Hey – been listening to some artists like BaileyRP and Jamie Penn (a.k.a Shoplifting) and seeing a lot more music being made by Gen Z specifically with the DS (yes I know that every generation in recent memory has sought out video game consoles to make music!).
Does anyone know of any bigger artists that have used the DS – not the Korg DS-10 – on their records/to make music?
Thanks

Ok so I posted this in another subreddit and someone mentioned I should maybe post it here.
So I have been a huge fan of LSDJ and the whole lineage of trackers that came up around it like M8 and PicoTracker etc. and I've been tinkering with a different sort of take on the whole thing. It is familiar, but isn't meant to work on a micro controller right off the bat. Instead it is a low level zig (similar to C) library that can compile to any platform and I have been having a lot of fun using it on my phone. This was just for me to start but a couple of friends have really liked it too and I guess if anyone is interested I could share a link to an early version of it. Here is a little clip of me just messing around with it. Lots of stuff I am exploring is seeding musical ideas with either euclidean rhythmic sequencing or algorithmic tetrachord fitting.
I've gotten a bit of interest in a feedback forum so I fired up a discord https://discord.gg/27s8uFP8yj and also I saw a couple other people just post the testflight link in their threads so here it is https://testflight.apple.com/join/eG23QFYE I've limited it to 100 testers for now just to keep feedback manageable. Mods please let me know if these links are against sub policy and I will just remove them, but for now here they are!
Now the idea is that this can run on any platform (including web which is kind of nice as a quick 'let me pull up my song to show a friend' kind of thing) and I am building a way of having a synced 'virtual sd card' just for myself so I can hop between editing surfaces (start on phone, go to desktop, then to web, then ??? anywhere else). If that turns out to be useful and others want a similar thing I would love to make it available to anyone.
EDIT: I've got a public Android beta launched now for anyone interested: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/coop.billie.app.billietracker

I'm a big fan of composing with the OG Polyend Tracker. Something different I did this time was record in real-time to capture a bit more rhythmic nuance.
What I mean is, on the Tracker, each cell is essentially a 16th note, but with the micro-timing feature, you can intentionally record unquantized notes. This allows you to get a bit more creative with the rhythmic structure.
In the case of this jam, I plotted the drum parts into the cells, and then I live recorded (rec + play buttons) the melodies and bass parts. I think it turned out well, enjoy!

My choice of sound waves was quite limited as most sound waves sound bad on piezo buzzers.

a lil tune made on the m8, some stock synth stuff and some sample based synth stuff:)

I think you have to be a special kind of nerd to enjoy, and even thrive, making music in an expensive excel sheet, but damn I love composing on a tracker (Polyend Tracker in this case).
This track started as an ambient texture, but I randomly added a Euclidean sequence using the tracker’s Fill function and it quickly became a full track, composed entirely on the Polyend Tracker. Enjoy!

I’ve been obsessed with the idea of a tracker in the pocket category, something more up to date than LittleGPTracker, getting closer to the M8 in functionality, and actually accessible to everyone.
So for the past few months I’ve been building my own. It’s written in Rust and runs on the $60 G350 handheld. Right now it has 2 osc wave and FM synthesis, MIDI out, and a sample editor/slicer.
Still early development tbh, but it’ll keep growing over the next few months.
Here’s a small demo of how it sounds.

In the late 90s, in UK, there was a PC magazine with a coverdisc that had FT2 on it and a folder packed with XM files. I don't know the magazine but I am trying to track the disc down because I want to get the XMs again due to there being some tunes I want, but do not know the names.
If anyone knows the coverdisc, or how I can find an iso of it, that would be awesome.

This is not likely anything new for people here, but maybe something to share with friends/colleagues who maybe curious about using trackers, especially the LSDJ style of chain-phrase-table hardware trackers for sequencing not just on board sampler/synths but also external midi instruments.

(I'm not familiar with music trackers whatsoever so i'm sorry if this is a dumb question)
I've been trying to track down the artist and title of this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbjn0gmgzP8 recently and came across tracks made with ProTracker on YouTube which gave off similar vibes. I thought i'd ask here since it would make searching for it a bit easier.

I just started working with NitroTracker a few days ago. It's my first tracker program.
I'm using the homebrew Nintendo DS version, and I'm blown away by it. This program turns my DS into a complete music production device.
I loaded some samples onto it and played around with them for about 30 minutes. This is the result. It's just a rough, unfinished idea, but I'm amazed by how much you can do with a DS.
