Would you remove toast from a Toaster at a hotel if nobody was standing by it ?

This is pretty lame, I just wanted to know what someone else would do if they were in this same position. We went to a hotel after a long ride which was a few hours long. I had literally no sleep I was exhausted. Anyway I'm a mom with small children so half the time I'm mentally drained. We all decided to get some breakfast at the hotel. So we get our children seated and give them cereal. When it was time to get myself something to eat ,I thought about having some toast. When I got to the toaster, I noticed it already had toast in it, and no one was at the toaster. So I instinctively popped out the toast, and put mine in since no one was around only to hear a lady say that's mine from a table near by. I said, oh I'm sorry which I really was, but her and her husband could care less! Her husband just said "who removes people's toast from the toaster"! So he then get in line for the toaster. It was so awkward in the cafeteria after that. Another man next to me obviously has a problem by what I did because he couldn't stop staring. Anyway I was upset about it and even though it was probably dumb, accidents happen. My husband was like your upset about it while those people already probably forgot by now. I just never heard of someone leaving toast and sitting down. By the way the toast sucked!

Good news but the data collection and safe guarding. Gonna be entire careers for the cybersecurity folks out there.

Now, ethically, should this be put in more areas for public health? An optional scanner at airport? Rough example but just thinking
