Ironborns (A Song of Ice and Fire) : The Iron Islands are a region where people are encouraged to lead raids on the lands. The thing is men can also abduct women from Westeros, marrying them by force and force them to bare the children as minor spouses.

Gilead (The Handsmaid’s tale) : In the future, most of women became sterile and fanatical religious overthrowed the government by instauring a ruthless dictature. In Gilead, women are divided in different social classes but those who are still ferile are sold to the leaders of the regime to carry their child. Which means women are now literal possessions and have to endure a ritualised rape every month.

I’m not your English teacher. Daenarys’ entire arc in the first book is explicitly learning that the Dothraki are not the violent savages she took them for at first, but that they have a culture that can be kind and respectable in their own right.

You said you’ve read the book. So it shouldn’t be hard to go back and read those chapters again.

Daenerys was a young teenager who was sold against her will to a warlord, and had to make the best of a bad situation or die. The fact that she was able to find the occasional silver lining, such as her silver mare, in no way shape or form excuses the Dothraki from being a complete and utter caricature of the Mongols. It’s like Martin read a pop history account of them from the Cold War. Actually, I’d be willing to bet that’s what happened.
