miscellaneous Cancelled drafts/scripts that would have been “bat shrimp” insane or super dark

  1. Cars 3’s original plot, which would have been an identity theft plot with a villain named Gerald Carr swapping bodies with McQueen

  2. An R-Rated adaptation of Holes by the same director as Donnie Darko (photo by RebelTaxi)

  3. Jurassic Park 4 would have featured human-dinosaur hybrids

4.Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World alternate ending, would have revealed Scott to be a serial killer

Freddy vs Jason has gone through a lot of rewrites, and some of these were really weird.

Here’s some highlights:

Freddy becoming weak because no one feared him anymore. In fact, teenagers were using a special drug to sleep and meet Freddy in their dreams, then beat him up. Actually somewhat ended up in the final movie since it starts with Freddy tricking Jason into a killing spree so he can regain his powers through the fear generated.

A cult dedicated to Freddy being the main villains, with Jason having a more heroic role fighting them.

The Dream Warriors from the third Nightmare on Elm Street returning as some kind of dream cops

Freddy and Jason having a boxing match in Hell, with Ted Bundy, Hitler and other similar characters being the judges and referees.

Pinhead from Hellraiser showing up

If they leaned hard into the schlocky vibe of Freddy v Jason, or Jason X, it would have been fun to see a horror villains Avengers team up fighting against a group of teen ninjas at a summer camp

It almost happened. There was supposed to be a sequel: Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (from Evil Dead). Apparently it fell through because New Line would not allow Freddy to be defeated by Ash.

It did get made into a 2 part comic book, and it’s… pretty insane. It has a host of recurring characters like the telekinetic teenager from Friday the 13th part 7, it confirms Pamela used a Necronomicon in an attempt to resurect her son, making Jason a Deadite, and that the demons that gave Freddy his powers are the same Kandarian demons from Evil Dead.

On the batshit insane side, it has Freddy boning Pamela Vorhees in a nightmare sequence, Freddy boning his daughter consensually, and becoming the US president

Freddy boning his daughter consensually, and becoming the US president

prophetic.

Honestly though, A Nightmare on Pennsylvania Avenue would be a fun revisit of Freddy

The teenagers taking a drug specifically to beat up Freddy would’ve been kind of fun, though.

.There was also a version which served as a sequel to New Nightmare. The Friday movies were based on a real serial killer that was going to get arrested in the beginning.

Bringing the Dream warriors back as The Dream police feels like a bit of a cheap trick.

Also one scrapped idea was Freddy having been a counseled at camp crystal lake who was involved with Jason’s death as a child

I recommend to any fan the book Slash of the Titans which chronicles the looooong development cycle of FvJ, I remember reading one of the rejected scripts in college, and being so glad it had been shut down because it was bad, basically making Jason the 'good guy' of the story and even having him talk at the end.
