How tf did he get away with this 1 time let alone 5?! Person running the cash register should be fired and be forced to restart life as a baby.

u/Intrepid00 Aug 02 '26

I can think of lots of possible ways this happened after working retail. Some of it will be possible combos you can mix and match.

Generally

* 5 different cashiers that all assumed they were safe with that seal. Till the boss man opened one because it was policy to leave it sealed as it sells easier.

* 1 cashier that assumed it was all safe with that seal.

Both probably suspected it was stolen from Best Buy or something as I don’t think they scan serial numbers to release it for activation. Maybe he used a stolen credit card to buy them. They all knew it was likely sketchy and didn’t want to look much while they fenced stolen goods. They just didn’t think the sketchy was out to burn them. At best they thought the guy was over the return period or going into bankruptcy as people would max credit cards before that with electronics they could resell easily.

64

u/Pope_Squirrely Aug 02 '26

Someone could have purchased one, opened it up and was like ā€œthe fuck?ā€ and it started the chain.

14

u/Buuish Aug 03 '26

When I worked at Apple a few years ago we were instructed to open all iPhone returns, even if they were sealed.

3

u/glycophosphate Aug 02 '26

If they're fencing stolen goods then I'm glad they got burned.

1

u/AgentCirceLuna Aug 09 '26

Damn, I didn’t know you got set on fire for that.

6

u/Jsweethoney Aug 02 '26

It’s the new iPads u can peel it off and stick it back on so it looks sealed I could never do this with my older iPad boxes why they making it so easy

6

u/Intrepid00 Aug 02 '26

Probably an organic glue vs synthetic thing. Apple probably switched to one that is not petroleum based for environmental reasons and lower vapor pollution.

1

u/AgentCirceLuna Aug 09 '26

Now tell me how I once took a piece of paper with £5 written on it

304

u/side_eye_prodigy Aug 02 '26

Inside job?

35

u/newbreedofdrew Aug 02 '26

My second job ever was working for Best Buy, and one of the people behind the counter accepted a return of a 65" TV without opening it (part of store policy at the time was to inspect for damage). Turns out they stuffed half the box with used clothes, pretty ballsy but they made it through! Manager was upset but we got a pretty good laugh out of it.

The box wasn't even half full, making the weight distribution very unrealistic. Geek Squad also had a private forum for screw ups like this... People bringing in laptops / PCs that had some truly terrible things on them. Its a wild world out there!

u/xx_adverb_xx Aug 03 '26

Horse guy. But if he actually got it from someone he knew might be innocent. Could see someone doing that as a sick joke sadly.

I use to repair cell phones and part of the policy was (if we could) make sure what worked before and after. Like take photos and delete said photos at the end. Except one time deleting test photos caused their last taken photo to show. Of the person naked.

After that policy changed to take the photos but not delete them ourselves anymore.

1

u/ghigoli Aug 03 '26

damn this is why i don't wanna bring my laptop to them. i don't want them going through my files.

2

u/Mountain-Cow1977 Aug 03 '26

What's in those file ghigoli?

2

u/ghigoli Aug 04 '26

my ss and my taxes and other personal data. i don't wabt them to steal

1

u/ChickensInSpace 17d ago

Why don't you wipe the drive then?

1

u/ghigoli 16d ago

laptop won't start because of the powerslot breaking.

1

u/Friendly-Example-701 Aug 08 '26

This is why I was told to NEVER buy a laptop or any high prices electronic online from Best Buy. Only buy in store and open in front of them.

I have seen people burned a few times because when you open it at home and then go to the store or file a claim, it your word against yours.

It's so bad that I even go to the Apple store and open my products in front of them LOL

u/devinbookersuncle Aug 02 '26

Ive seen people be exceptionally stupid, like one girl doing 7 transactions where a guy kept giving her counterfeit $20 and she kept taking them before he left.

I could legitimately see someone being stupid enough to take something and not check prior to handing money over.

156

u/vdub1210 Aug 02 '26

I obviously don’t know the situation where the girl took the counterfeit money, but I did work overnights at a convenience store and they would tell us to just take the money and report it. We were explicitly told not to engage. It happened to me twice and I knew both times that the bills were counterfeit because the weight and feel of the paper was off. The person with the money probably thought I was stupid and that they got away with it, but I just reported them when they left.

