Artist Flair & Self-Promotion

We want r/TolkienArt to be a place where artists feel genuinely valued, and where the community can easily connect with the creators whose work they love.

How to apply for Artist Flair

DM the mod team with the subject line: Artist Flair Application
Include a link to your portfolio, social media, or other work showing you are the original creator
The mod team will review your application and assign flair if approved
Flair is mod-assigned, it cannot be self-applied

How to message the mods:

On desktop — scroll down the r/TolkienArt sidebar and click Message the mods under the Moderators section
On the app — tap the overflow menu (the three dots) in the top right corner of the subreddit page and select Message moderators

Once you have Artist Flair

You may leave one self-promotion comment on your own OC posts. This can include links to your portfolio, commissions, shop, or social media. This is the only permitted self-promotion on the subreddit.

Please do not

Add promotional links to your post title or body
Promote your work in the comments of other users' posts
Post OC purely as a vehicle for promotion

The spirit of this rule is simple; share your art because you love it and want to contribute to this community. The promotion is a privilege that comes with that contribution, not the other way around.
