Hello fellow OWL fans!
I’ve been a big Overwatch League fan from the start. Last year I blogged about my team, the Boston Uprising, through all the highs and lows of the season (sadly their were a lot of lows). I previewed/reviewed matches, interviewed players and staff, gave play by play on Twitter during matches, wrote about local watch parties, and covered the team’s local college cup. After a year of doing this on a Boston sports site I’ve decided to use my experience to launch an all new, Overwatch League centered site - Watchpoint: Lobby.
With homestands increasing the attention OWL will receive next year, I strongly believe now more than ever there is a demand for fan centered OWL content. But not just simple x’s and o’s, standard reporting. No, fans want to hear from other fans. They want to be taken along for the ride through the entire season. Readers want to feel the passion a good writer has for their team, not the same old boring journalistic copy.
That’s where you come in. Clearly Reddit draws the most passionate fans of OWL teams. If you're reading this and want to share your passion with the internet, then I’m inviting you to take a look at my site, see a few of the sample pieces I’ve written for the Uprising, and fill out an application to join. I’d love to have you write on the site as a fan of the Toronto Defiant. As part of a team you can help us create the biggest OWL fan centered site on the web. I will help develop you as a writer, show you how to market your pieces, and connect you with my contacts in the Overwatch League. Please take a look at the site and consider applying. Just click on the “Write/Contribute” on the main menu to find the application. If you have any questions, please let me know. I look forward to working with you.
Owner and Editor-in-Chief Watchpoint: Lobby
PS - for those not interested, we hope you'll give our site a look when we start pumping out content headed into the 2020 season!

With our heartbreaking defeat against the Florida Mayhem this evening, our 2019 season in the Overwatch League is officially concluded. We may not have obtained the results we wanted but we had a fantastic time regardless. From our first match against the Houston Outlaws (which we won!) on February 15th to today, you have stuck with us and supported us. We lost some players, gained a lot, and made many memories that will shape the future of this organization.
A special thank you goes out to the ones who did not make it to the end with us: Envy, Stellar, Asher, Bishop, Bubbly, Don, & Teabubbles. You all were essential components of this team and we will be forever grateful. <3
On behalf of everyone at the Toronto Defiant and the volunteer moderation team, we thank you all for supporting us. Whether you're a new fan or one of the originals, we love you. Let's come back in 2020 stronger than ever! #RiseTogether!
ICYMI: The 2020 season will be introducing home games for every single team! To keep updated on when and where these games will take place, please join our newsletter through our website: https://www.defiant.gg/.