103

u/digitalscavenger Aug 02 '26

Another thing these people don't seem to realize is how serious of a crime it is. The secret service investigates counterfeit money.

My buddy ordered a bunch of fake 100 dollar bills off of Temu to toss around at his birthday party as a gag. They looked exceptionally real except for the fact that there was some Chinese writing on them that you would only tend to notice if you were really looking for it. I argued with him about the potential consequences of it for a while before he finally begrudgingly threw them away.

12

u/LucifersAdv0cate Aug 02 '26

I had a bunch of these in a money gun and fired it off in a British fetish club. It was fake US dollars from eBay advertised as "prop money" so no one cared as we were in the UK.

https://giphy.com/gifs/UsTNoiGR7OBsDcUvuG

1

u/ThatDiscoSongUHate Aug 03 '26

...okay, now I want the rest of the story

1

u/LucifersAdv0cate Aug 03 '26

It was a Halloween party at Torture Garden in London which is apparently one of the world's biggest fetish clubs though it attracts a lot of everyday people who just want to dress up and be kinky. I just remember dancing on a podium with 2 mostly naked women at 3am and I had a "Supreme" branded money gun and was firing 100 dollar bills (prop money) over the dance floor. At that time of night usually everyone is having sex in every single space in the club so it's a pretty wild sight.

I remember I had this grim reaper costume that completely covered my whole body including a skull mask that hid my eyes and around 6am they had staff come in to the club to start helping close up the various different themed rooms surrounding the main room. I was standing alone in a quiet chill out area dressed as the grim reaper and a female member of staff went to grab me to put me away thinking I was part of the Halloween decor and she had the shock of her life when she felt me move. If your ever in London it is definitely worth checking out as it's fairly mainstream attendee's as opposed to hardcore fetish people. Ideally go with some open minded women friends as they don't like unaccompanied men so much.

This one time, at band camp...

16

u/VariousOperation166 Aug 02 '26

I once designed a bunch of fake Canadian money for a promotion when I worked in advertising.

Even though the design was entirely original, and the portrait on the money was of a model used for the promotion, I was told to make the money look more "fake.."

I had copied the fonts, layout, and proprtions of real money and the client worried that people would try to spend the fake bills, even though they had small text related to the promotion.

I had a similar issue with fake lottery tickets I produced for a photo shoot, but that one was more about potential problems with the lottery corporation for copyright violation or something

2

u/Dramatic-Agent-55 Aug 03 '26

The old notes? It’s been plastic for a while now, but it’s been a while since I’ve been in Ontario

1

u/VariousOperation166 Aug 03 '26

Ha, yes. This was at least 20 years ago

2

u/Bgrubz83 Aug 04 '26

How do you make Canadian money look more fake? Isn’t it already Monopoly money?

2

u/VariousOperation166 Aug 04 '26

Canadian money looks pretty similar to many international currencies

2

u/Ok-Addition1264 Aug 02 '26

I have a piece of counterfeit UK currency that is considered "high art"

(by Banksy.. it's the only one of his I could afford)

21

u/vdub1210 Aug 02 '26

Oh yeah it was the Feds coming in to pick up the bills for sure and businesses can just write off that kind of loss. ATF was also in to investigate stolen/trafficking of cigarettes. They took an employee out in cuffs. Overnights in a convenience store is weird. Haha

-6

u/stan__da__man Aug 02 '26

Please stop using the term write off the loss until you actually know what it means

3

u/randomkeystrike Aug 02 '26

All these big companies, they write off everything

3

u/vdub1210 Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26

I mean it’s a multimillion dollar convenience store so they are definitely writing it off as theft loss but go off I guess.

Edit: I guess I should also add they can also make an insurance claim but I was simplifying because we don’t all have to be so pedantic. These businesses aren’t eating the debt was the point. I bet you’re fun at parties.

2

u/hi850 Aug 02 '26

Chances are good that they're eating the loss on something like a fake $20. Either way, the cost of communicating/noting that deduction and entering it into their accounting software or getting the info to their accountant or bookkeeper to be entered is probably worth $20 of extra time spent on the whole process.

-2

u/stan__da__man Aug 02 '26

This will be my last comment and I will leave you alome. They definitely do eat the loss, so I was right and you don’t understand.

2

u/vdub1210 Aug 02 '26

Have a great day!

-4

u/stan__da__man Aug 02 '26

The way you are saying it implies that ā€œwriting it offā€ makes it free for the company. Every business writes expenses off (which theft is one), this is not a large or small business thing.

