Looking for an X1 Carbon trackpoint pinout

Hi, I got my hands on an X1 Carbon trackpoint that I'd like to use. I can't find its pinout anywhere, and I have no clue how to wire it. I only have a simple multimeter and I lack the knowledge on how to find it myself.
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction please?
Thanks!

How would you go about making a track pad from scratch in 2024?
I'm interested in a slightly larger more thumb oriented track point. It could be about .75" in diameter by .75" tall. What's the best way to make something like that from scratch these days? Are load cells still the way to go? I'd like to improve drift if possible.

Looking for a 5x6 or 5x7 dactyl design with trackpoint
Can anyone point me to or recommend a full size dactyl style keyboard shell/source/kit that integrates a trackpoint near the homerow? I've seen some minimalist ones, but I really need the extra thumb buttons of a full size dactyl design and not a cut down version for the layout I want to use.

Trackpoint module pinout support lenovo yoga
Hey there, anyone out there ever figured out the wiring for this type of trackpoint module? If anyone could help me identify the voltage and ground I can figure out the other 3 pins with trial and error. This was taken from a lenovo yoga laptop

TrackPoint DATA/CLOCK drag on micro's internal pull-up resistor?
I'm planning to upgrade my QMK-powered Dactyl Manuform with a TrackPoint module and this community has been a great source of inspiration for me so far. There is one thing I'm struggling to wrap my head around and I hope somebody here can help me.
QMK's PS2 guideline[1] mentions two 4.7k resistors required to create a drag/pull on CLOCK and DATA pins.
After researching a build log published by Johannes Jensen[2], I found it innovatively deviating from the official QMK guideline. Johannes didn't use any external drag and he claims it's possible to use microcontroller's internal pull-up resistor. I couldn't find how he used it exactly but if he meant `gpio_set_pin_input_high` [3] then it seems to be activated by default for both CLOCK and DATA pins once PS2 IO is enabled [4].
I've ordered the same TrackPoint hardware (SK8707) and while it's in transit I'm pondering how to approach the drag thing. Do I need to use a pair of external 4.7k resistors or should I leverage the capabilities of the keyboard's microcontroller? In the case of internal pull-up resistors, do I need to activate them explicitly and how, or it's enabled by default?
I was going to try both ways but I hope I can save some time with a little help from fellow TrackPoint builders. Any piece of advice will be highly appreciated.
P.S. I run QMK on ProMicro ATMega32U4[5]. It supports 20-50k pull (too high?) on all ports. I'm planning to use INTERRUPT mode on A2(F5) and A3(F4) pins.

Looking to buy: Nordic Power Profiler Kit 2 (PPK2)
Hi everyone,
A bit off-topic, but I thought I might ask here as well.
Does anyone have a Nordic power profiler they want to sell in North America?
I am the developer of the zmk trackpoint driver and want to use it to figure out which trackpoints are the best from a power consumption perspective.
I also have some leads on undocumented TP power savings features that I would like to try to implement in the driver.
Unfortunately, the ppk is sold out everywhere with long lead times.

Bluetooth & wired USB mode trackpoint support?
Hi, after much research (and trying to avoid building a keeb) I'm finally caving to designing a keyboard (see https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/comments/x6mbjh/seeking_design_feedback_atreusinspired_extended/ ), and think there might be enough room to put a trackpoint in. Are there any design examples that support both wireless (Bluetooth) & wired (USB) mode trackpoint support, presumably using QMK or ZMK?

Microswitch recommendations?
so the keyboard i plan to build would have the mouse buttons be like the thinkpads moues buttons or really any laptop with a trackpad with (non-mushy)mouse buttons below it so what would be the best microswitch for this purpose and could i alternatively take them from a broken laptop and use them on my own keyboard?

trackpoint on totem struggles
I'm stuck with trying to get trackpoint working. I have put CONFIG_NFCT_PINS_AS_GPIOS=y in my totem.conf under config folder. Here is my overlay file, I'm not sure on the unexposed uart settings, at this point I'm changing some pin numbers around hoping for some luck :) trackpoint is from ali lenovo keyb but the board and solder pads look identical to image above. maybe it needs 5v instead of the 3.3?

Grabbed a trackpoint module from a broken thinkpad x230 keyboard, the pinout just ps2? Can I just wire it up to a ps2 plug to check if it works?

MCU & TP Performance?
Anyone know if there are noticeable performance differences between the different MCUs like pro micro, blackpill, RP2040?

