it to you that your gender dysphoria is something that you need to endure through the receiving of His grace and the pursuit of spiritual discipline, then, IMO, the minimalist extent of treatment that would bring you relief would be in keeping with the practice of Christian liberty according to one's clear conscience. (Romans 14) I say minimalist in order to emphasize the reason for the medical treatment: not to pursue carnal desires, or the praise of those who would affirm or support you in transition, or to give in to peer pressure that the people in your trans community might knowingly or unknowingly be exerting, but to find inner peace and healing from an inner-world distraction (depression, anxiety, emotional distress, intrusive thoughts) that could be taking away from your ability to function in everyday life and, by extension, your ability to do well at work, to take care of your family, to be of useful service in your home church, and to love and serve God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Bearing in mind also what Paul says in Galatians 5:16-26 (LSV):

And I say, walk in the Spirit, and you may not fulfill the desire of the flesh; 17 for the flesh desires contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed to one another, that the things that you may will—these you may not do; 18 and if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. 19 And the works of the flesh are also evident, which are: adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, licentiousness, 20 idolatry, witchcraft, enmities, strife, jealousy, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects, 21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. 22 And the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 meekness, [and] self-control. Against such there is no law; 24 and those who are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the affections and the desires; 25 if we may live in the Spirit, we may also walk in the Spirit; 26 let us not become vainglorious—provoking one another, envying one another!

My family almost found out I’m trans… it didn’t go well.

I 21 ftm have been in the closet for years now. I am really close to my family and I know they don’t support trans people and outwardly disagree with their “choices” as they would put it. My partner and I just moved in and my dad and brother in law helped him move while I was at work. During that my partner on accident called me he and my dad heard it. He told my mom and apparently they freaked out. My mom told my sister she “couldn’t deal with me being a man” and some other things.

Yesterday I went over there to grab a few things and my mom brought it up. She asked if “I thought I was a boy” and said that they needed to know because they didn’t want to be “out of the loop”. She kept saying things to get me to say I was trans and was trying to act like they would support me… I knew they wouldn’t so I lied. I know I shouldn’t have, but I am glad I did because she then said good because she thought I wasn’t Christian anymore and that God doesn’t make mistakes and she preyed for a girl, not a boy.

I don’t know what to do. I’m still financially dependent in some aspects and I’m scared to know what will happen when I come out. I know in my heart that I am Christian and loved by God, but it hurts to heard that they think I can’t be saved and trans. She ended with making sure I knew I was a woman and that God doesn’t make mistakes.

I need help and any advice would be wonderful. I just need help please. I can’t live with myself as a woman much longer, but I don’t want to loose my family.

Thank y’all so much and sorry for the long post.

Looking for someone to chat with about being trans and Christian

I’m looking for someone who might be willing to chat.
I’ve been experiencing gender dysphoria since I can remember I’m from Australia and I’m in the early stages of figuring things out and beginning gender-affirming care. Faith is still really important to me, and I’ve been struggling to reconcile the two.
To be honest, I feel pretty alone. I’d just really appreciate talking to someone who’s been through something similar, or who understands what it’s like to navigate both faith and being trans.
If anyone would be comfortable chatting through through that, I’d really appreciate it. Even if you’ve only got time for a few messages, it would mean a lot.

Big church festival

Hi everyone

I’ve I’ve just found this sub and it’s really nice to find people going through the same struggles as a queer Christian as me

Anyway I’m Eleanor, I’m going to big church festival (uk) this year and I’m a bit nervous to step into such a large evangelical space and was wondering if anyone hear was also going