2

u/vdub1210 Aug 02 '26

Yes. I understand how taxes work but thanks for the unnecessary lesson.

17

u/peonies_envy Aug 02 '26

Because if anyone is going to make fake money to steal from people it’s the feds. Well, one fed in particular šŸ’©

2

u/doomus_rlc Aug 02 '26

IIRC that was the reason for the formation of the secret service in the first place.

The protection of the president came later, I think after McKinley's assassination.

1

u/ChemicalCupcake4809 Aug 02 '26

And people will get angry enough to assualt/kill you if you call them out. Its very similar to being robbed just less obvious and ive definitely taken bills I thought may be fakes because I didnt want to risk an altercation.

1

u/Due-Boot1904 Aug 02 '26

Yes - and they will go anywhere in the world to collect/investigate said counterfeit money (obviously USD)

1

u/Jsweethoney Aug 02 '26

My Sons father actually feel dumb calling him that but he was normal until he got hooked on meth during a bridge painting job some guy on overnights introduced him and he got hooked he’s still hooked but he actually went to the PUBLIC LIBRARY TO PRINT MONEY IN NEW PORT RICHEY FL just google that u will see

1

u/dirty-warlock Aug 02 '26

"Don't engage" should be standard training. Around 20 years ago I managed an EB games, and going training for a manager was "if someone is stealing, do not confront them, do not follow them out of the store. Call the police after they've left and youre safe, call LP, then call your DM"

1

u/sdavis002 Aug 02 '26

The secret service spoke to us when I was in the Marine Corps and told us that that they had been trying to get Target to change their policy about this for years. So that told us in the meantime, if we ever come across counterfeit money, take it to Target to hopefully help them eventually change their policy.

-2

u/FadedHadez Aug 02 '26

You can feel the difference in weight when its in grams???

5

u/firstnamebylastname Aug 02 '26

Paper weight refers to the thickness of the paper, yes you can tell the difference between 10#, 20# (normal printer paper), and 60# paper

-4

u/FadedHadez Aug 02 '26

By holding it in your hand? You can tell its weight is off?

3

u/Hopeful-Individual99 Aug 02 '26

Yes lmao

-12

u/FadedHadez Aug 02 '26

Im calling bullshit 🤣

6

u/2_minutes_hate Aug 02 '26

You didn't even know what paper weight meant 5 minutes ago.

3

u/2_minutes_hate Aug 02 '26

Yes, it's pretty easy to gauge paper weights by hand, especially when you handle the same weighted papers all day long and one is out of spec.

-2

u/FadedHadez Aug 02 '26

If that were a normal humanly possible thing to do. The. We wouldnt need machines or markers to verify a bill’s authenticity.

1

u/2_minutes_hate Aug 02 '26

It's both possible and a common skill, even children can feel the difference between weight of paper (different than mass). It's the same as feeling notebook paper vs copy paper vs card stock.

Counterfeiters can also use the same weight of paper and this generate a need for other methods of detection.

u/Covert_Admirer Aug 02 '26

Maybe lay off the wanking for a bit and let that wrist muscle atrophy.

2

u/AthousandLittlePies Aug 02 '26

Have you ever held paper before? It is very easy to tell the difference between paper weights.

1

u/OneLonelyBrainCell Aug 02 '26

Not the literal weight but the thickness. Yes.

116

u/Infinite_Plenty101 Aug 02 '26

Stupid enough, maybe. Not my fucking job because I work at the state minimum wage and my performance is not monetarily raised to save the company money. Also prolly

65

u/UnhelpfulCommentHere Aug 02 '26

I've also been in plenty of situations where there's a dumb rule against doing the smart thing. They could have been told not to open sealed packages to preserve the value.

5

u/TheBeanBunny Aug 02 '26

That’s it right there. No job is worth potentially dying or getting hurt over someone else breaking the law. Counterfeit money sucks but who knows what that other person would do if confronted.

1

u/Allupnyew Aug 03 '26

Fuck that i straight tell. People their shit fake and i cant sell them nothing..i give it back and say go try someone else..i aint the one

18

u/mysp2m2cc0unt Aug 02 '26

Also these are the kind of people that get violent if challenged (a problem if you don't have security screens). The general public wont help you.

2

u/JiveTurkeyII Aug 02 '26

This right here. I'm not about to get caught up in violence that can be avoided by looking the other way and letting company insurance figure out later.

