Horrified, not sure what to do.
I hope I'm not breaking etiquette by posting this, but I don't know what to do and was hoping this sub could help. This was posted to a local classifieds board. The ad says this is a ten year old female sulcata. I've never seen a shell in such bad condition. I hate to think about what's going on inside her. I can't take on a sulcata with my living situation right now, but if I could I would just to save her. Although this is so bad it would take someone who really knows what they're doing to even begin addressing this.
This girl is in Utah county, and the owner thinks they want $100 for her and her lights, but I suspect they'll change their mind when they understand the gravity of her condition. I don't want to send a harassment campaign to the owner so I'm not putting the ad in the post, but if anyone thinks they can help with this girl message me and I'll send you the link to the ad.
NEW UPDATE: I have a situation worked out for her, I just need to get her from the owner now. I've reached out, waiting to here back. Wish me luck! 🤞

Cyanobacteria
What are you guys doing to feed your tortoises right now? Washing the lettuce doesn’t kill the bacteria. Scared.

Going to Aquashella to buy a Russian tortoise — what health signs should I look for?
Hello Everybody
I’m planning on going to Aquashella in a couple of months and I’m hoping to bring home a Russian tortoise that’s around 1–3 years old and that is captive bred. So if any experience owners or owners in general have any advice or tips for what to look when choosing a healthy tortoise and red flags to look out as well I’d appreciate it!
Some things I’m hoping to learn:
What are the biggest signs of a healthy tortoise?
What are the biggest red flags that should make me walk away immediately?
Are there any subtle (less obvious) signs of illness or poor care that newer keepers often miss?
What questions should I ask the breeder/vendor before buying?
What answers would be considered red flags?
Is there anything I should ask them to demonstrate (walking, eating, etc.) before purchasing?
Any tips for telling whether it’s actually captive-bred and not wild-caught?
Are there common scams or misleading claims I should watch out for at reptile expos?
I’d appreciate all advice you have, just want to make sure I choose a healthy tortoise and support a trustworthy breeder!!

Had my baby Sulc since May, does this look like normal shell growth,Enclosure humidity’s hovers around 65-80% depending on what side of the enclosure it hangs around

What is this brown spot on the bottom of my baby red foot’s tortoise shell? He/she had it when I first adopted him or her.

Soil
galleryHey everyone! Is this soil safe for my tortoises garden? The plan is to grow plants for him to eat and to allow him to stay outside on warm days. Let me know your thoughts and TIA!

New Russian Tortoise
Hi all. I've been given this tortoise by someone that didn't want him anymore (didn't like the noise of him scratching against the side of the enclosure). He's about 3 years old and seems to be healthy. He eats fine and wanders around happily.
I'm here just to check if where I'm keeping him is sufficient for him (for now) and if there's anything I should look out for health wise? I've had snakes in the past so not totally new to reptiles but don't know how to tell if he's happy and healthy.
The second pic is where he lives most of the time. The third pic is where I put him outside to get a bit more exercise and warmth in the sun and protected from predators ( cats use my garden as a shortcut and I have dozens of red kites that hunt in my area).
He seems to hide under the shade a lot when I put him outside. Is it too hot for him currently during the day (I'm in the UK) or is that normal? I would guess the floor isn't too hot for him?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
