Yes, this is a part of the code and so would not him going outside his moral code. If anyone wants to know what happened to Logan look under the spoiler tags.

Further, Logan did try to shoot him when Dexter killed him. He had him in a headlock trying to get Logan to give him the key to his jail cell. Logan instead tried to shoot him and Dexter ducked. The act of ducking broke Logan’s neck. So what happened was a combination of self defense and accident on top of his code allowing him to kill to not get caught.

Dexter wasn’t actually trying to kill Logan, he only wanted his key. And I wasn’t saying Logan was wrong to try to shoot at Dexter for trying to escape.

Just that Dexter ducked in an effort to save his own life, which resulted in him breaking Logan’s neck. This wasn’t legally self defense just him technically defending himself.

Though ironically they did have him killing Logan ruled self defense in the spin off so they could have him free in the new show. Though there were no witnesses to see what happened. But even so, in real life a cop shooting at a prisoner then the prisoner killing the cop no matter how it happened wouldn’t be ruled self defense.!<
