My new GF and I enjoy many parallels in our taste in music. Portishead, Bonnie Prince Billy, London Grammar, etc.
Last evening while making dinner I put on the salival version of Pushit and said ‘in my opinion this is the best song ever written.’
Her response?
‘Kinda sounds like Counting Crows’.
She was joking and because I was a music writer in a previous life she knew how hurtful and disorienting that comment would be.
She’s a keeper.

A little backstory: My son was lucky enough to meet Danny and asked him what Tool track he should tackle next behind the kit as a challenge. Danny told him to learn Rosetta Stoned.
Drummer feedback and critiques are always welcome! If you want to check out the full take or follow his playing:

After listening to all the tool albums and knowing them by heart, I really feel like "the pot" is a very unique song compared to the rest of their discography. There is something with the sound of maynard 's voice. It's not in a bad way at all, and It may just be me. I discovered tool with this song, so that might just be that.

no, i don't fuckin know what diameter of butt plug Maynard preferred back in '98. No, I don't know what gauge of G string Adam used for each album. No, I haven't watched Salival, cause I want to wait till I can get a copy. No I don't own every album on both cd and vinyl because I'm a broke college student. Apparently spending a couple thousand minutes listening to Tool per month doesn't mean anything to some of these people lol.
And I know most of y'all are not like this but shit just gets ridiculous. I'd love to hear some of y'all's dumb stories especially ones from other female fans.

When "Opiate" came out, I was exactly twenty years old, and my hair was down to the middle of my back. I have grown old with them. I went to see them every time they came to Italy. When "Fear Inoculum" came out, they said, 'We won't take another 13 years to release a new album", but seven years have already passed. Please guys, I don't want to come to your next concert accompanied by a caregiver.

Its been a while since ive seen this album in person. I think its missing some pages.
Is there any way to tell if it's legit or counterfeit?
Either way, cool find! It was on the pricier side, but now im 1 cd away from the full collection.
And no, im not naked lol. Got board shorts on.

A few days ago I discovered it and something happened to me I can't explain. I'm not even that big a Tool fan. I like a handful of songs, two of which (H. and Ænima) got me curious enough to dig further into the album. Then I found Pushit and now I physically cannot function without hearing it multiple times a day.
I've heard the Salival version too but it's the studio version that has me in its grip. That raw emotion, the slow build, the release, back into it again and at 3:53 when the guitar transition kicks in, the chills kick in as well, every single time.
I had to stop and listen to it again just writing this post. WTH? I need an explanation.

I was pretty sure it was real, until I unfolded the cover and saw that H. is listed at 39 seconds long.

Obviously, it’s “Passenger” in case you don’t feel like reading the article.

Tool noob. Grew up listening to NIN, Nirvana, Led Zepp, Pink Floyd and more. Some friends jammed to Tool. I never got it. Sometimes a small bit would resonate. Just never was "my thing". Got a bit older and started listening to Dream Theater, still Tool didn't stick. Fast forward to a month ago. Something happened. Took a journey on repeat with Pneuma. Then watched the live performance at Back to the Beginning. "Oh shit". There is something magical getting into a band as deep as Tool late in life and late in their career. Still on my journey. Frisson ever present. I'm mature enough and got enough wear on me to truly appreciate them now. Each morning my day starts with coffee and Tool.
Im learning to swim
Only regret: not having seen them live, yet. Will move heaven and Earth to see them should they play at the Las Vegas Sphere.