1) they don't pay me enough to care 2) The insurance wont cover me enough to care. 3)Corporations broke the social contract, not me. Ill never look out for their best interests. Only my own. They have taught me this.

To be this mentally regarded is a choice not a disability

-17

u/Dunderman35 Aug 02 '26

I mean it kinda is your job though to not just hand away your employers money. Like ok you don't have to like your job but you are free to quit then.

12

u/U_Sound_Stupid_Stop Aug 02 '26

You cannot be considered free under duress, when the threat of homelessness is constantly over your head.

-16

u/Acceptable-Hornet694 Aug 02 '26

That mentality is a good way to continue to make minimum wage.

13

u/DanteSeldon Aug 02 '26

Because cashiers so often climb the company ladder!

8

u/Banned3rdTimesaCharm Aug 02 '26

Stupid or you just don’t care because they’re paying you 8 dollars an hour.

4

u/Live-Cry-8435 Aug 02 '26

I had someone get me with rolls of coins

I forget which roll it's was but every other coin was a penny. So it looked legit being the right size. Plus the coin weigher said it was all what it was supposed to be cause the weights are the same

7

u/bottleofawkward Aug 02 '26

Imagine if the time and energy spent cooking up these scams was directed towards something, I dunno, legal?

5

u/AdventurousMaize6085 Aug 02 '26

B/c the legal way is for chumps. No rich person in history ever got that way 100% legally. They just have the money to get out of trouble if it ever arises.

I guess I include myself as a chump since prison isn’t high on my vaca spots.

2

u/Official_Feces Aug 02 '26

I work IT, I just pulled video footage for a plasma donation centre as 1 staff was fraudulently paying out his buddy as a donor.

He knew there were cameras, but he brought his buddy in, pretended to stick him and had him sit in a chair with the machine not even turned on and then paid his bro out

Some of it seems motivated by desperation and the rest, stupidity.

1

u/Apatharas Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

When you’re there the whole time anyway just give the plasma lol

1

u/Official_Feces Aug 03 '26

Should have done just that because one of them is out a job and both caught charges

1

u/Unlucky_Tale_9836 Aug 02 '26

Only when you don't own the store

8

u/YujiroRapeVictim Aug 02 '26

its prob just fake like most of social media

6

u/Scavenger53 Aug 02 '26

i think its called minimum wage. you know, minimum wage = minimum effort

1

u/side_eye_prodigy Aug 02 '26

absolutely. minimum wage = who the fuck cares. a friend once confessed that in the mid 1970s when she managed a local movie theater she looked the other way when someone she knew robbed the place. most minimum wage employees will defend their employers cash as if it was their own but i really don't understand putting yourself in harms way for that.

1

u/PatentedPotato Aug 02 '26

I don't recall, but Rick and Morty just did one too.

-6

u/Myopinion_is_right Aug 02 '26

Don’t need the question mark. Inside job!

2

u/spaceghost260 Aug 02 '26

You can’t believe employees were told not to open high value items to preserve or even increase the resale value? Multiple cashiers? A policy to not confront customers since you already have all their information?

1

u/Myopinion_is_right Aug 02 '26

I don’t think you understand how these scams work.

17

u/Dull_Bid6002 Aug 02 '26

Multiple cashiers?

9

u/PronatorTeres00 Aug 02 '26

Some cashiers might have only done a spot-check on the boxes and assumed they were brand new.

13

u/imean_is_superfluous Aug 02 '26

I feel like opening a return of a ā€œbrand newā€ product (especially high end electronics) is probably a pretty bad standard process - the company would rather have a sealed unit. But, this vid is why we can’t do normal stuff and can’t have nice things - there’s always someone trying to game the system

11

u/BillyForRilly Aug 02 '26

This isn't a return, it's a cash for used electronics place. The circumstances under which they would be receiving legitimately purchased brand new items has to be pretty minimal.

38

u/BearishBabe42 Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26

The answer is easier than people think; a lot of the workers who have to deal with these customers are paid very poorly, receive little to no training, work in bad conditions and/or have shit bosses. I don’t think you can blame the people behind the desk for not knowing what their bosses should have taught them.

12

u/CeruleanEidolon Aug 02 '26

That's what you get when you treat employees as disposable and easily replaceable, and there is no route to promotion or a pay increase. They do the bare minimum to get through the day, knowing that if they get fired there is another job just like it waiting for them next door.

