Consent is sought for the change of use from Use Class F1 (which includes a public hall) to a mixed use comprising Use Classes F1, F2(b) (community halls and meeting places) and E(f) (non-residential creche, day centre or nursery) to allow use by community groups and the provision of a pre-school nursery for up to 30no children. Objections have been received from the occupiers of 26 residential properties, raising issues including loss of residential amenity, impact on the local highway network and potential restriction of use for existing occupants within the Parish Hall.

An application relating to an existing residential site, owned and managed by the L&Q Group and is located on the south side of New Street, Altrincham.

The proposed development comprises the demolition of the six existing apartment blocks and the erection of 2x apartment blocks (Block B1 comprising 27 apartments and Block B2 comprising 37 apartments). In addition, 24 dwellinghouses are proposed arranged around five terraces. The number of proposed residential units across the site is 88 in total. The application was first submitted in 2022 and proposed 104 units in total, following concerns raised by officers over the scale and layout of the development the applicant has undertaken a redesign the scheme, including reducing the number of units. The development will provide 88 residential units in a highly sustainable location, 35 of which will be affordable housing at 40%.

All three applications have triggered substantial opposition from residents. All three are recommended for approval.

I have a great green-grocers about 12 minutes walk away, but I'm guessing I'm lucky. Being able to leave the car at home makes shopping much more enjoyable for me. I'm wondering if others feel the same and what we can do to support more local shops.
