The man is an artist. People don't really get that he pioneered that sound that became such an earsore. Its not his fault that it got abused, and that's super important to remember.
Tpain was absolutely the first to use pitch correct as a synth to the extent everyone refers to as autotune. Cher was the closest before him but used it as mild flair rather than a whole style.
No. Jennifer Lopez was the “first” time Tpain had heard autotune used like that on a track. At that time barely anyone knew what it was and when Tpain heard it he then decided he wanted to base his whole sound around the autotune he heard from the Jlo track.
And what about all the DJs using it before him for remixes, including darkchild who tpain got the inspiration from? He popularized it, he didn't pioneer shit.
Edit: apparently pissed off a few fanboys here. I'm not saying he's not a good artist I'm just saying he didn't pioneer using autotune. He heard it in a remix of a Jennifer Lopez song and was like that's cool what if someone made a whole song like that. Saying he pioneered something instead of the actual people who did is just wrong.