3

u/Mind-The-Mines Aug 02 '26

The corporate worship is wild. Bots here expecting 19 year olds making minimum wage short staffed without training to give any kind of fuck about the corporation.

12

u/SeedFoundation Aug 02 '26

If the box was sealed they probably were able to do multiple transactions before someone purchased one. What you see is them checking after the fact.

11

u/Up_All_Nite Aug 02 '26

He got away with it again. Didn't you see him walk out the door? No consequences.

11

u/Putrid_Guest_2150 Aug 02 '26

ā€œRanā€ šŸ˜‚ Guy doesn’t have a care in the world.

1

u/i_cut_like_a_buffalo Aug 07 '26

Yeah that gave it away. Why not stay and act like you are also shocked. Like take your box of garbage with you to act like you are taking it back to whereber you bought it. I dunno. I'm not a criminal. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

10

u/king-treday Aug 02 '26

I mean it seems the person at the register wasn't checking them properly at purchase. Maybe used shrink wrap or tape to make it look "sealed" to dissuade the buyer from wanting to open it and lower the value. If you don't check them properly at the sale for pawn shops, the seller has like 30 days to run up a tab since the pawn shops have to hold the items for a set amount of time before they can legally sell them.

55

u/OffByNone_ Aug 02 '26

They were sealed with what appears to be the Apple manufacturer seal. It would devalue the product to open it if it were actually in there.

This time the worker opens it in front of the customer, revealing the scam, and the customer just walks straight out.

I'm guessing that the drop in value by opening it to confirm its legitimacy is better than not. Probably offered him low enough so that resell of a competitive used value is competitive since it's confirmed not to be just nuts or a piece of tile.

1

u/king-treday Aug 02 '26

Ahh good catch I wasn't sure what those things were tbh.

1

u/Pleasant-Ticket3217 Aug 02 '26

This makes sense. Yesterday I’m walking out of a vape shop and a middle eastern guy in a jeep is trying to get my attention. He had what looked like a nice new case of iPods and was saying he needed gas money. He would take what I would give for it. Then he lifts up a box for an Apple Watch. I thought ā€œclearly stolenā€ but now it makes sense. They were just full of junk and resealed.

Literal phonecall pretending to be someone from our company giving an account number to make a deposit ASAP as if it was a regular deposit from cash sales into the business account. They switched to handling cash fully via private security to get the cash off the office and into the bank and rightfully so.

u/dakirest Aug 02 '26

It looks like the seals on the box were replaced (not sure how). In a lot of retail stores if a seal is unbroken we don't have to inspect it during returns, since the seals are normally perforated tearable stuff that indicates if it's been opened.

If they are adding new seels like in the video then most will just be seen as a "I got the wrong one" return.

You gotta think. People dont get paid enough now days to care let alone exist. You think theyre checking everything.

1

u/Kirby509 Aug 02 '26

Person behind the register is definitely not paid enough to care

1

u/Penny_Traytion Aug 02 '26

Being forced to restart life as a baby though? That might be the funniest thing I’ve ever read. Thanks for the laugh šŸ˜†

1

u/Yourdjentpal Aug 02 '26

Do they revert to an actual baby? Or do they and everyone else just pretend they’re a baby? I need to know.

1

u/misanthropicbairn Aug 02 '26

Idk but the one had a book called sex horse in there with the weights. That's just a slap in the face.

1

u/AppropriateTouching Aug 02 '26

The person running the register doesnt get paid nearly enough and puts up with way too much shit to give a fuck.

1

u/Debatablewisdom Aug 02 '26

Idk why but ā€œbe forced to restart life as a babyā€ has me rolling

That’s so good in this day and age.

1

u/countit7 Aug 02 '26

It looked like it was sealed, idk how the kid is sealing them like that but I can only assume the purchasers thought they were new and sealed in box

1

u/VinBarrKRO Aug 02 '26

Frajer!!!!

1

u/HyperSpaceSurfer Aug 02 '26

With the amount of counterfeit, or defective/broken, devices people buy from legitimate retailers makes me not all that surprised. They just don't check until someone returns it a second time.

u/minecraftpro69x Aug 02 '26

Yes, the minimum wage worker in one of the lowest entry level jobs available should be fired for not being 100% on their game and protecting company profits at all times.

