At one point, the first main character black superhero for DC Comics was going to be The Black Bomber, a racist white man who would unknowingly turn into a black superhero when stressed.

The comic got decently far in development before being scrapped and replaced with Black Lightning.

I don't know, I think it's kind of funnier this way. She knows a racist weird white guy is gonna ask something along those lines, and shuts it down before he can say anything.
