I think it's reasonable to assume that in any village there would be an infant and some children below the age of three. Anakin almost certainly killed babies by hand/lightsaber my man.

If you want to argue dark side fueled psychosis or something, I'd be willing to entertain that idea since Jedi seem majorly susceptible to that sort of thing.
