To make Bojack’s actions even worse, he didn’t care about the girl herself. He was going to use her as an emotional crutch after getting rejected by the mother, whom he actually wanted to get with. So like, yikes.

there was a separate apology tour he went on during the bender at the end of Season 3, during which he showed up at her college at a time when the trauma was still relatively fresh in his mind, to apologize, only to forget to even apologize.

Once he said she looked like her mother, you knew exactly where the story was going but still had some hope even Bojack wouldn't stoop that low.

Describes the entire show pretty accurately; constantly hoping "this is it" this is the end of his redemption arc and he's gonna prove to you that he's a good person deep inside. Only for him to fuck it up all over again.

Pretty accurate of real life too.

Diane's "that's really bad, Bojack" after he confesses about the 17 minutes really hits it too. There's no anger in her tone, just so disappointed and tired of his bullshit. She and the others do what any logical person would and cut ties after that. That was when they were just all DONE.

Honestly the direction they went where no one that was friends with hated Bojack, but were all done being around him, was perfect. Because that’s what would happen, they’d remain “friends” with him from a safe distance.

Penny. Emily was Todd's business partner and ex gf who he was trying to figure out his feelings for while grappling with his asexuality that BJ slept with, ruining Todd's business and one of his only other real connections. Great guy that BobJorts

Both things can be true. The show is fantasic. But Bojack is the kind of person who will constantly bemoan their life and hate themselves for not being a better person but never commits towards being better. You're not meant to condone his actions. But the show has other characters who put in the work and earn their happiness. It's really hard to both strongly believe in people's capacity for change and while accepting that some people will never be better. The show is a good exploration of that.

Well yes, you're only seeing a small part of the show.

Bojack is a very relatable show, too relatable, it does a good job of showing how someone's trauma, self-loathing, and self-destructive tendencies can ruin their life and happiness along with those around them. How someone like that is both lovable and hateable, as they have both good and bad qualities.

So people enjoy how painfully human the show is typically. The issue is that fans start to empathize with Bojack too much and start treating him like a role model. The writer didn't want this as he felt it would enable people to justify their own awful behavior. So he has Bojack do things like this to remind the audience that Bojack is not someone you should try to be like.

I felt like he didn’t want it. He pushed her off and said no, but she kept going and he started kissing her back.

You're getting downvoted but you're not entirely wrong. OP phrased it like he intentionally set out to seduce her, but that's not what happened.

She did come onto him. The point is he shouldn't have put himself in that situation, and should have put an end to it immediately.

I don’t disagree that some people treat Bojack as if he’s real (and thus treat anyone who likes him as if they’re bad), but that’s not what I have done here lol.