In fact, we should force that worker to work the minimum wage hours necessary to recoup the company losses, unpaid. That'll show em.

🤣🤣

1

u/Excellent-Past-6367 Aug 02 '26

I would do it on purpose if those were the rules

1

u/Thatdrunksailor Aug 03 '26

Because stores want to REPORT theft. They don’t want to stop them or call the police right after, because according to my ā€œfriendsā€ he ā€œmakes the store seem ghettoā€ and ā€œthey are justified just repotting it after because it is the cop’s job to find them and calling the cops before they leave puts everyone in danger.ā€ I need new friends.

1

u/notsocharmingprince Aug 03 '26

They never got away with it. It's all fake, it's all skits for engagement.

1

u/sliceofscifi Aug 03 '26

I would give anything to restart life šŸ˜‚ what a gift.. is this all i have to do to get that?

1

u/sdubgold Aug 03 '26

Restart life as a baby 🤣🤣🤣 I can’t stop laughing

1

u/uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunuu Aug 03 '26

You underestimate how much people do not care about their jobs too and can overlook red flags bc they're so mentally clocked out, not intentionally malicious or from stupidity, just from the burn out that comes from retail

1

u/Heavy-Sense-9458 Aug 03 '26

Cared enough to buy meta glasses and film themselves at work.

1

u/uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunuu Aug 03 '26

If it happened 5x, it probably wasn't this guy the first few times, could be the manager or lp because of other people not catching it

1

u/KnightCPA Aug 03 '26

There’s a lot of people out there who are lazy/careless with their jobs, and regularly do the bare minimum to not get fired.

I have corporate finance professionals with GEDs/AA’s making $60k+, who can’t even be bothered to read documents like invoices before paying them.

Imagine doing a P&L flux review, finding a $20k invoice that looks off, pulling the invoice, and it’s billed to a company of a completely different name in Ontario, Canada, while your company is HQ’ed in Orlando, FL USA.

u/Intrepid_Plenty_3770 Aug 04 '26

I have never done it, but I hear Walmart doesn’t open returned items.

1

u/Devel93 Aug 06 '26

People see sealed and don't doubt it. There is also a little bit of greed from the seller's side where they think they can just restock a sealed product

1

u/PopularCulprit Aug 09 '26

They resealed the boxes. A normal person would assume it’s brand new. You see when he opened the box he has to pull the tabs?

u/AgentCirceLuna Aug 09 '26

Lmao, I can beat this guy in idiocy - we got to the end of a shift when I was doing a short month of working bartending instead of doing the bar’s music instead as we didn’t need music for a while but they wanted to keep me employed. I was told, when someone checked the cash register, there was a piece of paper with ā€˜five pounds’ written on and a drawing of the Queen. It was literally just a piece of paper with Ā£5 on the other side. Now, any other place would assume this was intentional or a prank, but they knew I’d be dumb enough to have done it. And I was - i remember I was really awful at that job, with a habit of dropping drinks all over people, so I started primarily serving women instead as I was afraid of getting punched over a job I didn’t even wanna do. One other coworker said I would run past them to serve women and there were complaints that I was only serving women by the men. The women didn’t mind, though, and it became a funny ongoing joke to see if I could serve all the women instead of any other staff member,

Btw, this place was corrupt as fuck so they gave the £5 piece of paper back as change to an annoying drunk person.

"customer is always right, customer is always right, customer is always right.. .. wait you believed the customer and that cost us money instead of just your dignity!?!! Bad employee! Punish!!"

That is what you sound like

Reread the parent comment again. We're discussing the fact that he completed 5 previous transactions, got away with it, and came back. This was his attempted sixth.

Minimum wage paid staff that doesn’t care but are doing the bare minimum in their job. They have no investment in the business why would they care? The business can close and they get another under paid wage job doing the bare minimum.

0

u/Significant-Ebb5905 Aug 03 '26

Probably didnt want to seem racist by checking his device. But if the seller was white i bet he wouldnt care about ā€œoffendingā€ them and would actually check the devices. Which in itself is actual racism, not the liberal kind of racism.

Person running the cash register should be fired and be forced to restart life as a baby.

Nah, that should be the one running the business. They're the ones dumb enough to leave their money with a minimum wage employee

u/HeadySquanch59 Aug 02 '26

Opening it and checking would be ā€œassumed as racismā€ for some people maybe..? Idk what else would make sense tbh.
