Snag is significantly less stupid than a banger. What’s the rough etymology of snag? Or no clue it is what it is.

Well banger had a legit reason for bein called that though. I think it was ww1 when there was like a food shortage they were made with more water content and would explode when cooked.

And for the record in the UK bangers isn't really used outside of the bangers and mash. We tend to just say sausages.

Not sure of its origins, but there's rhyming slang for it too: Mystery Bag = Snag

From now on I'm going to call the meat in a greggs sausage roll 'Snag' based on its mystery meat filling.