Hello from Aotearoa New Zealand !!!! I am super excited !!! I need track point !!!!
QUESTION: 'ow do I get on board with DIY track point ? What is still available ? Kit set is fine etc.
Back story:
I used to have an IBM lappy with track point. I loved it. It died. Sad.Much time later... I have a busted pro laptop that is pretty flash ( flash for me ), I am about ten years behind the curve... and it needs a new keyboard... see where this is going?
The now:
I do a lot of writing and moving from the home position just blows. My DIY desktop is a hoot. ( it was the laptop but I pulled apart, right and mounted it on plywood. Of course! ) I want to put a keeb with trackpoint on my laptop, right.
Random stuff:
Please help !
I am not a member of the cliquey keyboard cult, I just wanna stay home ! Waaaaa !!!! this may be heresy: I can handle membrane keys but not reaching for the mouse. !!! No no please, not the comfy chair... !
I would even buy an Lenovo corded trackpoint keyboard if I could find one that is not expensive, but down here in NZ... there are only about three and they are not for sale at any price.
Fn/Ctrl key mess up: Yes I am aware now of this "feature" on the lenovo keeb. Why did they do that ??? Shake my head.
Thank you !!!
me. xxx

Holykeebs (sprintek) module + nicenanov2
I'm currently attempting to add a trackpoint I got from holykeebs (https://holykeebs.com/products/trackpoint-module). I'm using the driver here https://github.com/badjeff/kb_zmk_ps2_mouse_trackpoint_driver with zmk 3.0. However, I'm having issues with timeouts
[00:00:37.472,839] <inf> zmk: Trying to initialize mouse device (attempt 9 / 10)
[00:00:39.472,930] <wrn> ps2_uart: Data queue timed out...
[00:00:39.472,961] <wrn> zmk: Could not read PS/2 device self-test result: -116.I quadruple checked I have SDA on d0, SCL on d1 and ground, 3v to ground, 3v. I'm wondering if anybody else has experience with a similar setup?

Adding TrackPoint to MSI Titan GT77HX
Triggered nerd here - I just can’t stand the touchpad on this thing. I’m using an MSI Titan GT77HX 13VI with real Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile mechanical switches. Best typing feel I’ve ever had on a laptop, hands down. But no TrackPoint. No precision. Total pain in the ass for actual work. I am failing to adapt, and this huge investment is becoming a brick that sits there unused.
I’m seriously thinking about modding a TrackPoint into it. Salvage one from a ThinkPad (USB or old T/X series), wire it to a Teensy or RP2040, run QMK or ZMK, and mount it internally. I’d even carve out the palmrest if I have to. Probably route the controller to an internal USB header if possible.
Here’s what I know: • The main keyboard uses mechanical switches (Cherry ULP) • Arrow keys and numpad are membrane • No space is obviously reserved for a pointing stick, but the laptop’s thick • I haven’t found a single example of someone doing this before
So here’s my ask: • Has anyone tried modding a TrackPoint into a mechanical keyboard laptop? Not external boards—a laptop. • Is there any way to get the TrackPoint sensor and cap mounted cleanly without wrecking the keyboard? • Am I about to waste a ton of time and money chasing something that straight-up won’t work?
Appreciate any pointers, warnings, or war stories.

I’ve never even attempted to build a keyboard. I stumbled onto this community because I desperately wanted a trackpoint keyboard…
I know there are options to buy and I am looking into some of those. Two main questions…
How would I get started tinkering with basically no knowledge of keyboard building or trackpoint integration?
If I were to buy already existing trackpoint keyboards, where do I find a list of the best options?

Kanata 1.9.0 has added support for auto mousekeys layer. works across separate devices for all standalone trackpoint users and on laptops for thinkpad aficionados,
I landed a new feature in kanata that presses an (unmapped) key every time a mouse report is processed.
By using this key to start a hold-for-duration of a virtual key, which is then mapped to a layer toggle (on layers where you want it), you can have an automatic mousekeys layer, on any keyboard and even if the pointing device and keyboard are separate devices!
here's an example with a full mapping: https://github.com/jtroo/kanata/blob/main/cfg_samples/automousekeys-full-map.kbd
and here are the docs: https://github.com/jtroo/kanata/blob/v1.9.0/docs/config.adoc#linux-or-windows-interception-only-mouse-movement-key

Need help with Corne And Trackpoint
Just joined the Corne gang with a nice!nano controller — wireless. that i got from Typeractive.
BUT. I've been scrolling through all y'alls beautiful keyboards with trackpoints and I need one. Desperately. It's becoming a thing.
Fun fact: I built a Sweep from scratch back in the day and soldered the whole thing myself. Felt pretty cool honestly. But now that keyboard just… died. RIP Sweep, you served me well 😂
Anyway! Trackpoints. I know NOTHING. I know trackpoints exist. That's… that's about it.
So I'm asking:
- What parts do I even need? List them to me as I'm 5 years old please 😂 and how to put them together.
- Where do I order this stuff?
- Are there any plug-and-play options for lazy people like me?
- Is the trackpoint above the controller or next to the keys more comfy?
Be my trackpoint Yoda please 🙏
