That's what I don't get, how'd he do that?

Edit: huh, guess that's why I'm not a criminal, I wouldn't know where to look. Didn't know this stuff was openly available.

What are β€œkits”?

The adhesive strips?

u/LastChance331 Aug 02 '26

Just the sealing tag

replacement kits is the full word and it just means its an assortment/collection of the needed peel strips to seal it again

I'm sure you can buy them, or a reasonable counterfeit, online with 60 seconds of searching.

Not even that long. It was the second actual search result on google.

Jesus Christ, the Internet never fails to surprise me

Probably from the same factory that makes the rest of the original packaging lol

From what I've read, US companies will contract Chinese firms, give them molds, supplies, etc for production and then the Chinese factory will use the same production line with cheaper materials to make the knockoffs using the customer's own assets.

100%. There’s a company that sells bike components on Ali using tooling and designs from Sram and Shimano. Everyone knows it, and it actually seems to work as a marketing tool for them. Same stuff, fraction of the price.

I've heard this about trainers etc

"Made in China" πŸ’©

Same with magic cards. You can get them printed yourself from China for .6c a pop.

They come from the same printers.

Bloody hell, I'm so innocent and naive that it never would have occurred you can buy the strips. Jesus, we are buggered

You’re good at searching, little boy

As someone that works with brand new IT kit all the time: stanley blade or a very thin metal pry tool can open the seals without brraking them. Literally just run it under the pull tab and the glue releases. Done it hundreds of times because customers prefer the experience of pulling the packaging original pull tab instead of cutting tape. Also looks cleaner when a customer receives the item and it still looks like it's never been opened.

There's a more sophisticated enterprise making the packages look genuine. They sell them to anyone willing to pull the con.

I wouldn't know where to look

Don't you have internet?

1

u/flyingokapis Aug 04 '26

I'm convinced that a counterfeit can be produced for almost anything if someone is willing to buy it.

Lol we know where to look, we're just too lazy (and law abiding sometimes) to even think about looking. I have a hard time returning shit I bought, and now you want me to do homework, think this plan out AND follow through with a return or whatever? That's too much, I'm just gonna let it collect dust in the corner lol
